This was a surprise to us. We did not expect to find this place on this small community known for its lake, dam, and river. We live in Bastrop County with 5 times the population and we don't have a Japanese restaurant that's this good. But I wish we did! They don't have a liquor license but it's BYOB so we picked up something along the way and enjoyed it with our meal. We had the Yellow Dragon (thin slices of yellowtail sashimi) and it was fantastic! Just outstanding! Then we tried the red snapper nigiri sushi, which was also amazing. We were wanting a lite meal so we ate family style. For our entree, we ordered Baked Salmon over Yakisoba noodles with a side of seaweed salad. We were really impressed with everything.

Wow! I mean WOW!!!! For a location that does not look fancy it has the best sushi around the New Braunfels area. We tried 3 different rolls and they were all FANTASTIC! It is a walk up and order counter, but order taker/cashier was so helpful, polite and joyful that it made this experience very pleasant. We will return to try more rolls and dishes. It is well worth or 20 min drive to get here.

As someone who likes to pride myself as being a bit picky when it comes to sushi, I was quite hesitant trying this place out. I didn't know what to expect especially it being small town sushi. I was proven wrong because this has been some of the better sushi that I have had in TX. I was a bit concerned when I asked the lady what were some rolls she recommended, and she suggested the Philly Roll... Considering I'm more of a Sashimi person and not very fond of the craft sushi rolls, I thought this might have been a bad choice to come here, but a couple rolls stood out to myself and my husband so we ordered those. I don't quite remember them considering we were here last July... but all I remember is we walked out content and still talking about this sushi til this day! If we ever come back to the area, we will definitely keep this place in mind!

Great presentation, really good sushi considering that it's probably tough to get non-frozen seafood this far inland. The only reason I'm giving them a 4 is because of customer service. Server forgot to give me napkins and when I got up to grab them she just stared at me and didn't say anything. A little better service and this place could become one of my favorite spots in the area.

First time trying Pier Sushi. We were staying at a place near by and stopped here for lunch. We ordered a couple sushi rolls and fried rice. The people here are super friendly and you can pick any of the rolls and ask for the chef to do a custom roll for you. I ordered the Rescue Roll and did some customization. The roll was good. If you ever stop here I highly recommend the chicken fried rice! It's so unique and so deliciously Smokey flavor. It's nothing I had before and I've had a lot of fried rice in my life lol. This one is a must try. What ever sauce they use to fry this fried rice is so good and I honestly couldn't pin point what. It doesn't taste like soy sauce but rather something else. If it's soy... dude that's one unique soy sauce and I want to know where I can get some so I can add to my soy collection lol . I am looking forward to coming here again in the future when we visit! Do I recommend this place? YES!

It's counter service, but they actually serve you at the table. You just have to order at the counter. The prices are freaking great. The place itself is really cool. It's right by Whitewater amphitheater it's got the old school counter service Café style set up. I've eaten there about five times now and the food has always been excellent.

Don't let the storefront fool you! Great local sushi spot! Shaggy Dog roll and the Dam Good roll have become our favorites here. Salmon sashimi is buttery and served nicely over fresh slices of cucumber. Today we chose to add the Diablo soup. Wow! Slightly sweet and perfectly spicy - the shrimp, the little scallops, the best imitation crab I've had, and the fun udon noodles - that is on my radar for sure on future visits! Folks are great! ADA access although the parking lot is a pressed crushed granite not paved.

Location is quaint and you can sit outside. The menu is extensive and the food was amazing. BYOB and enjoy some of the best sushi you will ever have.

This is the spotttttt! Hostess was very sweet and helpful and the young gentleman making the sushi was so cool he made us a specialty roll and it was sooo good and the steak fried rice was *chefs kiss* we will make the drive to come back as this is a new fave for sushi

Island Roll, subbed chicken for crab, subbed seaweed for soy paper, and added cucumber.

Easily the best sushi I have ever had! Which knew it would be in Canyon Lake/Sattler?! I don't eat much of anything spicy and they were more than happy to suggest options for sauces.. the Honey Wasabi, Pier Sauce, and Eel Sauce were my favorites! I had the Island Roll with crab instead of teriyaki chicken, subbed seaweed for soy paper, and added cucumber. I never knew what I was missing out on! Pineapple DOES go on pizza...and sushi! They also sent a sauce cup with honey so I could use it to even out any unwanted spice. The gyozas and egg rolls were also delicious! I'm sure it will take me atleast a full day or two to finish everything!

From stepping in the door to the last bite... best sushi hands down. Huge variety, staff is knowledgeable and considerate of allergies. Wish I lived closer for sure!

Placed an order to go and as you can see it doesn't look that appetizing. Just rice and meat, did have some corn, green onion and I'm guessing black sesame seeds. Meat looks unseasoned and also had a weird smell to it. Drowned it with the soy sauce they gave me as there isn't many food options around here. I've had their sushi and other items and those are good but this wasn't. Aside from that it was close to closing time, service is quick and they are friendly. Just missed on this plate.

Did not have a reservation on this occasion, but they always make me feel welcome and manage to fit us in. Sat on the outdoor covered patio that was cool and shaded. You are given a card where you can mark your dim sum selections. I ordered the Shrimp Pancake, Snow Crab Ball and Chinese Sausage Sticky Rice. The standout was the shrimp pancake that had a really great texture and flavor. The snow crab ball had a strange texture with shrimp surrounding the snow crab claw. The Chinese Sticky Rice is always a favorite. Also ordered the Truffle Egg Fried rice and Birds Nest with Seasonal Vegetable. The Truffle rice is so flavorful like a flavor explosion in your mouth. The Birds Nest is made with fried potato shreds which contain the a variety of vegetables including cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. The nest is also edible and has a crunchy texture. The presentation of the food is amazing and everything came out hot and fresh. The flavors were on point, and you can tell there's attention to detail in the preparation. The only challenge we had was that they would not allow split checks or at least partially split checks - so we spend a huge amount of time figuring out what everyone owed. We ordered 2 cocktails, a lemonade and a mocktail - that took 15 minutes longer than everyone else so the toast to the grad who ordered it was delayed as appetizers came out before her drink Timing was also way off - we were asked what appetizers we wanted shortly after being seated and when we did order and told them we would start with the smaller bites and order the mains for later - everything came out at the same time except for one dish that was way later than everything else So before food let's talk service - it was a special graduation meal and though the food was good - the service is enough to make me not want to go back. The server was just socially awkward, was not able to converse and seemed to struggle with every aspect of the role! We spent over 20 minutes trying to flag her - then anyone down- just to order a soda as the mocktail was not good! We wanted second drinks but as there was no service to be found - we gave up. Dishes were dumped on the table by whoever brought them as we then sat with dirty / empty dishes throughout the meal except for the one or two we gave back and the one with food in it that was taken! Things got weird when we asked to bag up two dishes when the server seemed to really get confused and had to take time for her process and ignored the dessert order - then came to the table and asked if we wanted dessert!?!! She was very pleasant but the role of a server might not be best for her! Now the food however was a solid 5 - the chili crisp crab burrata was one of the best dishes I have had anywhere ! The garlic sticky noodles were also fantastic , loved the smashed cucumber, the impossible pot stickers were not as good as in the past as they were cold and chewy - almost as though they had been made days ahead and were stale! The mapo tofu was great and we have plenty left over and my husband and daughter enjoyed the cashew chicken! We love the quaint setting, great playlist and fantastic food but service throughout from the server to the folks expediting dishes was substandard ! For this reason would hesitate returning in a hurry!

Loro is an Asian smokehouse and bar featuring grilled and smoked meats with Southeast Asian and Japanese-inspired sauces, sides, and a bar that boasts craft beer, boozy slushees, and batch cocktails. Parking at this location is a bit of a challenge. They have overflow parking in the back but the spots are really small. We sat at the bar area and worked our way through cocktails, apps, and dessert. We opened a tab and the bar staff takes your order which is convenient, versus how you normally have to order by waiting in line at the bar. The bar staff was extremely busy because they have to make all the cocktails and take the line orders at the bar. They are a master of multitasking. It was $3 martini night on Tuesday, so was excited to sample the four different drink options. lychee martini, Mexican martini, and Lucky Cat cosmo martini. Lychee martini is made with new amsterdam vodka, sake, elderflower, Mexican martini with espolon blanco, olive, yuzu, lime and cosmo with vodka, blood orange, naranja, lime. The lychee was hands down my favorite of the three. We started with the Dip Sampler that included a trifecta of smoked shishito queso, smoked salmon dip and Thai green salsa with the Siete blue corn tortilla chips. We went through the chips quickly and got a second round of wonton chips which I preferred to the Siete chips. Tried the Mango Chamoy frozen Slushee with Siete Chamoy Botana Sauce & Siete Chile Lime Seasoning Rim, passionfruit, Aperol, Sake and Sparkling Wine which was refreshing. All their boozy slushies are $5 during happy hour. Ordered the oak grilled edamame from the happy hour menu and it was a flavor explosion with a dusting of serracha powder, lemon zest and white sesame. For dinner, I ordered my go-to rice bowl with coconut-scented rice, seasonal pickles, thai herbs and steak as the protein. They normally served this with Bavette, but the steak was a bit tough and chewy this time. Finished everything off with cheesecake with five spice crumble, yuzu marmalade for dessert. The vibe at the bar was relaxed and lively without feeling overwhelming, and the collab menu felt creative without trying too hard. The ingredients are very thoughtful for a fully developed flavor profile. Just what I would expect from the culinary minds of Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin.
