Ordered a Shrimp and a Fish PoBoy. Fried fish was boney at one end. Luckily that was the last couple of bites and that being a major turn off, as far as food goes, didn't cost my son much in the way of getting his fill. Received an oyster poboy instead of shrimp. No biggie, right?...... WRONG!!! The server let me know that it was my mistake because "I ordered oyster", but not to worry she would get it taken care of. I told her I would eat it because we were in a hurry. Again, she looked to be noticeably frustrated letting me she already took care of it. I ate the oyster poboy and hope that it wasn't tainted by the bad taste I had in my mouth from the server. The opinion I had tonight was that the oysters were OK, at best and were over cooked. Again, I had a fairly foul attitude by this point and this causes food to become sub-par. At the end of it the server removed the sandwich from my plate and told me "she" paid for it. I did NOT ask for my meal to be comp'd and resented it. Had the meal been bad enough to be comp'd I would NOT have eaten it. I did tip the amount I thought the sandwich would have cost me and left. I am seriously doubtful that I will ever be back or recommend this place, and that is sad. Had I received better service I probably would have had a better experience and this could be a place I would make more of an effort to frequent. Here on the Rockwall Square a little oasis of tasty seafood delights! Came for lunch after church and got extremely fast service from Morgan. Our tea glasses were always full and the calamari appetizer came out hot and crunchy. Kudos to the chef for well crafted migas, shrimp enchiladas, and the shrimp and grits. We followed with a creative dessert; sautéed native peaches topless some really fresh cream and crunchy pecans. The cayenne and mint leaf made for artisan touches! Thanks for a good meal! read more

The wait was an hour and a half at Zanata so walked over to Pier 101 to give it a try...well worth the walk and a much shorter wait even though it was crowded as well. My wife and I drove by and decided to stop by and tried it out. The New England Seafood Chowder is out of this world. Coming from Florida is hard to find good New England Seafood Chowder. Great service! I mean really good! The friendly and beautiful female server (Victoria) had the best most sincere smile. Our male server CJ was excellent and very intelligent.....and fun. Total Professionals! The servers act as if they have a stake in the success of the business! These are highly trained servers like you'd see at an upscale NY / Vegas restaurant! You definitely want Victoria or CJ. Victoria's smile is a million dollar smile! Wow! The food was awesome! 5/5! We got the beer battered calamari, which was excellent! It was light yet flavorful batter with a spicy mayonnaise. A marinara sauce was included as well. Also, we got the New England Seafood Chowder which was awesome! They play GREAT 80's music too! I love 80s music! I believe this is my first 5/5 rating ever? As of 12/16/16 they have been open about 6 weeks. Also, the place was fairly busy for a Friday at noon. Parking can be a problem depending of peak hours. We got the last spot! I would highly recommend this restaurant/ bar! I will be a frequent customer! I love this place! We came here yesterday for the first time and the food and service were really good! I can't remember ever having good seafood in Rockwall prior to this place opening. We started with the jalapeño hushpuppies and the crab claws. Both were awesome, I judge a place harshly by their ranch and theirs was fantastic! I ordered the salmon with lemon butter sauce and quinoa, husband tried the fish tacos, my son tried the kids basket of coconut chicken, Grandmama tried the fried shrimp and fries and Papa the gumbo. All were really good and the fries super seasoned like I like. Dessert options didn't temp us... I'm a dessert person but key lime pie and cheesecake are not really what I go for. They need another option in there with some chocolate or a good bread pudding. We will definitely be back, glad they came to town! read more

We've been passing this restaurant for several weeks and were finally here at lunchtime. Excellent food! Great service--our server recommended their etoufeé, which the chef only makes occasionally. It was different, the flavors were a little unexpected, but it was very good! Not spicy, but very flavorful. I had the fried shrimp. So Pier 101 has been in Rockwall since October. I had some off the menu items. I started with the jalapeño hush puppies that came with a jalapeño ranch. The bite started out like an average hush puppy, but then you got the bite of the spice. I ordered the special of the night: blackened flounder (which I had never had), topped with a Cajun cream sauce over dirty rice and asparagus spears. It had a very good taste, indeed. I ate every bite, even the garnish! It's a small space, but they do have additional patio seating with a big screen that is covered and has heaters for the winter. The bar seats about 8. The bar has beer, wine and well drinks available. Pier 101 is definitely worth the drive to Rockwall, folks. read more

Finally, a great seafood restaurant opened in Rockwall! They did a great job with the decor on the inside and there's large patio with handcrafted picnic tables which is where we ate tonight. We had the boiled seafood sampler with Cajun seasoning along with shrimp Po boys and fresh oysters. Oh, I almost forgot the amazing gumbo! Our server was very friendly and everything came out in a timely manner. I love that they have a full bar and pour a nice drink. We wtapped things up with the key lime pie which was also impressive! Much better than average I want to say because I still have hope in the future they will have the dishes I was going to order...flounder stuffed with spinach and crawfish, salmon with oscar sauce...and of course boiled crawfish but they aren't in season. Anyway...I ordered the cup of gumbo (my reason for 4 not 3 stars) which was awesome..just needed a tad more rice so the ratio would be right. I know-- I'm New Orleans born and raised. Catfish poboy...not an authentic poboy, may be French bread but not the same. More importantly the catfish was not great not awful just Absolutely no flavor-was cooked perfectly though! Tasted bread, tomato, lettuce and a little of the remoulade sauce. It's a flour and cornmeal batter and the catfish was not a thick filet one at that. The breeding actually peeled off when I went to check the sauce. Maybe it's better if it's just fried catfish without being on bread. But still needs salt...Something! Hubby got Seafood Sampler with the Cajun boil seasoning and the garlic butter seasoning after the boil. Amazed how Bland it was as with all the butter and garlic floating at the bottom. Sausage in it was super spicy. Crab was good. Shrimp I think could have used a tad less time but was good enough. Corn and potatoes were great. Our appetizers were crab fingers, jalapeño hushpuppies and I got the cup of gumbo. Crab fingers were really good. The ones on top were better because they weren't drowning in the huge amount of butter at bottom of bowl. Nice kick from the garlic. Hushpuppies were good. Not much jalapeño taste but just a hint. Hard not to like hushpuppies anywhere. Key Lime Pie was good. I've never had it so have nothing to compare it to. But I did really like it. My favorite thing was the gumbo...it tasted just like New Orleans. Maybe a tad thicker would be nice but to each his own when it comes to that stuff. We WILL be back. Dying to get some boiled crawfish...when the season hits. Also want to try the blackened salmon and the "specials" I mentioned before. The waitress was awesome. Very nice and attentive! Hope we get her again. Sorry forgot her name. Bonus..local (deep elum) beer was good and the Capt. and diet Coke was great! They made it tall and light as requested. I've been once before and didn't have any issues, the food was good, the drinks were good, and the staff was great, but that wasn't the case today. I came in with my mother in law and were seated quickly but a server never came by. We had enough time to use the restroom and plan out our meal and chat for a bit but after 15 minutes we left to find something else. The staff knew we were there, we made eye contact several times and tried waving but the 6 staff members sat at the bar playing some quarter game. And no, the restaurant wasn't busy. Great restaurant with casual seafood done with a Cajun twist. You can have a "boil" of your choice with one of the day's options, which change, so look to the chalkboard for what's available. This is some seriously good seafood, Cajun style. One of our regular dishes is the huge Shrimp Cocktail. We split it! It's very spicy so watch out for that!
