I rarely tell you to eat here. EAT HERE! This is a superb and excellent cake and pie bakery. The quality is the highest and the flavors and ingredients are the best. I have eaten almost every dessert they make and had a mocha almond flour butter cream cake made that I was embarrassed by how little she charged. In NYC it would have cost $100+ and her price was way below. Only one way for Louise to go; expand and raise prices commensurate to her quality and skill. I don't even know where to begin - if you are looking for a wedding cake baker look no further because Louise is the best. My husband and I chose the almond cake with butter cream frosting and a caramel whipped cream filling. We also had a second cake that was chocolate with raspberry filling. These cakes were INSANELY good. The guests at the wedding loved them and multiple people told me afterward that they stole unattended pieces off other people's tables (it's really that good)! We had quite a bit left over because we ordered some extra but it was all gone by Monday morning because we couldn't stop eating it - and my wedding was Saturday night! I ordered a Two Tier cake for my mother's 80th Birthday. It was unbelievably DELICIOUS! Chocolate with raspberry filling and a butter cream frosting. This cake was spectacular. Louise's artistic skill in decoration is over the top. I sent a few pictures and colors I was thinking of. She made it better than the pictures. The frosting was the best I've ever had. I got their almond cake for my boyfriends birthday, which was last minute. But their cake is really good, icing was perfect, not too sweet. Service was great. I cannot say enough positive things about Louise and her cake! Every single flavor of cake she makes is amazing. Thank god my fiance had the presence of mind to methodically choose flavors because I was just overwhelmed with deliciousness!!! We ended up leaving our wedding cake tasting appointment with several cupcakes, cream puffs, and eclairs and a beautifully designed cake. When I brought the goods home, my mother cried (!) at how good the cupcake was! The wedding cake was no exception. It was so so so beautiful and tasted AMAZING. Even "non-dessert" people loved it! I ordered a cake for a party for my new granddaughter -- chocolate cake with vanilla cream filling. Have to say it was just a delicious cake. Moist, light, not overly sweet. Really good cake. But it looked so pretty. It was decorated with tiny roses--just sweet for my new granddaughter. It was just so pretty! It cost only $50 for 20ish people. Worth every penny And more. I stopped in to pick up a few cupcakes to bring to a friend who has been ill. It was a Wednesday. There were a few choices for cupcakes but I was happy with the small selection. I chose a Red Velvet, Lemon, Chocolate and Vanilla. The owner mentioned the frosting is hard because they are refrigerated and to let them set out for a bit to get to room temperature. Okay - not a problem. After lunch we decided to try the small cupcakes. They looked delicious. My first choice was the lemon. What a disappointment. The frosting tasted like refrigerator. The filling tasted as if it came out of a can. The cake was okay. After two small bites, I threw it away and decided to try the red velvet. Cream cheese frosting was WAY too sweet and the cake was very dry. Two bites and in the trash it went My friend was not impressed by the chocolate or vanilla. For the price, the cup cakes were rather small. I see that the owner worked at JS Watkins - which I personally know freezes their baked goods and takes them out daily so they are "fresh". I would recommend this option as the two cupcakes I sampled were cleary stale and should not have been served. Overall the cupcakes were small, price high and baked goods stale - I will not return. I have had the hardest time trying to BE a customer here. I was really excited to order my friend's wedding cake from here because the pictures on their website confirmed the cake would look pretty, professional, and clean, but it's been over a week of me calling and being rejected just to get a quote. I sent them pictures, flavors, colors and a sketch 8 days ago, and I've been readily available to talk, but no one ever got back to me when they said. On one of the days I called in to check on my quote, I was yelled at and told that they were too busy to give me one. Maybe they're intimidated by the cake, but in any case, I got an email today with a quote for a standard wedding cake that serves 60 people tops, at $10 per person. That's a lot for cake and I live in Los Angeles. I also MAKE wedding cakes for a living and only charge that much when there's fondant and gum paste involved. A standard cake should come with a standard price, which for them, starts around $4.99 a serving, or that's what they said when I initially called in. My last straw was when they told me that my cake is last minute. I gave them plenty of notice and THEY took forever to get back to me. Way to blame the customer. read more

My husband and I chose Piece of Cake based on Yelp reviews for our wedding cake bakery. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Our cake tasting was complimentary and we were given a variety of cupcakes and frosting samples to choose from, as well as French press coffee on the side! We ended up choosing the almond cake with whipped cream and caramel filling with buttercream frosting. Louise then took us through the cake design process while drawing our cake free hand! She is not only an excellent baker but also a talented artist. :) Our cake was stunning and we received many compliments on it from our wedding guests who told us it was the best cake they had ever had! For those considering choosing Piece of Cake for their wedding: you also receive a complimentary cake on your one year anniversary! In light of this, we chose to eat the top of our cake in the week following our wedding, rather than freeze it. It was delicious even days after our wedding.
