I brought two pairs of pants here for alteration. One was a pair of jeans - I'm short, so even 30" long jeans have to be taken up so I don't look like an oompa loompa. I asked her "can you sew the original hem back on?" since many tailors that I've been to over the years do just that She said no, too thick. She will hem it to look just like the original. Okay, fine. Well I arrive to pick them up and the hem on the jeans is a solid 1" thick wide. I nearly blew a gasket. I calmly explain that this looks nothing like the hem on a pair of jeans, which is what I said I wanted. She apologized and rehemmed the jeans while I waited. Nevertheless, I think I'll take my next alterations elsewhere. read more

Literally horrible. I gave her some pants to tailor (along with some other clothes). She completely forgot to tailor them so I had to come back two days later to pick them up again- she also forgot to give me a ticket for it so I had to return to get a ticket- then, when I picked them up they came with stains that had not been there before. She claimed this was why she was confused and did not tailor and said she told me this, but that is a lie. She said she had been confused bc she thought the length was incorrect, not because of stains. She also had the opportunity to tell me this when I returned for the ticket, and she did not do so. She was also very rude in my interactions with her. Will not be returning and don't think anyone else should either. read more

This review is a few months late but I just needed to share that Lucky U is a literal LIFESAVER. I came in to Lucky U in a panic. I was going to an Indian wedding in a few days and the dress that I thought I ordered online arrived as just fabric. I literally ran to Lucky U with a very ridiculous request, "Can you sew me a dress from this fabric in just 2 days?" The owner was happy to help and immediately got to work. Not only did she finish my dress with professionalism and care, but she actually had it ready early! And I received so many compliments on my outfit. I gave a number of items to this cleaner. Although most were successfully cleaned, a vintage silk dress I sent in was roughly handled, as she sends all items to a factory. She did not mention that they would be sent out of house beforehand. The dress came back with multiple pulls on the silk, the designer label tag was missing, and one of the straps was partially ripped. There were several light stains initially that she warned me would probably not be removed. I decided to go ahead in hopes they would be lightened. The stains were lightened, but the garment was ruined for the reasons stated above, particularly the pulls. I do not recommend going to her for anything delicate or that you don't want industrially dry cleaned. Ultimately, she fixed the strap at my insistence despite much resistance and gave me *some* of my money back. She tried to make me think I was unreasonable for these very obvious issues with the dress, namely the pulls on the silk, the lost tag, and the ripped strap. read more

While the tailoring was fast and cheap, the hem on my jeans looked like it was done by an amateur: the line was extremely wavy, with the thread looping back on itself in places, creating chunks of thread, and it was the entirely wrong color for the jeans. Considering hemming is one of the most basic skills for tailoring, I cannot recommend their service. read more

Aside from great work (I've had clothes dry cleaned, hemmed, and had deep stains removed from a vintage silk kimono), the owner is a gem. She genuinely cares about her customers, even offering complimentary drop off/pick up for local customers. And the turnaround time has also been swift. I can't believe I'm actually about to write a review for dry cleaning... The struggles of being short is real. Finding shirts and pants that aren't too long is nearly impossible. Thankfully, I found this place. Originally I came in to get a pea coat dry cleaned, but saw that they did alterations as well. I had 7 shirts and 3 pairs of pants that all needed to be shortened a couple inches. The lady who helped me was so sweet and cheerful the entire time. She even gave me a discount. Normally it would've been $14 a shirt and $9 for pants, but she took off $2 a shirt since I had so many. Dry cleaning my coat was $20. Altogether, the total came out to about $130 ish. I was shocked since I got quotes from so many different places and it was easily $150 just for the alterations. To top it all off, they offer free pick up and delivery! I asked her to deliver once everything was done since I wouldn't be able to make it back to the store in time during the week and she was happy to do that. The woman who works here (didn't catch her name but she's wonderful) not only made it happen but she caught a stain on my brand new pants and rush dry cleaned it as well. I've gone there twice for alterations. The first time the alteration was done so poorly if I put anything in my pockets, the entire jacket buckles up. Unfortunately, I didn't discover this until I had already brought a second piece, to get to zippers replaced. One zipper zips up and one zipper zips down. read more

If you read any of my past dry cleaning reviews you'll quickly realize I'm quite particular when it comes to the process. My gorilla arms combined with medium body have rendered most off the rack options untenable to me, so I tend to invest a lot in tailor made shirts. Thus, a place that is properly able to differentiate dry cleaning from launder and press is key (and you'd be amazed to see how many places don't actually differentiate). Anyways, all this to say that Lucky U knows what they're doing. They dry clean on premises, for a reasonable cost. It's a small place, but the people who run it are lovely and friendly and my clothes are always ready when they say it'll be ready (again, you'd be surprised at how often that's not the case). They're a bit farther from me than I'd like, but that's not their problem. I've lost approx $300 in ruined shirts trying other places closer by so you know what... I'll do the walk. Wow! Wow! Wow! I have never been so satisfied with a Dry Cleaners! If you want Same-Day / Next Day -Service make sure to drop off by 9:30AM. The staff was extremely friendly and patient! I dropped of 14 items... coats, sweaters, jumpsuits, jackets and shirts! Oh and I needed a rip to be sewn. Total was about $115.... oh yea! Oh yea! I originally went to another tailor on 7th Avenue, but they turned me down and told me that they would need AT LEAST 2 weeks to hem my dress because it was wedding season. Thank goodness I found Lucky U! These lovely ladies not only helped me right away, they told me it would be ready later that day! Wow. I'm happy to share that I got my dress back and it's perfect. AMAZING job! I didn't get anything dry cleaned but I had Connie (the owner) take in and hem a bridesmaids dress for me. I was weary to bring it to just another dry cleaning place for alterations but Connie really knows what she's doing when it comes to sewing - it's also her passion so she enjoys and takes pride in doing it. I was also so worried because I'm last minute like usual and was freaking out because I'm MOH for my sisters wedding and lost about 20 pounds - so my dress was HUGE on me to say the least! It also had boning and material gathering at the chest and waist. Connie saved the day! She had my dress DONE in 3 days!!! I brought it in on Monday tried it on again on Wednesday with shoes and picked up on on Thursday! She did an impressive job and was an absolute sweetheart along the way!
