Very disappointing experience. We have been eating here for many years, and the food used to be consistently very good. The last time we ate here was about six months ago, and everything was fine. Today, my wife asked me to order takeout, so I ordered the drunken noodles and grilled chicken. Unfortunately, both dishes were horrible. The food had almost no flavor whatsoever, and the chicken was completely bland and tasteless. This was nothing like the food we remember and enjoyed for so many years. What made the experience even worse was the way our complaint was handled. I called the restaurant to let them know about our experience, and the person I spoke with showed absolutely no concern or interest in addressing the problem. There was no apology, no attempt to make things right, and frankly, it seemed like he simply didn't care. I honestly don't know if there has been a change in ownership or management, but something has definitely changed. Unfortunately, after being loyal customers for many years, we will not be returning. Good food is important, but good customer service matters just as much--and we received neither today. read more

Green beans in the fried rice and yellow curry - rice was inedibly mushy, and flavorless aside from the crushed red pepper used to add mild spice. My $35 spent may as well have been a donation, as I threw out the food because it was so tasteless. Sadly I wont come back, though i am sure this place will be open and continue serving school cafeteria quality food for years to come,​ so if you enjoy that cuisine then come and eat here. The attitude of this place was sad. LAZY VIBE no sense of customer service. They got my order wrong. I asked for a fork they said yes in the bag. Got to car no fork. Food: We ordered the naem, larb, pad Thai and kid's fried rice with chicken. The naem was okay and had two pieces of lettuce. The larb tasted sugary and did not taste like larb I've tasted in the past. The pad Thai tasted sour and the dishes seemed "mushy". The kid's fried rice lacked flavor and had a lot of random raw pieces of broccoli and cucumbers. Spicy 3 and under are good for those who don't want a spicy dish. Service: The service was fine. They refilled waters and checked in on us frequently. Price: It is expensive! Be prepared to spend around $80-90 for a family of four. The kid's menu is around $8.99-$12.99. The specialty dishes are around $17.99. Overall, we were not impressed with the food and price on the dishes. It did not taste like authentic Thai/Lao food. Came for lunch and food was good. It came out quickly and was hot and tasty. Docked a star though because I had to flag the server down for everything and it's just way too expensive. There's no lunch menu, no starter chicken & rice soup that's typical of other Thai places I've been to. The portion is even kind of small for the price. We got 2 plates of Pad Thai, an order of crispy spring rolls (4 to an order) and water and it was $42. We will not likely be back over the pricing, even though the food was good. I suggest going across the street and getting Chinese food lunch with soup & crab Rangoon for $10pp (even for seafood). Same entree portion size too. read more

I was looking for something semi-healthy after a long work day. While driving through the area, I drove past this establishment. Plenty of parking available and the Sushi neon sign was what I was looking for. One couple seated and already eating, another patron waiting for carry out...and me. Dining alone tonight so I didn't have to worry about the wife's dietary snobbery. It is very clean and bright inside. A flat screen TV was tuned to a cheesy medical drama on mute with no closed captioning. So while waiting I watched pretty people extract bloody people from horrendous wreckage. Not the best diner entertainment but they were pretty people. The waitress took my order of Pad Thai with chicken. I hadn't eaten all day so I ordered a sushi entree too. Her recommendation was the dynamite sushi. Sounded dynamite to me too. I didn't see it on the menu so I didn't know what to expect. The Pad Thai came first. Very tasty. Chicken was a little bland but tender. I got medium spice. Just the right heat. After I finished the Pad Thai, the dynamite sushi arrived. Battered and fried sushi roll with lots of sauce. Very delicious but I'm not sure if I checked the healthy box on this meal. While dining, three more couples arrived and a guy for takeout. Overall, solid meal and good experience. I would come back, not sure the wife will want to try. She expects something other than the average. I'd say this place was one the tastier side of average. Hope this helps. We went for Indian at the connecting Indian restaurant (one half of the restaurant is Indian called Taj Mahal, and the other half is the Thai restaurant). We ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Red Curry with Chicken and Thai Crispy Egg Rolls from the Thai menu. The Pad Thai was delicious. It was in a light peanut sauce, so my husband (who is not a nut eater) even enjoyed it. We also liked the spring rolls, which came out hot and crispy. We were disappointed, however, in the "red" curry - which was not red at all, but more like a tan color, and had a very thin sauce. I even had to confirm with our server that it was red curry. It was abundant with fresh zucchini and green beans, so that was good...just not the red curry we're used to. Service was good. We enjoyed our Saag Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala from the Indian menu ( though the Tikka Masala is sweeter than most we've eaten. It's good - just different). Decided to try this place and what a mistake. First of all the food was expensive. 4 small eggs rolls for $9. Then they had kids running rampant through the entire restaurant. They were so rambunctious that they ran in to a table and knocked over and broke a pepper shaker. Then one of them was ringing the bell in the kitchen non stop. $52 for two sodas, 4 small egg rolls, chicken satay appetizer and one order of pad Thai. I get it that things are going up in price but it just seemed a little high. Then the kids were insane. They were not kids eating at the restaurant but the employees kids. Friendly people. Appears to be family run. I came in today to order the Larb Kai. First the good, the food was freshly cooked, nicely plated and the spicy/heat level was a perfect medium. The down side, the food is way over priced for my budget. $18 for a small plate of minced chicken and a scoop of rice. The young man who took my order also brought the food to me but that was the last I saw of him. No one came by to check on me. There wasn't any salt on the table and I would have liked a couple wedges of limes. There was only one other couple that came in after I was served. I always seek out Thai food wherever I am regardless of the location, appearance or otherwise. I've been to Thailand numerous times and love the cuisine. Thai dishes should never be the same as they are recipes passed down through families over the year. I give Thai Lao Orchid four stars because they have good flavor, the service is excellent and I have yet to have a bad meal there. I like spice and heat and while they don't quite have the heat level I am looking for, their curries have good flavor and their noodle dishes have always been delicious. It took time to acclimate to the green beans in the curries, but I have grown to enjoy it. Check them out and give them a try - my go dishes are the Panang and Green Curry as well as the Pad See-Ew, but don't forget the crispy rolls, they are always a must have. read more

This place was packed at lunch time on a Monday. Good sign. Service fast and excellent. Very pleased with all the food. Thai crispy egg rolls were awesome, perfectly Crisp and could tell they were fried in fresh oil, and I was SO PLEASED to see them served with traditional dipping sauce with peanuts and sweet light flavor. Spring rolls were SO FRESH, clearly prepared to order, tender wrapper, great filling and delicious peanut sauce. Shrimp pad Thai also delicious, ordered spiciness of level 3, but to me, could've been spicier. Very well sauced, unlike some places I've been where the noodles seem dry. Would've liked it served with lime instead of lemon. The complimentary soup, looks super underwhelming but is in fact very nice. Flavorful and perfectly seasoned. A nice simple chicken and rice with good broth. Enjoyed it very much. Got mango sticky rice to-go. Wish there was a little more rice but very good flavor and tasted just as it should. I was in the area and wanted some Thai food. I didn't feel like driving to my regular spot so I figured I would give this place a try. I ordered the cucumber salad with crab, basil beef, spring rolls, and pad thai. My food was ready when I got there and packed well. The spring rolls were tasty but they were a little thinner than I am used to. The cucumber salad was okay but it felt like it was missing something. Like more vinegar, maybe a little heat would have cheered it up. My basil beef with fried rice was very good. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the spices were on point. The Pad Thai was just okay. It was a little bland. When I heat up my leftovers I will need to add some fish sauce or something. It was also very short on the green onions and egg. We thought he wanted drink order so my husband ordered drinks. The male rudely snapped, "aren't you ready to order, you need to hurry my staff needs to take a break". This should have told us to leave but it was late and children were hungry. We quickly ordered, 3 out of 7 orders were wrong. We never saw a waiter or anyone until we left. An unexpected visit was a very tasty surprise! We had gone up 281 to grab dinner at a Thai favorite that we had forgotten was closed on Mondays. Traffic going back looked pretty heavy, so we turned to Yelp to find something nearby. Found Thai Lao was only 4 miles further and they menu was similar to our regular spot, so we decided to give it a try. What a uniquely decorated little place! We ended up ordering our identical favorites as a comparison. Granted, we don't normally order all these things in one sitting, but we figured we're there so we might as well see how it stacks up. Ordered Vietnamese egg rolls, potstickers, one order of salmon nigiri (2pc), one massaman curry with chicken level 3, one red curry with pork level 2. We liked the Vietnamese egg rolls very much- hot and crispy, accompanied by romaine leaves, sliced cucumber, noodles, bean sprouts, and a tasty dipping sauce. The potstickers themselves were also good. The dipping sauce was heavily soy-based and, therefore, very salty. I would prefer these with a less salty sauce, one that would better compliment the chicken filling of these crispy pockets of goodness. The curries were both delicious. The spice level wasn't too spicy at 3 and 2 - enough for added flavor but not enough to wish you brought Kleenex! Flavor was great, although the curries were a little thinner than what we're used to. The red curry included green beans and zucchini- different from my go-to but still tasty. The salmon nigiri was my least favorite. As a whole, it was pretty bland and the rice was unusually mushy, almost creamy. I had to add a lot of wasabi to get some flavor but at that point it was just wasabi flavor. I've never had salmon so bland. Service was very good. Everything came out quite quickly and hot, even though it was pretty busy. This place, for us, is more like borderline 4 stars or slightly under. To our surprise, the menu noted that sodas ($2.99) come with 2 refills, tea comes with 3. I think a place that serves hot, spicy, salty food should expect you to drink more, but I would rather pay a little more than potentially pay $6 for Coke just because I needed a few more sips than my two drink limit. So that and the bland nigiri is what brings it down a bit for us. We wouldn't make a special trip out for this place, especially with 281 traffic, but wouldn't hesitate one bit about stopping by if we were in the area!
