Working with Chrissie / Pied Beauty Studios was an incredible experience, and I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for custom-made clothing! I worked with Chrissie to create my dream wedding outfit, and she delivered something that was truly better than I could have imagined. I felt so beautiful and had so much fun wearing it! I got so many compliments from friends and family, and I felt truly like myself. I came to Chrissie with a pretty clear vision of the overall look I wanted to achieve, but with many unresolved details. Chrissie started by creating detailed sketches that pulled together my wishlist into something beautiful and unified. She created a muslin "draft" of the outfit first, and in a session in her studio she built out the garment on my body while we talked through different decisions. She even made the pant legs in two different styles, so I could decide which direction to take! She also pulled fabric samples and found the perfect colors and lace patterns. She even met with me at a fabric store so that we could look at and buy the cloth together. The process of building the outfit in the satin/silk happened across a few sessions, and Chrissie made sure to get every detail just right. Throughout the process, Chrissie was a joy to work with. She made the process so fun and put me at ease. She was always attentive and listened to my questions and ideas, and helped shape my ideas into something beautiful and real. For anyone who doesn't see themselves in a traditional wedding dress, but wants to feel incredible on their wedding day, I cannot recommend working with Chrissie enough! read more

Christine! She is a master at her craft! I couldn't even get my hand through the cuff of my shirt dress and didn't understand how to make the buckling at the bottom below the waist stop. She effortlessly sewed in Victorian button loops for the cuff and offered a brilliant solution for the "too tight" bottom! She is super friendly and really considerate. Chrissie was really nice. She responded to messages quickly, finished the job promptly, and was pleasant to work with. She hemmed a jumpsuit and sundress, and fitted the bodice / added padding for another dress -- all in a week. She was patient, didn't rush, and made me feel comfortable. My one complaint is that she didn't disclose an extra cost upfront. When I tried on my sundress, the back was longer than the front. The dress fit unevenly in the first place, but Chrissie had pinned the new length evenly during my initial visit, so that's what I expected and wanted. She kindly offered to re-hem the dress or adjust the elastic waistband (to even the length without re-hemming). She said the elastic fix was simple and would be faster, so I chose that. I thought it was a free adjustment to the original hemming job. She did it then and there in 15 minutes and the result looked good, but she didn't tell me it would cost an extra $20. The hem was $25, so the price for the sundress nearly doubled. I would have just kept the dress as-is if I'd known that. I would still recommend Chrissie -- I liked her a lot personally and the clothes fit well. I just wish the pricing had been more transparent. She didn't charge for another post-tailoring adjustment (smoothing the other dress's pointy bust), so I would just be sure to ask whether changes cost more. read more

Chrissie is absolutely great. She responded to my Yelp message within the hour I sent, allowed me to text her photos of the gown I needed hemmed and taken out, and was super accommodating with my appointment although I was an absolute mess that weekend. The estimated time she gave me to fix my dress was so much faster than the rest and she didn't allow me to worry at all about the event or the dress because she had everything taken care of. She really does seem like a wonderful person. She was very accommodating and was available rather soon with a great turn around time. As soon as I met her, I felt that I had made a really great choice to choose someone to hem a dress I bought online. I was looking for a seamstress, but she is more than that. She's a fashion designer and an artist, I didn't even need to try the dress on again after she hemmed it. Chrissie is great! I bought a couple of suits that needed alterations, and called her after I read her reviews on Yelp. She did not disappoint. She was able to set up time with me quickly and even offered to come to my apartment to measure for alterations. I ended up going to her studio, where she walked me through the different options. Her work was fantastic - she made the alterations quickly, and even was able to fix an old suit jacket that had a nagging issue with the sleeves. To top it all off, she hand delivered all of the items back to me at my home! I would recommend Chrissie, as she does great work, is extremely warm and friendly, and made the whole experience simple! read more

I could stare at her artwork all day! Chrissie has completed several projects for me from logo design to restoring vintage clothing. She is so creative and professional, I've got an ever increasing list of things I want her to help me with that she doesn't even know about yet. I've seen some of her works in progress for others too and I never cease to be in awe of her talent: custom wedding dresses, lingerie, clothing for kids and pets and her tattoo designs are so awesome, I'm thinking of getting my first one just to have one of her beautiful drawings! Her paintings are full of gorgeous personality, humor and color. Stay Away!!!! Chrissie Dowler is full of excuses.. She only wants to get paid upfront and then makes broken promises! I gave her material to make a jacket and skirt suit and after 2 months she shows up with scraps of material.. nothing to what we discussed.. she became upset and nasty when i was unhappy with the results. She destroyed hundreds of dollars of material and did not want to refund any of my money... she threw the material and walked away.. she has not yet to return my calls! Horrible experience... i think she is a con artist posing as a tailor.. the images on her website are not her work and she must have her freinds posting reviews for her... read more

I have a wardrobe full of beautiful vintage and designer clothing...all in a size 2. They are the most beautiful and uniquely designed pieces which took me FOREVER to collect. It pained me to think about letting them all go. But alas, it had been years, and realty struck and I am no longer a size 2 . I've had a couple of kiddies and it was time for me to be real with myself: i wasn't going down to a size 2 again. A friend told me about their pleasant experience with Chrissie and I decided to let her try her hand with a few of my precious teensy pieces.
