While there is a food hall here which is a mini version of Chelsea market, we didn't get an opportunity to try out any of the food. What we really came here for was the pumpkin arch and the view of the bridge. This is the perfect spot for a panoramic view and we couldn't miss our opportunity to catch one. This was one of the top 10 (free) things to do if you're visiting NYC for the first time. There was not a line to take a picture under the arch and everyone there was friendly and took pictures for each other. If you have more time, we definitely recommend taking your picture, walking around the pier, and grabbing a bite to eat.

Described as the place "where New York begins,", Pier 17 aka Seaport is the port's signature venue. It is a 300,000-square-foot, 5-story building with impressive restaurants, cafes, bars, retail stores, and event spaces. The South Street Seaport is a historic neighborhood in the southeast corner of the Financial District, bordered by the East River and Two Bridges this place turned itself into mecca, which has the best-of-the-best in dining and live performance. It has great views of Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building, and the Statue of Liberty, the rooftop at Pier 17 is a vibrant 3,500-capacity, open-air venue for concerts, film screenings, cultural events, and festive parties. it also has a The Rooftop at Pier 17 is a concert venue with a unique backdrop: the New York City skyline. or you can just walk around, enjoy the sunset in peace and come back. up to you :)

Love this photo op every fall i try to come. Today i came around 130pm, so there was a short line. However, i believe there should be someone assigned during certain hours to make sure no one is just standing in the back or sitting on the bench meant to take pics when there's plenty of seating in the area. I had to ask a family for the bench and ask them to not stand behind the photo op so i can get a good pic. Otherwise, very well built and beautiful

Came here to see Jesse McCartney in concert at The Rooftop at Pier 17. Being in South Street Seaport is absolutely beautiful, there are plenty of shops and restaurants to eat at before the show. The stage has the Brooklyn Bridge in the background so at night it looks beautiful. This is a standing room venue so be prepared to stand for the duration of the show. My only complaint is that some of the staff were guiding people to the wrong area and when it came time for my meet & greet after the show, I wound up almost out of the venue completely and almost had trouble getting back in. One other thing was that since I had a meet & greet VIP package, I had early entry into the venue. But we weren't brought through the metal detector nor were any of our bags checked.

I recently went to a concert venue and wow! Going through security was fast and easy. I made my way up to the rooftop and was greeted with a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge behind the stage. I didn't get any, but food (and drink, of course,) is available for purchase.

What a great venue space! I wish there was more seating but for the concert honestly the best space. You can't get a "bad spot". The lines for drinks though, not great at all. Definitely get your drinks early on and before hand. It took 38 minutes to get one drink.

Thinking about seeing a show at Pier 17? Yes, drinks are extortionately priced. Yes, the crowd can be full of selfie-taking influencers (and the Seaport itself can be overrun with tourists). Yes, the staff is a crapshoot between on point (a pleasant surprise when it happens), and not caring at all. But you truly can't be sad about seeing a band you like rock out on a Manhattan rooftop with great sound quality, a breeze blowing, expansive views of the Hudson River, and the Brooklyn Bridge right behind the stage. The band couldn't even believe how nice the venue is. Check out the lineup for summer, and do yourself a favor and get over there. I've also been back since just to wander around the pier down below (eateries and drinkeries and more), and it's equally wonderful on a gorgeous summer day. Basically, this pier is how the majority of waterfront in NYC should look. (Shakes fist at Robert Moses.)

I recently attended another excellent Summer concert at The Rooftop at Pier 17, but, this time, I was upgraded to the Liberty Club level. The ticket add-on granted us entry to the roof via a private elevator. But, the perks did not stop there. We also received access to a stunning indoor bar and lounge, as well as a sprawling outdoor patio with tons of seating. Inside there were small buffets of complementary food items, including baba ghanoush, hummus, guacamole, pita points, tortilla chips, Caesar salad, heirloom tomato and cucumber salad, chicken shawarma sandwiches, pigs in a blanket, and chicken salad sandwiches on thick, crusty bread. We filled our plates and sat out on the patio to enjoy our meal. All of the food items were excellent and worth the upgrade on their own. While we could not see the stage from the patio, we could still hear the music and view the action on large television screens. We did, however, venture out to the stage during the main act. Lastly, we had received special wristbands that also included beverages, so we indulged in some terrific Patron margaritas. These add-ons completely spoiled me, and I would highly consider the upgrade for subsequent shows.

"Anti-finance bro discrimination is the only acceptable hatred for the politically correct. The word douchebag is worse than any other slur" - some tweet, possibly. It's an imperfect science to balance the rating of the venue itself (lovely) but with the crowd (often terrible). Pier 17 itself isn't to blame for the depravity of the scumbags who don't have the attention span for an 80-minute Stray Cats concert. As opposed to free-range outdoor venues like PNC's lawn, there's not huge square footage. The choice is heading for "the pit", where the serious fans are more likely to be found and if they still don't STFU, the concert audio will drown out at least some of their chatter. But if you don't want full-body contact, the less crowded sections in the back will be full of people who want to say they went to concert but don't actually care about music. It's bad enough that conversation during acoustic music is commonplace, worse that the violators will yell to be heard over amplified concerts. Security, entry and egress are reasonable. Bathrooms are way better than Forest Hills, maybe not up to Live Nation quality. Sound quality was impeccable for the rockabilly stylings of the Cats.

What an amazing venue! It had to be the best venue I've ever been to! So happy the weather was good to us. Will definitely be back!

A wonderful pier for tourists. Got the deck across beautiful view of Brooklyn bridge, the TIN building, lots of restaurants, roof top, old ships, lots of things to see. Sometimes there are concerts and live music. On the street side there's a seaport museum and some more attractions. I like to visit this pier at least once a summer.

Good weather to visit pier 17 today. Come early in the morning. Otherwise it gets really hot. Nice view for the bridge and river. Most restaurants open at 11.

Wow, what a great night seeing two terrific bands here. Excellent venue! Good acoustics and lighting. Plenty of space. Huge clean bathrooms. Plenty of drink vendors. (Expensive tho) Efficient friendly staff. No hassles getting in or out. Many parking garages nearby and a fair amount of street parking after 7:00. Right next to Fulton St. subway stop and close to City Hall. Shows start on listed time and have to end at 10:00 for curfew. Love this.

Hello is the umbrella thing really an issue? I'm planning on coming at 1PM and would prefer the umbrella be open due to the sun. If it's not going to be open, please let me know. I do not want to be in the heat.

I was told if the wind is over 12 mph no umbrellas can be opened. We were sweating to death.

Is the private Roof Top lounge (one where you purchase a separate ticket for entry) the same as R17 ? I'm looking at the R17 wine menu and wanted to get an idea of offerings at the lounge. Thanks!

Hi Janine, this is not the same as R17, as R17 is closed on concert nights. Some of the Bridge Lounge drink offerings can be found here: https://www.pier17ny.com/content/dam/hhcweb/download/pier-17/0001.jpg. Thanks!

Hi Jill! All general admission shows are standing only, however, we do offer accessibility seating for those who require it. For our seated shows, guests have a reserved seat which will be noted on their ticket.

It actually lives up to its reputation as one of the best-sounding rooms in the city. The venue is such a vibe. You walk into the ground-floor lounge, which is a great spot to grab a drink and decompress before the show, and then you head up the stairs into the main ballroom. The acoustics were flawless for Rochelle's set; her vocals were crisp, and you could feel the bass through the floor without it being muddy. Even though it's an intimate space, the high ceilings and the mezzanine give it a grander feel than your typical club. Pro Tip: If you want a bit more breathing room but still want a perfect view, the mezzanine is the place to be. But honestly, there isn't a bad "seat" (standing room only) in the house. We went during the day so no cover charge, but think they do at later hours. We got some spots at the bar, knowing we would not be able to stay long. From any seat you are able to enjoy the whole atmosphere and set. They had one server and one bartender, and I honestly thought at first they would be scrambling with all the drink orders but the way they worked, quickly and still being personable with each guest was impressive. The band playing was great, we stayed a bit more than we should have because of how good they were. Very intimate, chill way to spend time enjoying live music. The only reason I took one star off is the restroom situation. I went down hoping I could use the facilities but the mold smell and other strong smell made me sick and I had to run out. Just make sure you go before you are inside or hold it. Apart from that, very intimate, chill way to spend time enjoying live music.

Thank you, Valerie Simpson, and your late husband; Nickolas Ashford, for creating this amazing venue. The guest host for the evening was the incredibly talented Olutayo. Olutayo is joy exemplified. His vocal range, dance moves, entertaining facial expressions...infectious. I fell in love with this man and did not hesitate to tell him so. Beyond his talents was Olu's ability to manage / juggle the night's open-mic entertainers with such grace. From the lyrics of En Vogue and Salt-N-Peppa: "Whatta Man, Whatta Man, What a Mighty Good Man!" All of the entertainers were incredible. What a range of singers, dancers, a poet, a violinist. And the band! The band! The band! Come on!! Outstanding. I was seated next to Darius, one of the several background vocalists that were positioned throughout the lounge. We became fast friends in this space filled with exuberance. Darius was a delight. He was also a big brother to me, making sure no one blocked my view of the performance. Thank you, Darius, that was so kind of you. I had such a wonderful time being in the company of all these amazingly talented people. It was a 6-hour dopamine rush that should not be missed. The day before our dinner, I got an email, text, and telephone call to confirm our reservation. I asked if our seats were assigned to a specific table. I was told the assignments would be available the next morning. We arrived about 45 minutes before our reservation time. We were told that we could NOT go to the bar without paying the $20.00 per person door fee for the show. That night was open mic night. I was so eager to support this business because of its owners. We were also told we could NOT be seated early. We paid the money and waited. The tables in the bar area were reserved. When our reservation time arrived, in lieu of being seated where we could see the show we paid for, we were taken upstairs. I asked where the upstairs stage was located. There was NO stage. Instead, there was a 20 inch television hanging on the adjacent wall. We waited 45 minutes to watch a television upstairs away from the open mic show. I have included a picture from our vantage point. When I asked why we had not been seated in the open seats on the floor with the stage, I was told that some of the performers brought friends and our table was given to those individuals. Our money would not be refunded. I asked repeatedly why we were being moved and the hostess indicated that she did not make any decisions and the seats were going to be given to others. Those folks had not arrived and had not made any reservation. Thus, making a reservation was a waste of time. Then there was the food. I figured no one could mess up hot wings. I was wrong. The lemon pepper wings had no lemon and no pepper. It was just dropped into some butter. I had "buttered" wings. No seasoning except butter. Every member of our group remarked that the food was NOT good. I left 3/4 of the food on the plate. I was SORELY disappointed. Even sports bar have food don't string their customers along, make them wait 45 minutes, and then stash them away in heaven (i.e. upstairs). I could have watched better entertainment on Youtube. I will not be returning and I am telling everyone that I had bragged to about my upcoming birthday outing at the Sugar Bar that they should NEVER visit this place. No one cared that we were utterly disappointed with the trickery regarding the seating.
