We ate there 9/23/2023. We had the steak and cheese egg rolls as an appetizer. The dough was crispy, light, and airy. The meat was tender. The dipping sauce was outstanding! It seemed to have a sweet,Thai chili profile. I had the big daddy pizza, 12". I did add the hot, honey drizzle over my pizza but there wasn't enough of it. The toppings were tasty. I don't expect a homemade crust from a non-pizzaeria type restaurant and this wasn't. My wife had a cheese burger. It was decent, not the best burger she ever had but not the worst. My daughter also had a pizza. Our server was polite, attentive. Overall I'd say decent food for a sports bar.

Great food and drink specials! We went on a Sunday night, the vibe was super chill. We hung out on the back patio, you just have to order your food and drinks inside and they'll bring out to you! I highly suggest going here on a Sunday night, the bartenders are super cool and attentive! I had a lot of fun! Oh and pleeeeeasse try the wings!!

I wanted to like this joint more than I did. Stopped by to pick up lunch for a couple of co-workers. Ordered a pizza and a salad, to-go. It took 50 minutes for the order to be ready! Now, that's not awful-awful when they're busy, but there were only about 3 tables with diners in the whole place. Waiting was uncomfortable because there are 11 (!) TVs going, plus music blaring from the sound system, causing the handful of patrons to have to shout over the background noise to converse. Prices were right. Staff was super friendly and helpful. (Hi, Chris!) Place was clean. The pizza was very good, but the salad had many, many inedible wilted pieces of "lettuce" (I hope?). If we'd dined in we would have sent it back, but it had been brought to the office and wasn't worth the hassle to deal with an exchange. On the positive side, this place has a great "neighborhood dive bar" vibe going for it, and I can understand why locals in the area might make this their regular hangout. But my experience grabbing a couple of to-go orders wasn't pleasant.

Super friendly and welcoming. Great beer on tap selection. Good does not disappoint. Great from game day. Grab a pizza! So good

Nondescript neighborhood pizza spot that's a sports bar in the heart of Manchester, but this is some banging pizza! I tried the Hawaiian, veggie and white, and they were all amazing. Oddly enough, the veggie may have been my favorite, and I'm not a vegetarian. Service was friendly and timely. Rear patio is not particularly beautiful, but is good for lounging when the weather is right. You will not be disappointed with the pizza! Good selection of beer, too.

    Yep this was lunch.

So the boss was in the office and decided to treat the team to lunch! She opted to ordernpizzas from this spot. Now I've dined in the past here and the food was amazing. But that was years ago so I was sorted geeked to try it out as I've heard good reviews recently. She ordered a medium cheese, meat lovers and a veggie. Took about 30 mins and they were ready. Disappointed to say the least. I didn't get photos of the other pies but I did manage to snap a shot of the slices of veggie that I had. The dough was undercooked and with the loads of toppings I had to use a fork and knife to eat it. I'm all for toppings but I'd also prefer to lift the slice to eat it. It was gooey but not in a cheesy way. The cheese and meat lover were way overcooked. We all took the L for lunch literally. I'll pass on future dining experiences here. #lunchwontlunchin

Cool vibe here and great food and drinks! Service was fast and friendly. We just got fries and macaroni bites but they were very good. The macaroni bites especially were amazing, good breading, didn't fall apart, and very gooey thick cheese and noodles inside. Green alien piss was the drink I got, pretty solid all around. Good balance of sweet and sour. Overall great experience.

Hmmmm so it's a neighborhood bar with really good pizza. And great drinks. Did I say really good pizza and drinks? It's chill.

Came in here on a Saturday night with some friends. There are tons of TVs everywhere, so it's a great spot to come watch the game. The service was great. Our waitress was very patient and nice. We started off with some drinks at first, and then ordered food about an hour later. Food: Mozzarella sticks: so so good! Deluxe pizza: I personally would wish the veggies were cooked through more, but regardless, it was very good. Hot dogs: apparently you can get pretty much any toppings you want on them. Pitchers of beer: a pretty good deal Will definitely be back!

We had just finished walking around Belle Isle, and were looking for somewhere close by to eat and found Ironclad Pizza Grill, and it was better than expected. I hate to judge a place quickly when walking in, but they had a crazy night the prior night. The manager was telling us how busy it was and he waited until the morning to clean up, which was fine. It was just dirty and disorganized when we first came in, but they had everything cleaned up by the time we were leaving. Anyways, we ended up getting fried pickles for an appetizer, and they were good. They were really battered which was amazing because too lightly battered fried pickles are the worst. I got a calzone with bacon, meatballs, green peppers, jalapeños, and mushrooms and maaaaaaaaaan it was amazing. AND massive, like it was enough to feed three, and that isn't an exaggeration. It was only $13, too. It was amazing, cooked so perfectly and packed full of great ingredients. I'd highly recommend getting a calzone if you go. Also, my mom got a pizza and it looked amazing, but I was too full to try. Overall, it was a pretty good time at Ironclad, I'd recommend it for lunch or dinner, it definitely seems like a good place to watch some games as well.

Not busy at all on a Saturday lunch. Service was excellent. Our server was super friendly and checked up us often. This place is very casual basically a sports bar. Only street parking though. We got the tots, calamari basket, and three 16" pizzas between 6 people, and it was PLENTY. We had leftovers of course. But it only came out to be about $16 per person. Great deal! The tots and calamari were delicious and crispy. Didn't enjoy the Chesapeake Bay/crab one as much since it was a little dry. Needed some more sauce or aioli. The White Pizza and the Deluxe were really good tho. The pizzas were really filling like 2-3 slices is enough.

Just moved to the Manchester hood a few weeks ago; Ironclad is a block from my apt and I was hoping it may be a go-to. It will be, when I'm tired and there's nothing in the fridge. But this is just basic pizza. I think the four star ratings are a reflection of the nearby loft denizens' need for a local place to hang, and post-Covid, this would be a fun neighborhood joint with its outdoor patio and dive bar vibe. But good crust is so essential to good pizza. And floppy, soggy crust that sags at the tip even when folded - no. Sorry. If this crust is handmade then there's something wrong with the ingredients...or it just hasn't been spun enough. Chewy and doughy. The sauce was decent, and to be fair, it reheated well, I think I enjoyed it more out of the microwave the next day. So treat it for what it is, a friendly neighborhood joint that serves perfectly adequate food and drink when you don't have the energy or time to venture outta the hood. In other words, I'll be back.

    This is the joint!!!!

Their menu is interesting, but I have to say I was disappointed to not find vegetarian options for their pizzas. There might have been one, but for a truly artistic place in such a liberal, artsy area, they should have had more options. Service was mixed - Our main server was forgetful and spacey... We would ask for things and he'd acknowledge and walk away only to come back a few minutes later and ask what we asked him for. Come on... Do better, management! As for the food - The pizzas really needed a slightly higher temperature and about 30 seconds more. The meatballs were cold inside and the sauce was luke warm. The Calabrian cauliflower was also on the cool side - very odd considering we saw char marks on them. Hmm... The flavor of the pizzas was nice though, but it would have been so much better if it was a little more charred and crusty. Overall - This was on my 'hit list' for visiting the downtown Richmond area, that's why I brought colleagues here for dinner, unfortunately it didn't deliver - far from it.

Dear Management Team, Today, May 5, 2026 at 6:15 pm…read more I am writing to formally express my disappointment with a recent experience at your downtown Richmond location, Capital Ale House. On the evening of our visit, I hosted a party of 11 guests. Everyone in our party was present and seated by 6:10 PM. Unfortunately, the service we received from our waitress, Jen, was unacceptable from the start. Her tone and approach toward our table came across as brash and unwelcoming. As we attempted to simplify our order by keeping it on one check, her responses were dismissive rather than helpful. At one point, I was told in a cold and abrupt manner that I could not have my carrot cake before my meal because "that's not the way it comes." This interaction set the tone for the remainder of the evening. I requested to speak with a manager on four separate occasions, and each time my request was declined or ignored. It was only after Jen visibly became frustrated and stumped away that a manager was finally brought to the table. When Ruby, who identified herself as the manager, arrived, her initial response felt defensive rather than solution-oriented. While she did eventually apologize and stated she would take care of us by ensuring we received happy hour pricing, the overall experience had already been negatively impacted. What makes this especially disappointing is that I am a regular customer who dines at this location for lunch at least three times a month. I chose to bring my family here expecting a positive experience, and instead, it was quite the opposite. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve both customer service and management responsiveness moving forward. I would appreciate follow-up regarding this matter.
