This restaurant will not be open in a year. Which is actually sad considering the first experience I had in the winter was decent and the food was delicious. We walked in this evening a little before 7 (Father's Day) with our spirited three year old in tow. The restaurant was maybe 1/3 full. The hostess ignored us at first, which is somewhat hard to do with a hungry toddler. Then on two occasions somewhere around ten minutes each, she told us she'd be with us. Mind you, she could have sat us at any number of tables within 6 feet of where we were standing at the front door. We are finally seated after 20-25 minutes. No one was in front of us waiting for a table, and no one was behind us. The table is on the side closest to the restroom and the table next to us hasn't been cleared. One younger waitress passed us no less than 5 times. After another 20 minutes of being ignored, we left the restaurant and ended up eating at Whole Foods to get the child food quickly. The most ridiculous part of all is that the same young waitress who ignored chipperly said, "Thanks for coming in and Happy Father's Day!" With as many food choices as Short Pump has to offer and having to intentionally make a trip to Emmy Squared, spend your hard earned money and time elsewhere. read more

I was very excited to try this place! It's in West Broad Village (where burger Bach used to be). I made a reservation because when I first discovered the place, I drove by it and it looked super busy. My friend and I went and we were actually disappointed. It was nice that it had great outdoor seating and I loved the environment. The food on the other hand...my friend got a salad.... it was $9 and all it had on it was lettuce, some cheese and dressing. nothing special and didn't even have croutons. she asked for crispy chicken and they said they were out of it. I had a *build your own pizza* which normally you would think it would be like $11-$14 and then any toppings. Not here, the base was $16-$18 and I got vegan cheese $4.00 extra (sure) and then EACH TOPING WAS $2.50 I got 3 and didn't realize it was extra because it was a build your own.. so my pizza was about $31 ?!? Our one star review is based on Emmy Squared's lack of consideration for the individuals that live in the vicinity of the restaurant. Food delivery consistently occurs between 3:00-4:30am. Loud delivery trucks. Metal ramps being pulled in and out. Loud music blaring. Emmy was asked by multiple parties to receive deliveries during reasonable hours (after 6am & before 9pm). Best Detroit Style Pizza I Have Ever Had Food I love pizza. Detroit style has not typically been my favorite but this may change my mind. It is thick crispy on the edge. Bread crust is great. Thick sauce and the toppings are fantastic. The quality of the meats on the meatsiah are top notch. Service Server was attentive and friendly. Always had drink refills. Ambiance It is a chic vibe. Kind of place that feels upscale. Price It isn't cheap. Expect to pay $20-$30 for a pizza but it is a lot of food. We loved grabbing dinner at Emmy Squared Pizza! It's a large restaurant in Short Pump with Indoor & Outdoor seating, so plenty of space for a group dinner or a date. The Pizza that we ordered was called The Miranda, it had ricotta cheese, bacon and hot honey on top of Detroit style pizza. It was so so delicious & we ate the entire large pizza. I really want to like this place. I went on opening/media day and scored some free pizza coupons (select from 1 of 3 options, dine in only) and despite this, I will likely not use them all. My husband ordered a Guinness and comes in a shorter than normal glass. I was surprised how expensive the menu items are. We ended up choosing a chicken parm sandwich, chopped cheese burger, vodka pizza and one side fries. I found the menu confusing, so I thought the fries were 3 dollars because it said Zia Ya Fries $3, but that was $3 (for cheese) on top of $7 for a la carte waffle fries, crazy! The chicken parm sandwich was slightly overcooked but okay flavor. But like $19 ala carte good, not even close. And if you added fries, that's a $26 chicken sandwich. The chopped cheese burger was not my jam at all, like 2 star for me, would never order this again. It just has a strange flavor with the beef, chopped onions, green peppers and American cheese. The pizza was good; I think I prefer NY style (not their fault). The waffle fries were okay, the cheese sauce was okay. The restaurant is pretty. Service was a little slow. First off, view my profile and you'll quickly notice how seldomly I give any restaurants less than 4 stars... certainly not 1. I will say that the food is decent. We got a couple of burgers and the waffle fry appetizer. Note that the burgers don't come with sides; they're paid for separately, and it's $7 for the waffles fries. They also charge for sauces on the side ($2). Our main gripe was with the service. There was max about 3 different groups seated, and I observed at least 8 employees lingering around. It took a long time to get our beer and appetizer. The beer came out a bit warm, so I'm guessing it was just waiting. The appetizer apparently took a while because the order was messed up, so they redid it (appreciate that, but just noting). We got it at the same time of our entrees. It took at least 15 minutes upon finishing to get our check, boxes, etc. The restaurant manager even swung by and asked how everything was. We said it was fine, but that the beer was a bit warm. We got a "that's good to know!" response - no offer to refund or at least get a new or different drink. The beer was practically untouched too, so it wasn't a matter of returning something I still obviously consumed. After that, we had at least 2 other people who seemed like supervisors of some sort asked how things were, to which we said "ok" and "could've been better", but there was zero verbal response. They just helped clear our table. I even emailed the restaurant separately on their website to reach out about the experience, hoping that maybe it was just a terrible night, but I never received a response. TLDR: If you want a decent $15 burger only (or pizza according to some other reviews) without any sides for takeout, this is the place for you. Came here with my wife a couple days ago and fell in love with this place. We ordered the Hawaiian pizza and a Caesar salad with chicken. The salad was so good and fresh. It's always refreshing when a place takes the time to really get a salad right and gives you a decent portion size (especially for a pizza place). The pizza was extremely flavorful and super filling. After reading the reviews, I was anxious to try Emmy's out. Much like the reviews, it was generally ok, but not a full 5 stars. We had a party of 6, so not too large. We got seated quickly, service was very good. They brought our food out at different times, so one person was done before others got their food. We even had one person that didn't get his food until 4 others were done, and it was only wings, nothing to complicated. One burger came out and had to be sent back as it was relatively raw in the middle. Mozzarella sticks were really soggy, the cheese was melted but the coating was not cooked at all. Kind of confusing However, the pizza was fantastic as was the other meals we got. Service made up for the lack of effort from the kitchen. We never lacked for drinks, so that helped a lot. Overall we would probably give it another shot simply due to the pizza being so good. But, probably won't order the mozzarella or a burger. Came on a whim and left on a whiff. First off be aware - this is a pricy spot. A sandwich or burger, if you want to add fries, will run you into the mid $20+. I really wanted to like this location because I've been to other Emmy Squared restaurants and always had great experiences. I ordered an appetizer and a pizza. The appetizer seemed to take quite a while. Eventually I overheard the server asking the kitchen about it, and it turned out they hadn't even started on it yet. Another staff member came out to apologize, and the appetizer followed soon after. To their credit, the Chicken Crunchers with pineapple chili glaze were excellent. The pizza, unfortunately, was a disappointment. The first few corner slices were good, but the pizza overall seemed underdone and the toppings were very unevenly distributed. The ends had barely any sauce, while the center was overloaded. When I tried one of the middle slices, the center was doughy and inedible. It was about 10 to 15 minutes before my server came back around, and I explained the issue. She offered to put it back in the oven, but by that point I was starting to feel sick to my stomach, so I declined and asked her to take it away. What left me most disappointed was the resolution, or lack thereof. I wasn't looking for a free meal, but even a partial discount on the pizza would have gone a long way. Overall, the service staff were polite and the appetizer was great, but the execution on the pizza and the way the situation was handled left me frustrated. Emmy Squared is located in the old Burger bach location in West Broad Village. I'm always excited to try a new restaurant and pizza is always a bonus! Walking in we could not see any employees in the restaurant. Several tables were occupied, but no staff were visible. We waited about three minutes before somebody came and seated us. Our server was nice, but rarely around and actually thought he had taken our order and came by to tell us it should be out soon when he in fact did not taken our order at all. We both had the salad and pizza option and it was very good. I had the Miranda pizza and Brussels sprouts salad and it was excellent. The restaurant seemed clean and well maintained. I would definitely come back again and I hope that they can get their service figured out. I ordered a gluten free cheese pizza with sauce on the side for my son who has celiac disease. No one answered the phone for an hour so I ordered in person. Came back 20 minutes later to take it home, only to hear they had to remake it because they added the sauce on top. Mop bucket was parked in the edge between the dining too and kitchen for the duration of my stay. Smell of bleach was faint but evident. I've never heard kitchen timers beep in anything other than fast food restaurants, but did here. Came for a lunch slice and took maybe 20 minutes, which seemed like a long time for how few people were here. Excellent tap menu of beer, much local. Staff were in traditional restaurant black attire, but a guy who seemed to be a manager (standing laptop at the bar and walking back and forth into the kitchen) dressed in old tattered jeans and a casual button-up. Not setting the standard. Pizza was pretty good. Sauce was not as reduced (thick) as I would expect on Detroit Style. Crisp edges on the crust but no frico (crispy fried cheese where it meets the pizza pan). Crust was light and lofty. Server was very attentive. I'd come back. FYI - The "third slice" $7 lunch special is actually two slices, or a third of an 8x10 pizza. Definitely filling. read more

We tried the Mediterranean Steak & Olive pizza (pictured) and it was absolutely loaded with flavor. Tender steak, caramelized onions, briny kalamata olives, spinach, and just the right amount of cheese on their signature crispy-edged crust. A unique combo that worked better than expected. For the little one, the kids pizza sticks were a solid win. Perfect portion, soft and cheesy, and kept him happy while we enjoyed the main event. Drinks were on point too. The Dos Fashioned, a smoked mezcal twist on an old fashioned, had a great balance of smoke, sweetness, and citrus. Definitely worth trying if you're a fan of mezcal. Service was friendly and attentive. Even though they're brand new, the team seems to be running smooth already. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. read more
