After a long time I am back in Cali and had craving for pieology Pizza. Last time it was in Victorville CA. This time with Yelp I found this location in Walnut. Amazing co ordination of Ashley/Sam/Jasmine my selection of sauces and veggies were spread out on pie in colorful mosaic. See my photo attached. This was our go-to Pieology place and have never had problems before. I noticed there were a significant amount of negative reviews recently, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. My sister and I came around 5PM on Sunday and ordered 4 pizzas and 1 dessert pizza. The first two girls who helped us were really sweet and patient. Many of the reviews mentioned bad customer service, so I didn't understand where the negative reviews were coming from. I did see reviews stating that they were out of certain toppings and it was unfortunate that they were out of some of the ones we wanted, especially since my brother only got 3/5 toppings he wanted. We got to the front and paid, specifically asking for my pizza to have the pesto after bake and the icing for the dessert pizza to be on the side. Often times there is too much icing added, so we like to add our own amount. We were told to wait for our order behind the tables. My sister and I are big on social distancing, so we kept our distance from other customers. All of a sudden, we were yelled at by the girl at the oven to wait outside. Normally, I am very patient and understanding when I eat out because I know what it's like to work in customer service. I started to understand why there were such negative comments. Side note: they had dubbed Kamisama Hajimemashita playing on the TV. Who even watches anime dubbed? LOL Even when we left, it didn't stop there. My brother's pizza had a couple of burnt pieces of something on his pizza! The rest of the pizza is perfectly cooked, except for that one slice. Where did that come from?! There's no way that those toppings were burnt from being cooked on his pizza. His slices were TOTALLY uneven. The cuts didn't meet in the middle and there was one slice that smaller than the size of my palm. It was so incredibly inconsistent. My sister also had a HUGE piece of bell pepper on her pizza. I am not exaggerating when I say that it was 1/3 of a bell pepper. On top of that, we didn't get any icing for our dessert pizza. Honestly, that was the last straw. We have been faithful customers for years, but I don't think we'll be back again. read more

Okay what was going on in here this visit I have no clue. It was hot as Hades in there and I waited a very long time to order my pizza. Usually you're in and out pretty quickly in these establishments. The floor and tables were not clean. The music playing was loud and horrendous. All the toppings looked picked over and contaminated by the one next to it... Mushrooms in the green peppers, extremely unappealing visually. I ordered my usual: gluten-free crust (not because I'm gluten - free, I just like it. I can eat the entire pie and not feel bloated like the Goodyear Blimp). On to the toppings and here they were very, very, very cheap. Like 3 slices of pepper cheap. I spoke up and they added more, but seriously guys. C'mon. I'm honestly not sure I'll return. I've been here a few times, it's convenient because I work nearby, but if they don't get their act together and soon, they can't possibly last. And it was not busy. Managers, you need to train the crew to clean, clean, clean, and refill sad- looking toppings regularly. Ordered online and picked up at this location recently. I thought everything went smoothly! I came around 6pm on a weekday, and there were already some people in line when I arrived. My one issue was that there were no clear instructions on how to pick up an online order. There wasn't any signs or a pick up location at the counter, and so I (stupidly) stood in line because I didn't want to seem like I was cutting. There wasn't any staff at the cash register for me to ask either, as everyone on the floor was helping people doing in person orders. Not really Pieology's fault, but the people ordering ahead of me placed extensive orders with lots of instructions, so my turn took a lot longer than expected. Finally when I got to the front, the worker informed me that I could just head up to the (now manned) cash register and ask for my online order. They keep all the online orders above the oven, and so it's hard to even tell if your order is ready. Once I knew what to do, I was out of there in seconds! Met up with a friend to eat our pizzas in a nearby park. Pizzas were yummy! We got a dessert pizza as well, which wasn't my cup of tea. I had no issues picking up an online order during covid, just know that you can walk straight up to the cash register! (And no need to feel like you're cutting the line.) read more

I have been to many Pieology's and Blaze pizza's all over La And SB counties. This is the worst. All I want is a cheese pizza, with ricotta and basil. No meat no veggies... everyone charges for one topping (a couple pieces of basil) they charge a full charge like I'm getting meat and veggies. The pizza was the most tasteless pizza with a horrible aftertaste. The cheese and sauce are gross. The girls all have a horrible attitude and are doing you a huge favor to put a couple Pieces of basil or sausage for the other pizza. They're upset and angry. Can we talk about how rude the workers are. Little miss Rita first got mad when someone left the door open she walks to the door to close it shaking her head. Like okay maybe you guys should put a sign to keep door close. Then we order we feel rushed for no reason (it wasn't busy). Rita bring our pizza I ask her about bbq sauce and she slaps her thighs with her hands like if I was asking for to much. I made sure to ask her about her name to make sure it matched the name on my receipt. She pretty much dropped the tray on our table to give us our pizza. I order online fairly often and generally have good service and pizza. Occasionally they forget some toppings but not a big deal. Though today I feel like I learned the lesson to just not come here during lunch hour because it takes forever and there are pizza thieves out there. Aside from waiting around during and past my allotted pickup time, I stepped outside for a moment in which someone must have taken my pizza off of the pickup rack (not the staff's fault but frustrating) so there went 40 minutes of life. The staff was cordial though and offered me a refund or a new pizza. I wish I took the refund but I figured I'd waited around long enough that I might as well wait longer so they remade it for me which took another 20 minutes. Maybe it was the busy store but came out the smallest 7-inch lopsided, slightly undercooked pizza when it was supposed to be 11-inches, I cooked it more in my oven at home for a few extra minutes. So bad pizza and decent staff evens out but this has to be one of the worst pizza experiences I've had. read more

Pieology was pretty good! I haven't been to a DIY pizza place in a while, and when I do, it's usually Blaze. This last visit reminded me why I should visit Pieology sometime too. We came by on a weekday for dinner and the place was surprisingly packed! My Mom and I decided to share a Custom Pizza and basically added all the toppings, from chicken to veggies to dried cranberries lol. You might think dried cranberries would mess up the flavor, but they actually added complexity to the flavor which I appreciated! Our pizza was under $9 and we managed to have a slice leftover. I was a little frustrated by the wait time for our pizzas to be ready, but I'm glad the pizza was delicious. Most of the toppings were pretty fresh, and the crust wasn't burnt. Solid visit! This place closes over an hour early all the time. They don't keep up with their business hours. This is the 4th or 5th time i've came and they were closed within business hours. They closed two hours early today. Mind you I always come at least a little over an hour before closing. If you're short staffed, why is it taking months to get new hires? Its like making your own style pizza.....but in salad.... YUMMMMMY. I started with their pre~mix...they have two options...one with parmigiana cheese....and another one with mozzarella .... then move on down....the pizza road..... .. I added artichokes, roasted peppers, spinach...lots of spinach .....onions, tomatoes, spicy chicken....regular chicken ...olives....and on and on and on...... they have a variety of salad dressings.... i opted for plain balsamic vinegar....since some of the veggies were already marinated. Got the wrong pizza. I went home and opened my box, then realized it the wrong pizza. I ordered a thick crust, and got a thin crust. Is it really that hard to tell in between the two? Speaking of actual trained employees here working at this store. Had to drive back here from home and wait another 20min for another pizza. I have already waited like 40min when I first got my wrong pizza. I feel like it's good and great to have some casual and fun chat during the work hours. But if you can't even give me the right pizza ordered in store, at the counter, there is something wrong with the work attitude. People should be more professional on putting those pizza in the correct boxes with the customer names. Or even double check it with the customers before you box it. Customers will not check them because we don't want to make it look like we don't trust you. And there goes my trust destroyed. read more

Its been good overall and clean. I'm also thankful it's open later versus other places. TIPS: If you go to Mt. SAC or CPP you get 10% off your order!! Last night I went to "Pieology" for pizzas for my son and myself... Although we live close by, we don't usually go to this location because we've had problems with their service, but it was already after 8pm and I didn't want to drive out to Chino where we typically go... While ordering the two (2) pizzas, the guy behind the counter making our pizzas kept hurrying my choices even though the restaurant wasn't busy and he sparingly used the toppings I asked for as if this was his restaurant and he was watching his food costs... he also didn't take time to spread out the toppings to make a more "eye appealing" pizza!!! But that wasn't the biggest problem I had last night... while waiting for our pizzas to finish cooking in the oven, the manager comes out and she takes the pizza "peel" and starts checking the "doneness" of the pizzas... She's the only employee not wearing a mask and all of a sudden she grabs her shirt, covers her face and sneezes into her shirt!!! Now, I went to culinary school and I'm expecting her to immediately go to the bathroom and wash her hands and clean her shirt or replace her shirt but instead, she keeps checking the pizzas!!! At this point I watched intently to ensure she wasn't boxing or cutting the pizzas!!! She then grabs her phone and scrolls through social media and then goes over to another employee and starts socializing with her too!!! Luckily for her and the restaurant, she didn't box or cut our pizzas!!! I can't believe the extremely poor hygiene practices she exhibited!!! Not only did she not wash her hands or her shirt, but she contaminated the pizza "peel" so any employee who touched it after her was now infected with her sneeze!!! Allowing poor hygiene like this will only get employees and customers sick and this will be the last time I visit this "Pieology" location!!! Pieology is my treat to myself but sadly I won't be back at this location. Awful. Service from start to finish. From the moment you walk in it's an awkward energy almost like the employees are all muted. I was next to order my pizza and no welcome, no hello .. just ask what can I get you in an unwelcome manner . Okay that's one employee then the next the guy had the same energy as well as the cashier. The don't have the word "thank you" in their vocabulary. Everyone who works there acted like they would rather be somewhere else instead. It shows in both the service and the attitude .
