My gf and I were looking for a pizza spot that served by the slice and we found Mr. G's. I live up the street and also seen this place when I went to Bagelooo and finally paid a visit. We ordered 2 slices of pepperoni & jalapeño pizza and two beers. We met the owner Mr. G, and he was so pleasant and appreciative of us coming into his pizzeria. The customer service was wonderful and he offered us an appetizer, I chose buffalo wings and they were great. Mr. G's pizza was good but expensive. We were looking for a mid-level pizza place for a couple of friends. We saw the high reviews and placed an order. We ordered 2 XL pizzas and it came out to $80 bucks after taxes for a 3 topping and Hawaiian pizza. The pizza was fresh, toppings were plenty and overall the pizza wasn't overcooked or soggy. This place blows pizza hut/dominos out of the water and is slightly better than Papa Johns. I always prefer to support mom and pop shops over franchise/corporate places. The pizzeria is setup for large parties, but when I was there, it was a ghost town. It's sad to see that there was no one there during a world cup night. This place deserves business, but at these prices, it's hard for people to buy out. read more

This family pizza shop has been in Diamond for over 20 years! And we have been visiting for literally since they opened back in the day! It's in a small strip mall directly across from the always popular Bageloo. They do offer online ordering now which has a alway free garlic roll offer on the Mr Chow app/site. The shop itself is like a snapshot in time since the decor and layout looks exactly like it did 20 years ago with some arcades, TVs and tables around. It is a good place to come hangout for a sporting event since they do serve beer on tap for dine in only. For special events definitely call in to confirm they are playing the game though, like the world cup recently! For the locals they do have a on-going weekly special menu too and a senior discount day. For those looking for lunch they also have lunch combo deals, but check since the items change online or in store. Our usual go-to item here is the large Mr G's Speciality or supreme pizza which is 8 slices so perfect for family or a small gathering. The pizza is not super greasy or salty and they do not skimp on the toppings with a perfectly based crust. Glad I did. This is exactly the kind of friendly, down-to-earth local spot you want in the neighborhood. I mentioned it was my first time, and they genuinely welcomed me. When my food was brought to the table, they even called me by my first name. Where else do you still find that kind of warmth? The portions are huge, too. A slice of Hawaiian pizza, meatball spaghetti, and iced tea, including tip, came out to only about $20. Our kids school (kiddie academy) was having lunch for the kids and we originally thought we would order from dominos because they opened at 10:30am but that was an hour wait for takeout/delivery. Oh man. I hate to write this but I have to be honest. I have had Mr. G's pizza before, tried a pepperoni and the famed Korean beef pie, a couple years ago. I remember it being very succulent, cheesy, flavorful with a really good meat-to-cheese ratio. I could swear it came with kimchi on the side, maybe I am imagining that! I suggested Mr. G's to my boss (who was kindly treating our office to lunch) because I recalled it was unique and well executed. Now I feel guilty for suggesting it, because this pie was just not great. In fact, it was terrible. Extremely skimpy toppings- most especially the cheese - there was almost NO cheese, meat was sparse, and raw onion was the prevailing flavor- plus salt. Very, very salty dry meat. I can't overemphasize how dry this pie was. Not pleasant to eat. Without generous melty mozzerella cheese, it lacked moisture and that succulent texture and therefore balance in the pizza was off. The crust almost tasted stale like day-old pizza... it was so dry. So to sum up, it was super dry, topped with practically raw red onion, super salty meat... no bueno. The pizza had a great flop on it, the right amount of cheese and an even split of toppings. The wings had pretty good marinade and it was crispy. I ordered mine for pickup, but dine in is also a great option. There's plenty of seating. A local pizza store named Mr. G's in Diamond Bar and the same plaza as the local bagel store and El Pollo Loco. I have been here a few times by doing a phone order and calling it in. They will tell you how long it will take and you can just come inside and pick it up. I love their tasty lasagna it also has a lot of sauce and layers and layers of goodness. They have meat or a vegetarian lasagna so you can pick. Their chicken wings with buffalo sauce are also good! It goes by increments of 4 so I decided to get 8 pieces for tonight's order. Level up on the "at home refresh" of a take-out pie: Instead of just a hot oven, I now put the pizza on a large sheet pan on the highest-heat big burner on the stove until it's as crunchy / leopardy as you like it. Followed by ~2min under a high broiler as close as the rack can get in the oven. This makes for a Dave Portnoy no-flop solid crispy slice. Then dress it optionally: Fresh cracked pepper? Yes please. I'm not a pizza person but we decided to try this place for the first time today to appease our craving kid, and I'm glad we did because I was saying "mmmhhh" the whole time. Pizza was made to order, it was thin crust but the crust, sauce, and toppings ratio were perfect. We're very picky about our pizza and I'm glad we no longer have to drive to FV or La Verne just for great pizza.
