I am 75 yrs old with a large medicare insurance policy. I have no need of OB care, obviously. I called to schedule an appointment for a mammogram and was told this practice does not accept Medicare patients. So, if you want a practice who is more concerned with making money, rather than a focus on providing treatment to to a full range of women, including retirement age patients, go ahead and call this practice. Every woman who has had babies and are now grandmothers, as well as women who have decided not to have babies will need gynecology care one day. My daughter has recently married and she and her husband are planning a family in the next year. She was the first person I called when I hung up from trying to schedule an appointment with Piedmont OBGYN. She said she would never want to put a physician in care of her and her babies who would refuse to treat her mother. She also said she would be calling all of her friends to tell them about this practice and it's philosophies. read more

Worst obgyn experience ever. I'm pregnant without insurance and Piedmont ob-gyn quoted me a $5000 fixed fee for all of my prenatal visits and labor. I went ahead and began my visits here because even though it seemed expensive I decided the care would be worth it. At my first appointment I was charged an additional $600 for an initiation appointment, which consisted of a very rushed meeting with my assigned doctor where she pretty much just recommended a book that I read without giving me any further instructions on prenatal care. I felt disappointed that I paid $600 for information I could have effectively gotten for $20 on Amazon. When I mentioned I wanted a natural hospital birth my doctor let me know they could induce me at 37 weeks. I knew from that point that we were on different pages but I decided that maybe it would be fine. The next visit consisted of blood work which my doctor told me would cost about $100 out of pocket. I ended up being billed $1000 even though I'm healthy and everything was fine. The next visit, which I assumed was included in my $5000 quoted price, turned out to also be an additional $500. When I asked to speak with a financial advisor she told me that I'm "not a good fit" for Piedmont and that I should probably seek care elsewhere. The whole experience was awful and a waste of money and now I'm pregnant with no doctor. They offered no additional maternity obgyn recommendations in Atlanta and instead literally took my money, gave me no help and could not have cared less about me or my baby. It was one of the worst ob experiences you can while pregnant and I would avoid this place at all costs. The only good thing about it is the receptionist that sits in the middle at the main desk when you enter. She was always super welcoming and helpful. The ob I was assigned was Cantey Dogan. Her nurse was also rude, as were most of the other receptionists I was who booked my appointments and gave me the wrong info about costs. For the record I'm 30 years old and healthy with no history of disease and pregnant with one child and they treated me like shit. Edit: I forgot to mention that when I asked for my medical records Dr. Dogan had written in my medical history that I am 35 years old. I'd read quite a bit at this point about the legendary, Dr. Kleiss (the superstar of reviewed gynos), and was determined to see her. Alas, she wasn't to be available for another three months (!!!). So I met with Dr. Combs instead--who by the way is new, accessible, and awesome. Highlights: the stirrups have fuzzy socks on them for you to rest your feet, making the whole chair look markedly friendlier and less "Inquisition"-like. The dreaded apparatus rests on a heated pad before use (I can't begin to say how much better that is than the alternative). And finally, Dr. Combs was lively, engaged, and friendly. I'm blushing (and yes that's possible) just reviewing the lady doctor. But in searching for a new OB-GYN, I found these reviews extremely helpful, so I figure I need to pay it forward. read more

I have heard great things about the physicians in this practice but unfortunately their user experience with getting appointments scheduled is absolutely terrible, outdated and very challenging for someone with a job. My doctor cancelled my appointment and so I just called to reschedule and I am not exaggerating the call took 28 minutes and 37 seconds. This is for a basic, routine check-up - nothing out of the ordinary! I first started going to this office when years ago I was suffering from massive pain on my left abdominal. I couldn't get an appointment, the staff simply said there would not be any opening for any new patient until 3 months later. I had to call back my primary physician and spoke to his assistant telling him I could not get any appointment. The very sweet Bob said not to worry, he would call the Piedmont Ob-Gyn office for me. Less than 30 minutes later, he called back and said he got an appointment the following week. Granted, I did not get to see Dr. Kleiss or Dr. Comb, I am fine with Dr. Bennett. She is nice but I would not compare her to a leading ob-gyn i have been seeing in Singapore for a long time. It is just not fair. Fast forward to 2014, my pain has gone. Not because of any medication or procedure, the problem simply resolved on its own. Mind you I have extremely high tolerance of pain, so when I complained about my pain, my mom and everyone at home were concerned. I supposed to have a yearly appointment last January but the office called to cancel my appointment due to the "snow storm" we had. Of cos, that was easy to understand. The staff said they would call back to reschedule. One day I received an automated call from the office confirming an appointment that I did not set up nor being consulted . I could not make it and I called the office to cancel it. I did not reschedule another appointment to a later date. Why? Let me briefly describe the office, the waiting area is huge but the noise can be unbearable. I am not sure if it has to do with the huge number of patients in that practice or the babies/toddlers crying. The whole environment gives me anxiety. Not to mention the noise from those doors kept slamming many times within a minute. It is like a slaughter house. This is possibly the noisiest doctor's office I have ever been in my life. So you can imagine my reluctance to go there even for a yearly visit. This is year 2015. Ok I feel guilty about skipping my yearly appointment last year. I clearly remembered I scheduled an appointment today at 11.30am. When I reached there at 11am, I was told my appointment was 9.30am. I was not happy. I dragged myself out in the cold rain, sat in one of those uncomfortable chairs (I am not sure where that plushy chair one yelper was raving about was) and endured the noise from crying toddlers, doors slamming and people in general talking loudly, I was ready to get home and take an Advil. The staff gave me another appointment alright, almost a month later on 4/3 just cos I prefer a morning appointment. Oh to rub salt in the wound, I was told Dr. Bennett was not even in the office but was conducting a surgery. Why didn't anyone call to let me know this morning or if I was running late since to them my appointment was at 9.30am? My friend just asked me why don't I change another doctor, I said I might. I like Dr. Bennett, she is nice but the whole environment is not doing me any good. Let's see what happens to my appointment a day before my birthday. Now I am thinking... I have been a patient of this practice for over 10 years with Dr Combs as my primary doctor. My 3 kids were delivered by Dr Combs. I cannot speak more highly of her personal care and genuine compassion throughout all my pregnancies and routine check-ups. When I have rotated doctors, I have always been pleased by the depth of knowledge and empathy from every doctor in the practice. Some days the wait times are long. Personally for me the quality of the care makes it worthwhile, I just bring my laptop or a book along. read more

Is it weird for a guy to be reviewing an OB/GYN? In short, yes. But hey, I saw Dr. Combs the first few times around when I accompanied my then newly-expecting wife. Dr. Combs (and rest of the practice) was highly recommended by Yelpers and non-Yelpers alike. They also were located where my wife wanted to give birth--in Piedmont Hospital. So yeah, I reviewed them. Besides, I paid for it. Now my sample size for OB/GYNs with whom I have experience is exceedingly small, but I've met some pretty arrogant docs with Mengle-like bedside manners; to my panicked soon-to-be-a-new-dad-and-wtf-was-I-thinking? Dr. Combs was the complete opposite. She took care to explain everything in great detail, and believe me, since she was planning on a purely drug-free, natural birth, my wife was asking plenty of questions--question after question. Meanwhile, I sat there transfixed, most likely on some nearby plastic anatomical model of a vagina, not because it was sexy, mind you, but because there was my child growing adjacent to a vaj right next to me and I was quietly freaking out. Anyway, my wife LOVED Dr. Combs. However, pregnancies being what they are, she did inform us that there's always a chance she wouldn't actually be there for the delivery. And, yep, that was the case. My wife did as was suggested and rotated her visits among all the docs and gushed about all of them. "They're all relatively new moms too!" she would tell me as my eyes glazed over in unspoken hysteria. I wish I could remember who was the one who actually delivered our baby, but it was all I could do to remember to breath at that point, especially when she shoved those scissors into my hand and asked me to cut the umbilical cord. One last note that only tangentially relates to the practice: there's only one exit and entrance AND it's a fairly popular practice so, if you happen to be accompanying your wife on her first few visits, don't be surprised if you run into a friend long before you're actually ready to tell anyone what's going on. If I had one quibble, it'd be the lack of ninja trap doors for a speedy, covert exit. Long story short, I needed a pap smear ASAP. So I checked the list of doctors I could go to in the area via my current provider (Aetna). So I'm going through the list and googling the doctors of course... and ran across several at the Piedmont OBGYN. So I called at about 8:30am, and very politely inquired about seeing a doctor the same day. The girl on the phone, in her valley girl/airhead/boujee tone responds, "Liiike, we-don't-have anything, like I definitely can't get you ta-day" Of course I understand not being able to get me today since it's last minute, but then I inquire about openings. She says they're all booked until January. So I asked, "Every single doctor booked for the next 2 months"? She arrogantly replies back, in her valley girl voice"Yea-ea, sorry". Maybe she didn't mean to come off so rude. But I mean geez! To have several doctors that are supposedly some of the best, you would think they would have really great nice receptionist/front desk people, but that's not the case. She didn't even offer to schedule me in, nor did she suggest calling back next week b/c this doctor or that doctor may have an opening. Also, they haven't updated themselves online/in the system b/c even though it says they're all accepting new patients, she said that only one doctor was. Idk, I was just taken aback. I think OBGYN's should all be very nice and accommodating since they're dealing with women and their bodies -- a very sensitive area. So for the front face of their practice to be so rude, is just... bad. I called a few other Piedmont practices, they weren't too nice, but they atleast offered to schedule me in within the next week or so. Finally I got THE nicest receptionist for one practice associated with Northside Hospital, and wow world's different (seriously COMPLETE OPPOSITE). She was articulate, soft-spoken, just so nice. The doctor I wanted, who has very high marks and is rated very high, had an opening for about a week and a half from now. She's actually ranked higher than most if not all of the doctors at Piedmont OBGYN. That said, my matter is slightly urgent, so the very nice receptionist scheduled me in for Monday with another doctor at the practice. If all goes well (or if not) I'll be sure to review that practice as well... or maybe I won't so that I can keep it my secret :-) Of course I sorta prefer to go to the practice at Piedmont since it's just an 8 minute drive down the street, but I definitely don't mind driving 12 minutes longer (20 minutes longer) for better service. Also, sidenote: Why isn't this practice a bit more diverse in terms of the doctors at the practice, sorta weird, but hey that's life I guess. UPDATE: Went to the other practice, associated with Northside Hospital. OMG you guys, they were super amazing. Everyone in there was nice, even the patients were classy (fashion forward, stylish, and articulate). I was at home there. Diverse staff, asian, black, white, latino. It was lovely. Honestly, it was a complete blessing that I got rude service from Piedmont OBGYN because otherwise I wouldn't have ended up at this one. Cheers! read more

Dr. Combs is the 4th gynecologist I've had in my life and she is hands down the best! #1: the only option at the campus clinic. very detached and primarily concerned with dispensing drugs. #2 (Dr. Law of Atlanta Medical Center): friend of/referred by my parents (awkward). really old man (awkward x2) who I only had 2 visits with before he retired. #3 (Dr. Lemon of Atlanta Medical Center): default transfer from Dr #2 after his retirement. looong waits despite making an appointment, very impersonal, get to see the doctor for maybe 5 minutes max during your 2 hours there (mostly spent in the waiting room). there were visits where I never saw her at all because she trained a midwife to do paps! After 4+ years with Dr. Lemon, I finally decided to see what else was out there and found Dr. Combs. Granted, scheduling an appointment a few months out seemed like a hassle, but it also reassured me that she would be worth the wait. My first visit was much better than I imagined: * huuuge & comfy waiting area * the waiting area WASN'T packed with 5 other moms who each brought their 2.5 loud & obnoxious kids, running around, jumping on the couch and trying to play with my hair... yes, that's what I had gotten used to at Atlanta Medical Center * my appointment started ON TIME and I was out of there in 1 hour! * the staff were all super friendly * the stirrups had Christmas socks on them =) * I got to speak to Dr. Combs (who is, by the way, the easiest person in the world to talk to) in length about anything and everything prior to getting undressed * $35 copay compared to $45 at Dr. Lemon's Post visit, I got a followup call from Morgan (Dr. Combs' secretary) exactly when she said she would call to get an update about whether my insurance policy covered certain birth control options that I had discussed with Dr. Combs. Morgan was also able to answer alot of my questions over the phone which I was very impressed with. I won't be switching doctors for as long as I live in Atlanta. read more

This is one of the worst practices that I have ever had to deal with. I had to leave my amazing doctor in NYC for this joke of a practice. As a New Yorker, I am extremely comfortable with the fast pace lifestyle and with doctors dealing with high volumes of patients. This group cannot handle anything... secretaries never answer the phones and never leave courtesy appointment reminders. They dismiss people from the practice for not showing up to appointments but no one is there answering the phone so that appointments can be canceled or changed. It's a huge disappointing mess. Dr. El Gammal not only broke Hippa Violation by having her secretary leave test results on my voice mail .. actually not my voice mail because she had the wrong number, but also sent BRCA1&2 test results to me through the mail that were lost in the process. I have never heard of anything like this. I never leave bad reviews, but women need to be warned about this doctor and this practice. I have already filed formal complaints against this practice. Stand up for yourself ladies in order to protect others. EEk! Me thinks not on Piedmont OB-GYN !! read more

Absolutely love this practice! I had a phenomenal experience throughout my whole pregnancy. I was very anxious with it being my first pregnancy- they were so reassuring and helpful throughout every step. The front office staff, nurses and doctors were always so pleasant and helpful. Each appointment, phone call and my hospital stay were amazing. My primary dr was Dr. Bennett- I highly recommend her! So easy to talk to and took her time with me. These ladies comprise the practice that took care of me for the pregnancy and birth of my child. Dr. Kleiss is my doctor, but throughout your pregnancy you meet with each doctor at least once, (since there's a good chance that your doctor will not be the one delivering your child). Having done that, it really does feel like I'm a patient of the practice, not just my doctor. This is a really good group of women - all knowledgeable and friendly. Don't be worried if one you'd heard good things about isn't available when you first call, because all these ladies will listen and address your concerns. Dr. Williams ended up being my doctor through the delivery, and she was absolutely wonderful. She kept me informed and thoroughly explained everything that was happening and all the possible scenarios, so that I wasn't freaking out from fear of the unknown. I will say that I'm normally a no-questions-for-the-doctor kind of girl, and these women are so busy that they don't volunteer as much information unasked. So be prepared to talk it out and know what you want to ask. Now that I've been through one pregnancy, I'm prepared with plenty of questions along the way for the next one. The thing about doctors' offices is that you spend a lot more time with the support staff than with the doctors themselves. And this practice has a great support staff. Each doctor has her own primary nurse and her own secretary, so that getting in and out is fast and easy. I never waited more than 30 minutes, and most visits, I was in and out in under an hour (which is important, because the parking deck is $4 for that hour, cash only!). They helped with all the corporate paperwork, even reminding me when my signature was lacking on some FMLA documentation, and then faxing it in for me. There's a board on each side with all the baby announcements, lots of applicable reading material, and there are festive socks on all of the stirrups. The atmosphere is pretty relaxing, considering where you are. They have a $75 paperwork fee upfront, so that they don't have to process co-pay payments every single visit, which is really nice toward the end when you're there every week. #Yelp365 - 40/365 read more

I'm a big fan of Piedmont OB-GYN. I first visited in 2013 when I was looking for a new OB for regular check-ups (I'd just moved back to ATL) and found Dr. Bennett. She was great, as were the office staff. I will say I've noticed this office is very knowledgeable and efficient. So if you want more warm & fuzzies, hand-holding, I can see how maybe some people may rate it lower. But I like that they run the practice on a very timely schedule, you're in and out, the doctor will answer all of your questions in a very matter a fact way. So come prepared with what you need, questions and it's a great experience. I'd moved away from ATL from 2014-16 and recently came back to the city, looking for a OB-GYN to take us through the process of our first pregnancy. I didn't hesitate to look into Piedmont OB-GYN again and try to get myself into the system. I DID search around for other options b/c I had a hard time getting something scheduled for late Dec but luckily the wonderful staff at Piedmont OB-GYN moved some things around and fit me in, so we started our pregnancy journey with them. My main doctor now is Dr. Lawson and she's awesome as well. Also very nice, very knowledgeable and efficient. As a part of the process, you rotate through the doctors and they were all very nice. Again, every visit (I'm up through 9 in these last 7 months) has been incredibly efficient. I walk in, sign my name, head straight back to pee in a cup, wait in the back waiting rooms, nurse gets me to take my vitals and then set up in an exam room. Even if I'm early, they'll see me early. Sometimes it's a bit of a wait in the exam room but usually no more than 10-15 min and the visit (probably b/c you go so often when pregnant) is 15 min and you're out. Again maybe the pace isn't for everyone but I like it b/c all my questions are always answered, I always walk out feeling great and overall its just a great practice. Also, the in-house phlebotomist is by far the best I've ever seen. SO good at her job! Her speed at getting all the bottles figured out and labeled show she's clearly been doing this forever and her pace at drawing the blood, getting you in and out is amazing. I can't believe how many blood tests are required as a part of my (very normal) pregnancy but she's certainly made it a great experience. Finally, office always clean and has nice ambiance. The staff can sometimes get a little confused b/c they process so many people a day but I've never had a problem getting through to them and my test results are published on a portal + I get calls within 24 hours of them coming back and they do a great job of leaving voicemails / doing follow-ups since I'm always in meetings during workdays. They also use patientco for payments which makes everything SUPER easy. Net net, I'd recommend this practice for any female (especially working female) who appreciates knowledgeable doctors and efficiency. I hate time wasted sitting in doctors offices, being on the phone with them or having to figure out payments / admin stuff, which all aren't issues here so definitely 5 stars and I'm now hoping to find a pediatrician's office that's just as good! read more

I was a patient for 3 years, but after several bad experiences (some ok) I'm leaving. I didn't jump to this decision, but this last incident was a deal-breaker. Agreeing w/ another review, I think they may violate HIPPA laws by giving my # to the sales arm of the lab that does the BRCA1 test. I don't recall giving my OK, but it's possible I signed something in the MOUNTAIN of paperwork they make you sign.Oh, about that- they ask you to sign the Privacy Agreement saying you've read the policies, but roll their eyes when they have to go get a copy. I should have run for the door that day, but I didn't. The sales call for BRCA1 came after Piedmont OBGYN suggested twice that I have the test. By then it felt like a hard-sell, not a suggestion. I have no previous history & only one case in my family. STRIKE 1. Last year I called my dr. with a strain in my breast - NOT a pain - A STRAIN. I thought it was from weening our baby, but as she always said "I'm the Dr.". She did a quick exam (less thoroughly than even I do) & found nothing. As a precaution she sent me to a radiologist for a "Diagnostic". I didn't know what that was & asked. She said "it's exactly the same, but you get the results immediately". Fine. So imagine MY HORROR to be the ONLY one there w/o previous cancer, or abnormal results. I felt terrible & guilty being there. My dr. also failed mention a Diagnostic was non-preventative & would cost $500. STRIKE 2. I called to talk about it, but she would only have her asst. speak on the matter. They kept repeating that I'd complained of a "pain" & had a family history of cancer (see above) Cancer strikes 1 in 8. Isn't cancer in everyone's family?! I gave up trying to negotiate & said I was considering leaving. The asst. responded w an offer to send my records. For a fee. WOW. Really?! Just like that? I can't believe how cavalier they were, with no discussion like rationale people. So between: - the possible lax privacy issues - the sloppy records - the fear mongering - the unnecessary billing - the lack of communication w my dr. - & their disinterest in discussing or resolving my case whatsoever.... My wife made an appointment with Dr Bennett and was told she could not be seen until 10 weeks. At 7 weeks we had some issues arise that required immediate medical attention. We called the practice and were told we could not be seen due to the fact that our initial appointment had not occurred yet. We were told to go to our primary care doctor. I had my first appointment recently with Dr. Bennett, and there are a few reasons why this appointment was excellent (i.e. as pleasant as a trip to the gynecologist can be). 1. Nothing Hurt In the past, my yearly exam has been painful, and I must admit that I felt absolutely no pain. YAY! 2. Very informative She explained everything and anything, and that was great. And she did it in a very relaxed way, which is nice, because no one wants to be freaked out about their nether regions :) 3. They offer the HPV vaccination I guess everyone does, but hey . . .wonderful. 4. Nothing hurt! This is worth mentioning twice! 5. I didn't have to wait long I did not have to wait long to make an appointment ( I got one within two weeks) and I did no have to wait long in the waiting room (less than ten minutes - I filled out paperwork before i arrived). 6. She asked questions For those of us who are not comfortable asking questions, she asked questions as well, which was nice. I would definitely reccommend Dr. Bennett. read more

I was there today as a new patient, and was early for the appointment (about 15-20 minutes) because I wasn't sure how parking would be, etc. I waited in the front office area for an hour before even being taken back by a nurse. I had vitals taken in a shared location, with no door, which I found a little weird, considering that I was being asked questions relating to what kind of lab work I wanted to have done. Another woman was seated directly across from me during the middle of the vitals....so whether or not I wanted to hear what the nurse was telling the other woman, I didn't get a choice. Talk about lack of privacy! My meeting with Dr. ElGammal was terrific (and redeemed my visit)! She patiently answered all my questions, without appearing to be rushed or in any kind of hurry. As for the facility, I asked the front desk about parking, if they validated, and she looked at me like I was crazy. Parking over 30 minutes is an automatic $5. I had to walk over to the main lobby of Piedmont Hospital to find an ATM machine to get cash to pay for parking. Although I loved Dr. ElGammal, I was not impressed with the front desk staff at all. I found them to be short, curt, and somewhat rude. If I wouldn't have had such a great experience with the doctor, I probably wouldn't go back. read more

Seriously, I've never had such good experiences with a medical practice. I'm currently pregnant and Dr. Williams is my doctor. She is awesome.. seriously awesome. She's kind and understanding and informative. She gives you the information you need and patiently answers questions. At the same time she doesn't stress you out or freak you out with what if scenarios. The rest of the doctors in the practice have also been great. They have all been very informative and patient. They all have different personalities but I've yet to have a rude comment or bad experience with them. And, the rest of the staff rocks too. I'm usually greeted by name and have rarely had to wait for my appointment. Their nurses and support staff are personable and professional. I can't say enough good things about them. And, I feel confident that even if I had an issue it would be resolved quickly. Dr. Williams is an awesome doctor and I think that her guidance is a good part of the reason why I've had such a good pregnancy. read more

Dr. Combs is the newest addition to the Piedmont OBGYN doctor group - and what a fabulous addition she is! I absolutely adore Dr. Combs. She spent time speaking with me (while still clothed) before she began the exam. This makes me feel like I'm not in a Vag Factory, as I have felt elsewhere, and as though she actually gave a flip to get to know me. A little foreplay before the real deal goes a long way! In all seriousness though, she is very easy to talk to and made me feel as comfortable as one can be considering the, uh, angle of conversation. In a few years my husband and I will be ready to try for children and this is definitely who I want to delivery our baby. She's just got a warm and inviting personality. Love, love, love her. The front desk staff at Piedmont OBGYN can be a little spastic because it's a busy practice and I've felt a little uncomfortable during a couple of phone conversations - as though I was really inconveniencing them by calling. HOWEVER, Dr. Combs' personal secretary Morgan is sweet, efficient and awesome. Once you are an established patient, you really only have to deal with the front desk for scheduling changes, but all of the pertinent stuff - follow-up questions, insurance questions, etc. - can be done through Morgan, thank Goodness. I was tempted to give 4 stars because of the sometimes snotty front desk staff, but Dr. Combs, the nurses and Morgan were too wonderful to punish. read more

Dr. Lauren Espinosa is exceptional. She really cares about her patients, listens carefully, and takes her time. She delivered my son in 2019 and where most docs would have sent me for a c-section, she had patience and gave me options that fit our particular situation. We had a successful and easy vaginal delivery thanks to her with minimal recovery time. read more

My primary doctor throughout my pregnancy was Carrie Lawson. She was fabulous, and I will absolutely go back to her in the future. I did meet all of the doctors at the practice and they were all wonderful. The office was very warm and inviting, and the support staff was always helpful. It was easy to make appointments, and when I called with questions, someone always got back to me in a timely manner. Dr. Lawson was very informative and attentive, but never made me worry or stress out about my pregnancy. I appreciated her laid back attitude, which kept me sane! Towards the end of my pregnancy, I developed high blood pressure, and Dr. Lawson monitored me and my baby very closely. I ended up delivering a healthy baby girl, and was lucky enough to have Dr. Lawson there for the delivery. I would absolutely recommend her to friends, and will be returning the practice for my next pregnancy! read more

We had our OB care for my wife and delivery recently with the physicians in this group. Being physicians ourselves, we had heard great things. The care of the physicians and the office was truly wonderful and we trust their medical care whole-heartedly. Unfortunately, they deliver at Piedmont Hospital, which in our experience, has some of the worst patient service and care coordination we have ever witnessed. Communication between the floor and other services was very poor and simple testing (which happens relatively quickly at other institutions) took hours and hours, significantly delaying our discharge. While we credit the physicians and the group, due to our experience at Piedmont Hospital, we definitely will be transferring care elsewhere. If you have a choice for OB care, would strongly encourage you to look into groups who deliver at other hospitals that may have better systems in place, such as Northside or Emory Midtown (which we don't have personal experience with, but have heard good things about). read more

Let me start this by saying I didn't even see a doctor today and it was absolutely ridiculous. I had a 10:00 appointment with doctor Chen as a new patient. I was told to arrive at 9:30 to fill out paperwork. When I arrived I spent 7-10 minutes filling out my chart in my car because they have an online check in option. I walked through the door at 9:40 which was considered "late" even though I had a 10:00 appointment and my paperwork was already filled out online...? So the woman at the front desk tells me "they're pretty strict on arrival times" and had to call back and see if the doctor would still see me becuase I wasn't there at 9:30 for my 10:00 appointment. Anyways, I submitted my insurance card online, they took my insurance card in office, AND my type of insurance was discussed when I booked the appointment by phone a couple of weeks ago. NOTHING was said. The copay was a bit higher than I had expected so I started to worry a bit. COME TO FIND OUT every doctor in the office takes my insurance other than doctor Chen? And NOBODY said anything??!! From past experiences with a couple other doctors, if my insurance won't cover they ALWAYS tell me beforehand. Usually over the phone before we even finalize an appointment!!! I sat in a cold waiting room and I wasn't called back until 10:30, by this time I had figured out dr Chen didn't take my insurance by myself and I asked the nurse "so dr Chen doesn't take United but the other doctors in this office do?" And she said "dr Chen is new and she needs more appointments to gain the credentials. We can continue or we can cancel this appointment and get you in with someone who can take your insurance" IM SORRY WHAT? And why did nobody tell me that before I was siting in the waiting room waiting to be seen by her? I mean NOBODY said a single word about dr Chen not being able to take my insurance. My assumption is, they tried to hide it from me and would have later billed me. Absolutely sad. Also the woman at the front desk was rude. I will NEVER return here to see ANY DOCTOR that practices in this office. read more

Currently 40 minutes past my appointment time. I've now watched every other person who came in after me be taken back. I went up to the desk to ask and she said "oh your file is over there I don't know". I asked her to go check on how much longer I would be waiting and she said they are waiting on a room. Still sitting here waiting and another patient was called back. I will NEVER be coming back to a practice that does not respect my time. read more

I wasn't going to yelp my experiences here, but I decided that giving other women a chance to avoid the horrific nightmare I experienced as a patient at Piedmont OB-GYN was worth reliving what I endured at this practice. Among the reasons I will not be returning: -I was literally handed a prescription as I walked out of the exam room, and I was given absolutely no explanation at all of how to take it, what it was, what the side effects were, or what follow up would be needed. The doctor literally pushed it into my hand in the hallway as I was walking out. -A test was scheduled at the wrong time because the doctor did not communicate with the scheduling staff, resulting in me having to repeat an invasive procedure at a cost of over $400 out of pocket beyond my insurance coverage. -No pre-test instructions were provided, from what to do or not do before the procedure, what to wear, what the side effects would be, and what to expect during the procedure. -Test results were given over the phone by a medical assistant who was incredibly rude and condescending and was not able to answer any of my questions. Furthermore, she did not offer to find someone who could answer my questions, leaving me in a panic for days. -The front desk staff did not know how to process my insurance, even though they are an approved provider, and mis-checked me in at my second visit, beginning one procedure before they realized I was actually there for something else entirely. -After all of this, I was given the diagnosis that "everything is normal," except for the fact that the problem I went to Piedmont OB-GYN in the first place for is still there, meaning I went through two tests and several weeks of panic and still have the same concern. They showed no desire to help me find the root of my health concern. Overall, my interactions with the staff and practices of Piedmont OB-GYN left me feeling dehumanized and scared. No doctor should have the opportunity to make a patient feel like this. read more

Let me start by saying that I have a complicated medical history, mostly involving spine surgeries. For that reason, I wanted an experienced person to guide me through trying to conceive and pregnancy. I was referred to Piedmont OB/GYN by a coworker who has similar medical issues. The earliest available appointment I could get as a new patient when calling was in mid-August. Even though it was only May, I was happy to wait for a doctor I had heard such wonderful things about. HOWEVER - I missed called from the office on the 27th of July. So, I called them back on August 6th assuming they were calling to confirm my appointment. After telling the annoyed receptionist that I was calling to confirm my appointment, she said "Yeah we will see you August 14th at 11:15." I asked her if I should fill out paperwork online or come early for the appointment and do it in the office, and she told me to "do whatever I want, but make sure it gets done." On August 7th, one day after confirming my appointment, another brash woman called me and told me that she was cancelling my appointment because my new doctor would not be in the office that day. When I asked her why I had not been informed sooner, considering the fact that the appointment was made in May, she rudely said she had called me on the 27th. I explained to her that I missed the call on the 27th and called to confirm my appointment the day before and that I found it very hard to believe that they just found out the doctor would be out two weeks before the appointment, and she kept repeating that they "tried to contact me on the 27th." I told her I was upset, but would like to reschedule as soon as possible since my yearly exam was due in June and had already been put off for two months. Here is the topper - she told me to hang up and call back the appointment line to reschedule. She refused to make another appointment or transfer me to a person instead of a machine. Not only did they cancel my appointment two weeks before, but she wanted me to call back, wait on hold for 15 minutes (the wait time when I made the first one) and make another appointment... which she informed me would be another several months since they are such a busy office. I am a nurse. I understand that things happen and doctors get busy and need vacations and all that. But seriusly? I little common courtesy and customer service are not too much to ask. If you're going to cancel me last minute, give me another option. I will NOT be going to Piedmont OB/GYN... ever. The doctors may be wonderful, but the nightmare that is their scheduling and office staff is not worth the wait. I had read reviews of others with similar experiences, and really thought "it can't be that bad!" IT IS THAT BAD. read more

I went here for several years for well woman checkups and saw Dr.Kleiss and Dr.Combs who were both great. I assumed since I had a good experience with them for my annual appointments that they would be good Obstetricians-not so in my opinion. I left their practice towards the end of my pregnancy because they do not support or encourage natural childbirth, they did not want to discuss any sort of birth plan with me, and they were actually hostile when my husband and I asked what types of situations they feel constitute the need for a Cesarean birth. I switched to Intown Midwifery, an independent midwifery practice in midtown. Margaret Strickhouser and Anjili Hinman are truly amazing midwifes and their practice is warm, supportive, and they are very passionate about birthing healthy babies with as little intervention as possible. They can also handle all well woman visits. I had a complicated pregnancy and was still able to give birth naturally. read more

Dr. Kleiss is the best! She has been my dr. For 10 years and delivered my daughter 2 years ago and was amazing! This practice has great doctors who care about their patients. Can't wait to meet our new addition in 4 weeks. I drive here from 45 minutes away because of how great I've been treated. read more

I'm 90 minutes in and still waiting for my appointment to begin. What is wrong with me? Everyone who "aplogized" for the lateness is so cavalier about it, that it feels like they're really saying that they are sorry I'm an idiot with nothing to do and no self respect. And so I wait. The doc is nice and so, I endure this once a year. That's why I'm waiting. When the staff was nice, it made sense. When the wait was only 45 minutes, it would have been longer to drive elsewhere. But (now) 95 minutes, rude staff and still waiting. Next year, somewhere else for sure! But come here if you have nothing else to do but wait. read more

This review is just for the office not the doctors: I decided to write a review because the ones I read were super helpful for me to finding this practice. Like others stated, the front office is warm and the front receptionist is very to the point which is expected because the front office is shared by another practice. You have to stay focused so you don't confuse patients. After you make to the back, the staff and nurses are helpful and very personable. The doctors are nice. The office staff and processes are a mess. I just came here because I live nearby and can walk. When first tried to make an appointment, I called many times over the course of a few days and did not get an answer. It took four times. Flash forward. At the office, the woman behind the desk was popping her gum and the other woman whisper yelled to me across the room 'can you give us a urine sample' in a waiting room full of both women and their husbands. I go in, the tech checks my weight, puts the blood pressure monitor on me, turns it on and leaves to go run another test. Finally another woman walks by, sees me just sitting there, and finishes the report. The first time i visited, they told me to check my results online, but they failed to give me instructions and the initial passcode that you absolutely need to log in. When I called for it, you guessed it, no answer. My second visit the next year, I asked for the passcode. it took three people to print me out a piece of paper with the code. A week later I go to log in and the passcode they gave me doesn't work. I look at the fine print at the bottom of the page and see that it says the expiration for the code was a day before my appointment! Really!?!?!? Come on guys. Their major issue is the support staff and processes. It's a shame because I really like my doctor, but I will be looking for a new one. read more

I don't yelp my experiences much, but I've decided to shed some light on how this practice (esp. my doctor, Dr. Kleiss) operates, so other women can make their best call on which obgyn/ obgyn practice to choose for their needs I've been with this practice (Dr.Kleiss) for the first 22 weeks of my pregnancy and I've now transferred to Northside practice, which is infinitely better Here are my key reasons why I've decided to transfer to Northside - 1. The doctor never really tells you on what tests are being performed for the first trimester scan/ test and a mid-trimester test... they feel like they are loosing time when trying to explain what tests are being done during each visit and why. It took me forever to get a decent response, other than 'Ohh everything is fine' and when I requested my doctor to review the test results and explain me what the findings meant, my doctor advised on signing a release, so I can have a copy of my test results and review them at my own leisure (was very shocked to hear this) 2. This being a private practice, they take-on so many patients each day and they just rush through the appointments so hastily 3. I was so in panic with my test results and fetal anatomy scan, but really could not find anyone to help answer my questions...the doctor advised on booking her next available appointment, so she can answer the questions I had.. her next available appointment was in 2 weeks and I had to spent sleepless nights being worried and anxious 4. I decided to take my chance and do a 'walk-in' and let my doctor's assistant know that I can wait there for the whole day and all I needed was around 10mins with the doctor to help ease my anxiety on the test/ scan findings... I literally had tears in my eyes as I sat there anxious... after 2.5 hrs of waiting, I was told that the doctor will not be able to see me that day and that I can to discuss the results with her during my next appointment only 5. My doctor did not take time to help address my concerns and I spent 2 anxious weeks for a sit-down with her 6. After I got the 'Ohh everything's fine' routine during my next visit, I decided to transfer to Northside... Overall, a highly unprofessional practice (at least my doctor made me feel that way) read more
