The biggest thing this place has going for it are, simply put, it's vibes. It's a great open space with TVs, incredibly friendly staff, and plenty of seating and fun events throughout the week. There's great outdoor seating as well. The staff have always been great to us, once on a cold day bringing over a personal space heater for our table! The owners are often there as well, and really wonderful to talk to. Pro-tip: ask for their homemade garlic butter on the side. Elevates the food immensely, and it's so good. The pizza is decent, it's cooked in front of you in a great oven and you know it's fresh. My favorite thing on the menu is the garlic cheesy bread, which is actually more like a white pizza. I've also enjoyed the desserts here, their chocolate chip cheesecake is super creamy. It's a good neighborhood bar, it's really friendly, and hookah is $25 if that's your thing. Good spot in the area.

This restaurant / bar is really chill and very affordable for the amount of food you get. I came here twice in the last week and had a pleasant experience both times. The first time I came was for take out. I got the veggie lovers pizza which did not disappoint for the amazing amount of veggies included. If anything there were more veggies than I bargained for (but I'm not complaining - I loved it)! I came around 10:00 pm at night and pick up was so easy. I ran inside and grabbed my pizza and they offered me ranch and Parmesan. The next time I came was for trivia. They do a great happy hour special, so we got rail drinks for $4 - which were very strong! The trivia questions were fun and challenging, and we loved getting to compete with other tables. I got the fried pickles as an appetizer which were delicious and crisp - not too greasy. They were perfect. I also got the Mediterranean pizza with light olives. My pizza was a little undercooked, and it took a while for all our pizzas to come out (we were in a big group), but we didn't mind because trivia night seems to get busy. When I mentioned it was slightly under-baked, my server quickly took the plate and heated the pizza some more. All in all, I've had a great experience here and for the price, you get a lot of yummy food! This place is definitely worth a visit.

Seems like a nice atmosphere and service was nice. The pizza is heavy handed garbage. Sometimes less is more. I don't need a pound of cheese on a 7" slice.

We came tonite to support a First Friday Showcase with local artists and it's definitely a vibe. Nice cozy spot to enjoy food, drinks and friends. This event had a dj and some dope spoken word artists and vocalist. I ordered a pizza and a garden burger. The pizza was really good. The garden burger was good but fell apart on me. My daughter ordered a pizza also and she loved it. My friend ordered a grilled chicken salad that was HUGE!!! We made it before happy hour ended so that was a bonus. Dan was our server and was super attentive.

First time going to this place, came with 2 friends and we decided to get a variety of things to try. When I tell you everything we had was great, didn't get a picture of the chicken parmigiana, the pizza or the salad but when I tell you don't miss out on this place sooooo very good. We each did get a dessert but honestly none of them were good, they don't make them in-house so I can't blame them for that disappointment. The waitress(Maya) was great she was patient and she told us about upcoming events at the restaurant. Overall a great place can't wait to go back.

A must stop in the downtown Richmond area!…read more It's truly a speakeasy with the door posing as a bookshelf. To get in, you must know the password or tell the host a joke that makes him laugh. We were escorted in and quickly noticed that this was more than a speakeasy-it was a full restaurant. We stopped in for drinks, but it was nice to have tapas. I got the popcorn with the Tequilla lime butter, which was the perfect balance of salt. I had a mezcal drink which was perfect! I'm such a fan of mezcal and am excited when I see it on the menu. Our waitress was a delight-super attentive and also a bartender so she was able to answer all of our drink questions. He asked for the password and we, unprepared, had to tell him a joke or an interesting fact. Luckily, my partner had one on hand. The atmosphere was lovely, very reminiscent of a 1920s speakeasy, or at least what you'd imagine it to be like. Our server came by within a few minutes of us being seated. She lacked enthusiasm, unlike the host, unfortunately. Her service turned out to be lackluster as well. We ordered the chicken pot pie and the filet mignon with asparagus. For drinks, the Grape Gatsby and Maine root beer. The food, like our server, lacked appeal. The saving grace was the host and the atmosphere. The view was lovely and the intimacy of the setting was a welcome experience. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding, and it was tasty, though nothing special. The burned odor that we smelled prior to its arrival turned out to be the bread. I can recommend Grandstaff and Stein as an experience, but you should not expect much in the way of culinary delights or exemplary service. We probably won't be back, but if you've never been, it's worth trying at least once.

The crispy pig tail was also wonderful. For the entrees, we got grilled pork belly and butter braised half chicken. The chicken was creamy, tender and very flavorful. The pork belly was soft, flavorful and really went well with the grits and collards. Our desserts were also heavenly. The miso banana panna cotta was light and very good. The biscuit is absolute perfection! Also this location is not very spacious keep that in mind. Our server started off pretty good until the end. She was very loud- louder than the music. No discretion- announced the details of a remaining balance of someone in our group , loudly. Left a sour taste in our mouth as this was not the most professional route to inform a guest of something of that nature. Then proceed to give an attitude upon being compensated .. The situation was however de-escalated. Maybe work on delivery of uncomfortable information.
