A wonderful dining experience here tonight. Service was exceptionally attentive. Our server was very friendly and gave us much needed recommendations from a huge beer selection. So many great choices including a personal favorite, La Chouffe from Belgium. The Caesar salad was a generous portion and the 10-inch Chi-Town pizza was so deliciously thin and crispy with generous amounts of ground meat and red onions. It was too big for two to finish so we had to share the rest with a stranger on our walk home. Definitely will return for the good food and vibes. read more

We just got home from an amazing vacation in St. Thomas and we stile have the amazing taste of the Pie Hole pizza in out mouths!!! This place is awesome...probably my favorite on St. Thomas anyway. Where else can one get pizza, homemade pasta and a great selection of Belgian beer. Went in with my girl the first night not knowing anyone and was treated good. Went in the next night with our local friends and the free samples were flowing. They even busted out the private stash which wasn't currently on the list. If ever in Frenchtown I highly recommend stopping here. Dang, this place is GOOD. The only edible and enjoyable meal we had in VI was at Pie Whole. We walked in early and grabbed a seat at the bar. Reservations are highly recommended. Small place. Maybe 4 tables and 8 seats at the bar. They have an extensive beer list and amazing menu. We had the spinach and artichoke dip that shocked my pants right off. Not your traditional chips and dip, but almost like a pizza with spinach and artichoke dip. AMAZING. Pizza was also fantastic. They use a wood oven (without the wood) to get a similar taste to a real wood burning oven. The small size came out to about 13 inches which was more than enough to share. Crust is thin and crunchy. Service was great and the bartender was knowledgeable on the beers. They offered to call a cab for us which we thought was so nice. We were going to ask but they offered first. That's what I call great service. Highly recommend. MUST make a reservation. read more

I was completely shocked to find such a great place on the island. This place not only has great food but also an amazing selection of beers. In fact, the pesto and garlic breadsticks and other appetizers we had including the spinach and artichoke dip would have been enough to get us through the night. Have you ever been to a little hole in the wall pub in Chicago that has the BEST pizza you have ever had in your life, but the place only seats 20 people, so you have to get in there early or make a reservation? That's THIS place! Get there! NOW! We ran into a guy in the grocery store who had just moved back to the Chicago area before we left and he recommended a few places for us to go to... This was one of them and we want to go back every week, like forever! . We got seated faster than we originally expected because a few people were leaving the bar (yay)! They had 3 different kinds of cider, so I was pretty excited! We sat next to the perfect people because we ordered everything they had... Not because we're stalkers, I swear! The boy doesn't eat salad unless it's a really good ceasar. This couple just finished a good looking one, so we looked it up. It was the Twisted Ceasar Salad with Balsamic and Flat Bread with Roasted Garlic and Crispy Panchetta... Yea, you try NOT to order THAT! It was amazing! When it came out, I swear, the two of us fought to inhale it! The balsamic added the perfect touch to their homemade dressing. The panchetta added just the right amount of saltiness. And the flat bread that was baked in their brick over was to die for! We saved half of it for leftovers! The roasted garlic was sweet and nutty. So then that couple's pizza came out... It smelled all meaty and smokey. When we asked what it was they said it was the special and the couple next to them had ordered it (lol)! We ask our bartender and she said it was the Desperado (and has had various other names) with homemade thinly cut crispy pork belly (brined for 3 weeks), sweet Italian sausage, Spanish chorizo and San Marzano tomato sauce. Yes, we ordered it... It was sweet from the tomatoes & sausage and salty & smokey from the chorizo & pork belly. It was heaven in our mouths! We had 3 pieces left over to take back with the flat bread! Lunch the next day was fabulous! While we were waiting for our salad we saw a guy in the back making handmade pasta... He was wearing (kid you not!) black & white striped pants, hoop earrings, and had a long grey bear... He was a pirate, no joke! We asked our bartender and she said oh that's the owner, Crazy Earl. HA! He came out to talk to us as the boy is a former chef and was interested in the homemade pork belly. Crazy Earl is awesome! The atmosphere in this place is great! The service was awesome! I'm sorry for the 3 stars guys. The meathead just isn't what it used to be. It changed and I'm bummed. The beer was cold and the service was awesome. Place is usually rather full so thats good. The caprese salad and the spinach dip are awesome. The pizza is almost universally excellent. Part of the reason I lowered my review to 3 stars is because yelp rewards people with elite badges you give bad reviews. I have to meet my quota. It's not easy because I know it's bad for business. The bottom line is people should know that yelp isn't as democratic as it seems. Low posting and too many 4 and 5 star reviews pushes your rank down and they don't have as much "weight" so I'm sorry you got the 3 star. Business looks good so you aren't getting hurt. My husband and I go to pie whole every time we visit St.Thomas. The food is consistently great and the staff is very friendly. My husband was a big fan of the beer from the brewery upstairs. The caprese salad was a great starter and the pizza was incredible! We will definitely be coming back! read more

Love this place! They make you feel right at home. It's a little "hole" in the wall but that's what makes it so perfect. I will say I can imagine if it was crowded that you might need a sweatband. The service was quick and friendly and the food was delicious. We had the caprese salad, spinach dip and the cheese lovers with pepperoni and red sauce and I would highly recommend both(total for 2 people $49). The red sauce is so flavorful and I haven't had a sauce like that since I was in Italy. Another good thing is that the pizza is not greasy at all. If you're coming from a hotel and don't know how to get back, the bartender will call you a cab to be there in about 5 mins-super helpful. The next time I'm in St. Thomas I will be sure to stop in for a meal. read more

Pie Whole: make sure to update your phone number on your site! We tried to order 12 pizzas for our wedding party but could not get in touch. Having recently opened again under new management, Pie Whole is still trying to figure out where they stand. Most of their beer collection was unavailable, but we stuck to our old favorite: Bud Light. Kind of amazing with pizza! The cesar salad is served with two slices of tasty flatbread. Unfortunately, the salad has a bit too much dressing for my liking. The pizza, however, is delicious. Somewhere between thin crust and bar style, the pepperoni is delifghtfully greasy and has a solid crust to sauce to cheese ratio. Cheers to that! read more

A really awesome beer menu, unfortunately about 75% of the beers on the menu are out. (Really, no joke, only about 25% of the menu beers are available). Still was able to easily find a couple great Belgian beers to go with my pizza. The Caesar salad and pizza was also pretty excellent. I would totally recommend The Pie Whole, but just know, when you get the impressive beer menu. The beers with the dots next to them are not really available, and you'll find those dots next to most of the beers. read more

We had the Chitown and Spanish Town pizzas. Both were very good. However, the highlights of the dinner were the appetizers. Both the artichoke dip and the sea scallop apps were GREAT. The beer list is extensive as well. One of the better lists I've seen. read more

Excellent food! We had eggplant parmesan and pizza and Calamari. The sauce was excellent and I am picky about my sauce. Everyone in our party of 7 raved about their pizzas. They had a wide variety to choose from. The bar has the biggest selection of beer, even having a home town favorite! Nick was our waiter and he was great to chat with (yay Newark!) And just pleasant to deal with! We made reservations but i don't think they are needed. The parking is iffy but not that hard to find. We will definitely go again before we return home. read more

Pie Whole is located in the Frenchtown section of Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas. We recently stopped at this cozy pizzeria for lunch and tried the $14 pizza/salad combo. Both salad's (ceasar and house) were quite good. Everything we ate was made on site, including the personal pizzas. The regular crust was very tasty, but the whole wheat was lacking something. Perhaps some sesame would add to it's flavor. If I was to return to St. Thomas, I'd revisit this establishment. read more
