Victor and his crew were efficient and strategic in helping us move. To cut some of our costs, we had all of our furniture disassembled and boxes packed prior to their arrival. We had about 3 bedrooms and full living room's amount of things and they were able to get everything loaded onto the truck in about 30-40 minutes. We moved from a townhouse to a high rise apartment so it was a pretty difficult move. However, Victor and his team were professional and fast which helped during a pretty stressful time. Overall, I'd recommend Piece of Cake movers to anyone who is looking for an affordable way to move. If you do most of the work ahead of the movers, it brings down the cost for you, and also makes their lives easier. We noticed a couple of scratches on furniture but that's also the nature of moving large pieces of furniture. read more

I have barely left any reviews in my life but felt like I had to after my experience with Piece of Cake. I have moved more than 6 times while in DC and have used different movers - I've typically been exceptionally loyal to Bookstore Movers, who have always been exceptional, but have experience with several. That said, I was impressed with Piece of Cake's model and their branding and they gave me the lowest quote so I decided to give it a shot. My experience has always been that movers will take items for me no matter how small, as long as they are contained. Upon coming into my home, the movers told me that they could not take items in tote bags, my food processor, other appliances. They told me I was "unprepared for the move" and began throwing my items into boxes. They were completely reckless with my items. I often saw things on the ground, there were times that I specifically asked them to be careful and they continued doing what they were doing. I found an antique clock and other items on their side on the ground, items left on the concrete outside. They were exceptionally rude, arguing with me and telling me how unprepared I was and that it had ruined their flow for the day. Then they took more than double the time than I ever have had with other movers. They broke my lamp and a couple of other fragile items even after I pointed out that it was fragile. AND, after all of that, I was asked to pay an extra $700 at the end of my move - ultimately paying more than I would have with other movers. I ended up paying $1500 for a 700 sqft move. I will never use Piece of Cake again, and will be giving my review to all of my peers as well. Just an awful experience. read more

After moving to the area, my wife and I need movers to unload our 16 foot POD. We reached out to many companies, and since we only needed unloading services, we were referred to Piece of Cake Movers. They offered the lowest price, and the workers were great. They wore a mask the entire time they were here. They unwrapped most of the items that were shrink-wrapped and even put the sofa together. They also moved around some furniture for us. I would highly recommend them for future loading and unloading needs. read more

Fantastic again! Used them twice in 1 year for separate moves and each crew they've sent have been fantastic. This time it was a gentleman called Batraz, and his colleague. They were the best! Very courteous, professional, and well-prepared!! We were scheduled for a 9:00 to 10:00 window. They called at 9:00, four gentlemen arrived promptly at 9:30, and worked VERY quickly, communicating when necessary the whole time. Highly recommend. Affordable prices, too. This is a long overdue shout out to Piece of Cake Movers. The work performed went beyond my expectations, starting with the estimator, the manager, the crew leader, and two employees. The crew provided stellar service moving my belongings from a house to a temporary housing and storage unit. Dana was very helpful, efficient, and friendly on the front end. She helped me figure out how big a storage unit space I needed, how many hours the move should take based on my inventory, and how much it would cost. On the day of the move, the three-man crew led by Victor showed up promptly. They were responsive, accommodating, kind, quick and very professional. They had all the necessary tools to skillfully take apart the furniture without a single glitch. They also carefully wrapped and protected my furniture with plastic wrap and blankets. Victor is a master when it comes to efficiently load up the truck and maximizing the use of space in the storage facility. The manager, Baxter, was called in to help when it was noted that a fourth man was needed to help move my heavy Henredon china cabinet. He also followed up to make sure that I was happy with his crew - a remarkable customer service gesture. This has been my finest experience with a moving company. The rates were extremely reasonable with no hidden costs. Moving can be very stressful and they made the actual move easy. Never imagined that our moving experience would turn into a nightmare. It all started when they moved the time from Thursday to Friday and then on the day of the move from 9-11 am window to 2-4 pm window. They offered 5% discount for that. We waited for them for hours. The crew showed up around 6:15 pm. We were offered another 5% discount to compensate for this delay but when the supervisor charged my ATM card he did not take that additional discount into consideration. The crew were so late that we had to reschedule our cleaning crew which was supposed to follow them. The movers refused to take the TV (they could have put it in a blanket), wall art (around 6-7 pieces), and already boxed china dinner set. After they left, we realized that they had left behind a sturdy bag full of linen, a full size carpet, a futon cover (which was supposed to be taken with the futon) with the dimensions of a quilt, glass table top of the night stand and parts of a bed they disassembled among many other items. They did not know how to disassemble one IKEA bed properly and could not assemble it back at all. The same way, the outdoor table was not disassembled and when it could not be moved to upstairs deck, they left it in the garage. They did not bother to read instructions on boxes and left many of the boxes meant for allotted rooms in the garage. Its ironic that that even though they made the second trip (to our new place 15 minutes away), my wife literally had to beg them to take some of the stuff that they "could not take," which they could have with minor adjustments. It was getting so late; they were extremely tired and wanted to leave which is hardly surprising. The next day, we had to do a U-Haul pickup truck to move the extra things which cost me money. I also had to move my carpet cleaning to another time because of this fiasco. I was charged a 5% fee on an ATM/Debit card. Their website mentions a transition fee for credit cards - not debit cards. They are NOT the same. It felt like a rip off and if they were a financial institution, I would have reported them to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I have moved 4 times before - in and outside of the US and this has been by far the worst experience I have had. read more

For me communication is very important and Emily/ Alex went above and beyond in responding to my queries and sending the quotes, like they are there for anything. Movers arrived at the right time frame. They both were extremely efficient, organized and professional. I truly wish I could give them 4 stars because their movers are polite, professional, and quick. However, the home office, their communication frequency, and response time is extremely slow and unprofessional. On my move day, the movers were supposed to come between 1 -5, they ended up coming at 6 and it took my call at 4:30 PM to initiate the process of tracking them down. The home office didn't even know where they were and didn't even bother to call me to let me know they are running late until I call them. Since then (19 days ago), I filed a claim about my move challenges, and they have yet to call or reply. Very disappointing management and customer service. read more

Not budget friendly, no customer service and quote misrepresentations and add-ons to run up the fee. I think these Movers change their names after so many negative reviews. The quote for moving furniture to fill a 10 x 20 first floor storage unit was 4 hours or less than $1k--no boxes, no packing, no hassle--just large furniture pieces. These Movers were very slow slow, completing the job 11 hours later with $2k+ in charges; and, they missed a desk and bookcase. I called the Manager, Andrew, to voice concern about both issues, who said "too bad." He said that I could pay $450 to have the items moved, which I needed to happen due to a Sale Closing the next day. I asked to speak to his Supervisor who, he said is the Owner, and stated "she does not deal with these matters that's why you have me." So, I curbed my ego, agreed to pay the extra and noted that he could expect a tart review. Then, he started to back pedal saying "are you really worth it." Guess what? They never showed up. No Customer Service and Slow Movers, which is designed to run up the price. Other reviews are consistent with my experience. My mistake for not doing more social media research. When I called them, originally, it was under a different name--I did not do the research on this name. The movers that were sent for my job, George, Edwin, and Gabriel Santa, were absolutely magnificent. They worked hard the entire day, in the rain, and stayed very late in to the night to be sure my move was completed. I have never seen anyone pack a truck the way that Gabriel does! It was amazing. I cannot recommend them high enough. If I were rating the movers themselves, this would be a 5 star review. Unfortunately, my experience with the office and actual price vs estimated price were a very different story. I specifically chose to use a moving company that has their own trucks to ensure that a full sized moving van was used. I've had issues renting UHauls in the past, and wanted to avoid any possibility of getting a smaller truck and making multiple trips. I was dumbfounded when the movers arrived in a 16' truck to move my three floor fully furnished townhouse to first floor, drive-up, storage 30 miles away. I knew immediately that it would not work, and called the owner to discuss the truck. He told me that they would have to make two trips, but I would not be charged for the second trip. Ultimately, the move required 3 trips because a small amount was left after fully packing the truck for the second trip. The move began at 9:20 am and it was done at 11 pm. The estimate I originally received was for $645 to $774. At 11:15 last night, I paid over $1,600 to move from Woodbridge to Fredericksburg. I was in a bind. My movers cancelled on me the day of my move, about two hours before. I reached out to some contacts with inquiries for companies that could assist me for a next day move. Within 2 hours of submitting my blind requests, Piece of Cake reached out to me (Dana) and they confirmed my job by 4PM for the next day. I worked with Dana to ensure that my movers could arrive on the earlier side. Ariel and Victor were my moving specialist. They came with dollies, blankets, tape, laundry bins and furniture dollies to move my items. They handled all items with care and moved some pretty complex and intricate items with ease and efficiency. After finishing my move in 2 hours (4 were scheduled), ensuring all boxes were placed in the room it was labeled for, Victor was kind enough to stay behind and attached the screen to my peloton. My movers alleviated so much anxiety by handling my items with care. And I had all range of items, packed in everything from boxes to bags and suitcases. Piece of Cake Movers had competitive (read affordable) pricing and delivered white glove service to me in a time of immense stress. This was by far one of the worst experiences I have encountered from movers in the last 10 years. I have moved multiple times and this company by far was the least prepared and least communicative. I confirmed the week and day before my move the times and locations and they managed to screw all of the above up. They promised to show up at my house in DC at 8AM and didn't show up until 4PM. I called them on the hour for an update and they could not provide an answer but instead referred me to the manager who Emily, the sales rep, would not name nor give them my contact information. The manager NEVER called me and still has not to this day to talk about my experience. That said one they did show up, they did not have enough people and wanted to complete the packing over a two day period despite me telling them that was not possible. Only after telling them I would refuse to pay, did they get more team members to help pack and load the truck. After they finished packing at 1030PM, I asked them if they would be ready to drive up to NY as promised and deliver my stuff by 10AM the next day. They indicated they would get up at 5AM and make the drive to meet their commitment. The next morning, I received no communication until I called the business after 9AM asking for an update to which they replied the truck hadn't left yet and wouldn't leave until 11:30AM. After hitting traffic on the way here, they show up at 5:45PM and were unable to make both stops as indicated and had to wait ANOTHER day to complete the move for me. The manager STILL DID NOT CALL ME despite all the issues. This move which should have been a 2 day move over a holiday weekend ended up taking an extra day and resulted in a lot of stuff being mixed up between the two sites because the movers were rushed and a sloppy. I was promised a 28ft truck for my move; the day of the move the movers showed up with a 10ft truck which resulted in several trips. I contacted the office she assured me they would not charge me for the extra trips and I would not have to pay for the time. Long story short, my move didn't end until 1am and my items in storage were not able to be picked up but I was charged for all the hours to include the back and forward. If there were zero stars as an option I would have rated them that. I used them for my move my furniture and the movers damaged some of my furnitures. I took pictures and made a complaint, they never did anything about it and ever time i tried to follow up they had me run around to different people ( multiple mangers and bosses) . Most of my furniture they moved were from ikea. It was a rainy day and i asked them to make sure to cover all my furniture which they ignored and i had damaged nightstands from the water which i had to replace thats how bad it was and also creaked my mirror on of my furniture and another dresser they placed the door unevenly. My mattress they dragged it on the ground so it had all these marks on it which i also had to replace it. I have been very patient and trying to give them a chance but they took that as my weakness and took advantage of it. Everyone stay away from them, they are not the people you want to deal with. Now I am moving what they moved across the room I noticed how they also broke the leg on my desk. This company does fraudulent charging. They charged me for a bunch of things after the fact like shrink wrap (which they didn't use), tape (to tape blankets on three things), and travel time. I asked multiple times before hand if there were any other fees and they didn't tell me these things. The movers were on time and polite, but they also didn't move some items so I had to do more running back and forth. Go with a different company. read more

Horrible moving company. My furniture endured significant damage and little to no empathy. Company wanted to payout 400 for bed that was well over 3,000. The insurance provided only pays out 60 cents per pound. Please read the fine print and avoid their moving services. This was the first time I used this company and the movers themselves were great. Extremely polite and did a good job. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the EXCESSIVE amount of emails, texts, calls and voicemails. After I received my quote I received, at a minimum, 3 of each for 4 days. It felt like borderline harassment. The only reason I went with this company is because the one I originally booked had to cancel last minute because of Covid-19. Also, Piece of Cake Movers charges you for the plastic wrap for couches & tape THEY decide to use. I told them that I had tape, I just didn't know what they wanted me to tape shut more and to just ask. Again, the movers were professional and very nice guys. The administrative end of this company needs to be looked at and overhauled. I would have given this company 2 stars had it not be for the movers. read more

We went with this company because of a recommendation by a friend, but our experience was anything but easy. Our contracted window for a two bedroom apartment was 8:30-10:30 am. The movers did not show up until 12:30 and were not responsive in the time that they were late. Once they arrived, they realized that they had read the contract wrong and had only sent a truck and men for a one bedroom apartment instead of a two bedroom. We had to then help them in moving our belongings because they would not have all fit into the truck they brought with them. They were being paid hourly, so they moved extremely slow and texted in between every round of bringing boxes to the stairs. Our boxes were also turned upside down and sideways when they were moving. Once everything was loaded into the truck, they left to grab a snack on the way to the new house which would have been fine except that they were gone for 30 minutes and were not communicating with us about where they were or when they would arrive. This made me uncomfortable because they had a majority of our belongings with them. The job was slated to last 3 hours and could have been done much faster, but they dragged it out to be a five hour job. read more

This move, already stressful, was made even more so by this company. We had requested a packing day and then a moving day. We received an email the night before the packing day reminding us that we were moving the next day. We emailed back and reminded them that we'd wanted a packing day. We were told the instructions would be changed. However, when the crew arrived the following morning, they expected to move us. Apparently, management did not communicate to the crew. As a result, we ended up paying more than we had been quoted as the crew didn't have all the boxes needed. On top of that, they moved everything, once packed, down to the first floor and apparently at least one box, if not two, got put with things that were later picked up by a junk company we had hired. This was after the crew was told at least twice NOT to put stuff there. We only discovered missing items nearly a month after the move because it took that long to unpack everything as we were integrating two households. Among the missing items were medical supplies. We contacted the company, got told they would talk to management and have not since heard back. We do not recommend this company at all. read more
