I ordered the Yakisoba roll (HIGHLY recommend for first-timers). It was incredibly filling and had my favorite, shrimp tempura, perfectly cooked with the best crunch. Every bite was balanced and satisfying. Next, I tried the Dam Good Roll, and the name does not lie. It's damn good. The slight kick from the sriracha and fresh jalapeño was the perfect level of spice, not overpowering, just enough to elevate the flavor. And the fact that the entire roll is fried? Absolutely delicious. Lastly, I had the Rangoon Roll, which might be my favorite. It had the perfect sweet and savory balance, and the cream cheese inside made it smooth, rich, and so easy to devour. This was a surprise to us. We did not expect to find this place on this small community known for its lake, dam, and river. We live in Bastrop County with 5 times the population and we don't have a Japanese restaurant that's this good. But I wish we did! They don't have a liquor license but it's BYOB so we picked up something along the way and enjoyed it with our meal. We had the Yellow Dragon (thin slices of yellowtail sashimi) and it was fantastic! Wow! I mean WOW!!!! For a location that does not look fancy it has the best sushi around the New Braunfels area. We tried 3 different rolls and they were all FANTASTIC! It is a walk up and order counter, but order taker/cashier was so helpful, polite and joyful that it made this experience very pleasant. We will return to try more rolls and dishes. I was proven wrong because this has been some of the better sushi that I have had in TX. I was a bit concerned when I asked the lady what were some rolls she recommended, and she suggested the Philly Roll... Considering I'm more of a Sashimi person and not very fond of the craft sushi rolls, I thought this might have been a bad choice to come here, but a couple rolls stood out to myself and my husband so we ordered those. I don't quite remember them considering we were here last July... but all I remember is we walked out content and still talking about this sushi til this day! First time trying Pier Sushi. We were staying at a place near by and stopped here for lunch. We ordered a couple sushi rolls and fried rice. The people here are super friendly and you can pick any of the rolls and ask for the chef to do a custom roll for you. I ordered the Rescue Roll and did some customization. The roll was good. If you ever stop here I highly recommend the chicken fried rice! It's so unique and so deliciously Smokey flavor. It's nothing I had before and I've had a lot of fried rice in my life lol. This one is a must try. What ever sauce they use to fry this fried rice is so good and I honestly couldn't pin point what. It doesn't taste like soy sauce but rather something else. It's counter service, but they actually serve you at the table. You just have to order at the counter. The prices are freaking great. The place itself is really cool. It's right by Whitewater amphitheater it's got the old school counter service Café style set up. I've eaten there about five times now and the food has always been excellent. read more

I don't eat much of anything spicy and they were more than happy to suggest options for sauces.. the Honey Wasabi, Pier Sauce, and Eel Sauce were my favorites! I had the Island Roll with crab instead of teriyaki chicken, subbed seaweed for soy paper, and added cucumber. I never knew what I was missing out on! Pineapple DOES go on pizza...and sushi! Placed an order to go and as you can see it doesn't look that appetizing. Just rice and meat, did have some corn, green onion and I'm guessing black sesame seeds. Meat looks unseasoned and also had a weird smell to it. Drowned it with the soy sauce they gave me as there isn't many food options around here. I would have never thought we'd find great sushi out near Canyon Lake but we did! It is better than any sushi we have been able to find in San Antonio! We were at Camp Fimfo down the street when a friend recommended we try it. Thank you Valerie! There is a large parking lot shared by a few businesses but there are spots reserved for Pier Sushi patrons. If you are pulling a boat or an RV, the parking lot is big enough to find parking in. So, that's nice! We walked in & Hannah smiled and greeted us immediately. She didn't leave us wondering what we should do. She let us know that we could order with her at the bar & then she'd bring our food out to the table we chose to sit at. The menu is great! It has a lot of variety. I was feeling pretty indecisive. Hannah recommended a few of her favorite rolls & told us to take our time. She was fantastic! We ordered the Shaggy Dog roll & added avocado ($1.00) & cream cheese. It was scrumptious. YUM! We also ordered the California Maki Roll (subbed cream cheese instead of cucumber) & a Keto Bomb. The Keto Bomb was half an avocado filled /topped w crab meat & spicy mayo. Anyone who thinks they can't go to a sushi restaurant bc they are on a Keto diet would be wrong here. This was sooo good & filling. There were 2 sushi chefs working. Both were friendly. I got a photo of Isaac & Hannah before I left. I wish all restaurants had staff that were as friendly & welcoming! Even though we ordered at the bar, Hannah still served us & checked on us throughout our meal. She was technically our server. So, keep this in mind when you are ordering & paying at the bar. Don't forget to tip bc she definitely deserved to be taken care of. The sushi chefs work hard to make fantastic rolls also. Everything here was 5 stars! Fantastic food, friendly staff & a nice atmosphere. I usually take photos of the menu but since we ordered at the bar, I didn't. I went here on Sunday for lunch and was very pleased with everything. The person who took our order was very polite and friendly, and I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. We started on fried gyozas that were crunchy and very tasty. My boyfriend and I shared sushi and it was very delicious and freshly prepped. It's would seem unlikely that the best sushi in the area would be way out here in Canyon Lake, but it's true! The sushi is always fresh and delicious! My favorite is the Dam Good roll... and it's damn good! I got mine to go, so the deconstructed Wonton Nachos made it nice and crispy when I got home! It's counter service, so you order and seat yourself but I know they do a lot of pick up too... it's a very happy environment and the staff is so nice and accommodating! Last evening was our first trip to Pier Sushi. We haven't found any really good sushi since moving to New Braunfels until this place. After a few personal recommendations we decided to give it a try. We ordered online and picked it up in half an hour. We ordered 3 kinds of regular sushi- salmon, yellowtail and albacore, all of which were nicely sized pieces, not too thinly cut which were very good, fresh and not too much rice. We ordered 3 rolls. A spicy salmon Maki roll which was more medium sized roll and very good. The Red Dragon and Hawk rolls were very good and as we asked, very little cream cheese. Next time we will try the Godzilla!
