Loved this place! Everything was so totally yummy. We had the special borscht of the day, which was basically just cold borscht. But delicious! Filled with slivers of beets and a bit of dill, and sour cream (or something like), so very good and tasty. A big bowl. My friend and I split the bowl. We also had pickled cucumbers with farmer cheese and honey. Also very very good. Then we had 2 orders of pierogis...1 meat, 1 potato. Both perfect. Hearty and filling but not doughy, delicious sauces. Also had their pasta and brussel sprouts...another winner. Finished with the white kielbasa. Served with a pile of homemade mashed potatoes and sautéed onions, so good. My only complaint is they were soooo slow. They need to move a bit quicker. Get the food out. It's a small place with a limited menu. It shouldn't take that long. But nevertheless, an absolute winner of a place. I will absolutely be back. Highly recommended.
Delicious pierogis here! I ordered an order of 6 meat pierogis for $16. Really tasty, and I loved the onions and dill. The order came out quickly, and tasted handmade. I wish there was a bit more diversity in the meat pierogis (after a few pierogis filled with meat, it gets easy to want something different), but overall very much satisfied!
I am a big fan of anything that resembles empanadas, dumplings, wontons etc., and pierogis are not the exception. I've visited Dekalb Market on numerous occasions but have never stopped to try pierogi. Finally gave them a try and went with the sampler and boy was I in for a delicious treat. The dough was cooked just right, the filling was filled to the rim and the flavors were spot on. It was a great re-introduction to pierogis since I have not had one in over 20 years. Will be back when craving this delicious treat.
Pierogi Boys is the hot new spot in Ridgewood to get authentic Polish cuisine and let me tell you it did NOT disappoint. We started with the gin pickle martini which was the perfect balance of tart and sour. Then my friend and I split the potato and cheese and meat pierogis and they were absolutely perfectly cooked and the flavors were so savory and delicious. I particularly loved the crème fresh that paired with the cheese version. Service was quick and friendly and the ambience was very cozy and homey. Be sure to check out their store next door for some amazing healthy snack options!
This was really delicious, but also really heavy. The cold borscht helps cut out the fattiness of the pierogies though. Well, I typically don't like beets, I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed this soup and all the fresh dill flavors. I opted to get a cup of cold borscht with beef pierogies and my biggest regret was not getting the sampler of the pierogies. While the beef was pretty good, it was really heavy after the first one so it would have been good to try the others as well. The service is pretty quick and I definitely would come back here to try the other flavors.
I popped into the Dekalb Market Hall after a doctor's appointment for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon Pierogi Boys! They offer authentic Polish comfort food which was just the ticket on a snowy weekday afternoon (especially when I felt like crap). I was having trouble deciding what to order (that delicate balance between ordering all the yummy food I want and not over ordering lol). That's when I saw they offer a combo! So I decided on the Kielbasa and Pierogi platter (I went with fried pierogis, but the boiled were also calling me). The pierogis came with caramelized onion and chives, as well as a side of thick sour cream, beetroot horseradish, and stone ground mustard. Everything came out fresh, hot, and FAST. The kielbasa was excellent as were the pierogis. I am not a fan of beets so I steered clear of the horseradish, but rest was perfect. The ONLYYYYY compaint I have is the pickle. As a massive fan of pickles this was a devastating loss and the only reason I docked a star. I prefer new pickles or kosher dill, but this was a polish pickle (which makes sense haha). Polish pickles are sour and that is NOT my vibe. So sadly I had to go without a pickle, which if you know me is a huge loss. The market where Pierogi Boys is situated is really fun, but somewhat overwhelming (too many delicious options). For prime lunch time it wasn't too busy and my food came out quickly. I ate at a bar table near the booth and it was perfect. Can't wait to come back!
Ordered close to closing time and the food was prepared super fast. For a food hall I think the pierogis were pretty good! Located inside dekalb market hall, this spot was a pleasant surprise since I haven't had pierogies in awhile. Ordered the Pierogi sampler platter- boiled($16), it came with 2 Potato & Cheese Pierogi, 2 Sauerkraut & Mushroom Pierogi, 2 Meat Pierogi topped bacon, caramelized onions, and fresh dill/scallions. Also sour cream for dipping on the side. First impression was "oh wow this actually looks sooo good" because the presentation looked great. I love potatoes so I was excited to try this. Took my first bite and the first thing I thought was "this is pillowly soft" for the wrapper. Flavor was great, the bacon, dill, scallions and sour cream was such a nice touch to top off with. The pierogies are packed with fillings every bite was savory deliciousness. I wasn't too crazy about sauerkraut and mushroom. But the meat pierogi was really impressive. There was so much meat in there and it was flavorful despite being boiled. The bacon and dill they topped it off with was also so salty but it complimented the pierogies just right. It had a fresh kick to it from both. In order I'd rank them as meat, cheese and potato, and then saurkraut and mushroom. The next time I visit the market I'm going to try the fried pierogi sampler and the kielbasa since those looked really good too! Portion sizing was great, maybe a little expensive? but expected given the location they're in. Worth trying if you're looking for a savory treat or a meal.
Located inside Dekalb Market Hall, this place hits the spot on a chilly fall day. I tried all 3 of the pierogis which were wonderful, but the hot borscht was my favorite. There isn't much to say other than if you enjoy warm, juicy pierogis and yummy, hearty beet soup, this is the spot. I recommend getting a variety as they're great for sharing. Would definitely return again (once I dine at all the other stalls in Dekalb!)
Given the spot is in a food hall, the food can't be super authentic, but it's close. The cold (summer) Borscht is resemblant of my homemade version- a bit tangy and packed with beets. Comes with an egg. It's weirdly refreshing for a summer night. The pierogis are just ok... they're big (3 bites each), but I would pass on the sauerkraut&mushroom ones, meat ones are passable, but the potato and cheese are great! Though I didn't love the caramelized onions as they overpowered the dish. The guy at the register was so sweet and made conversation with every customer! Dekalb food hall is a bit claustrophobic and he made the place a lot more welcoming :)
Another cute new spot in ridgewood. We were eager to try this new polish restaurant and so we went there on a Sunday night for their soft opening. Unfortunately, maybe due to later of the day and because it's been open for a few days, they had run out from a couple of stuff from the menu. Not sure if it's because it's pretty new but the menu didn't have much options- menu did say soft opening menu. Therefore, I am sure they will change around the menu as they adjust. Despite all of this, I do have to say the food and drinks were very delicious. My favorite meal was the chilled borscht. It's considered a cold soup with beets and it was so flavorful. I could've order 5 of these! Another item which was juicy and delicious with the perfect amount of mustard was the kielbasa platter. Now we must come back and try the meat pierogi and potato pierogi because unfortunately it was sold out. We actually had the last plate of sauerkraut and mushroom pierogi. Although I am not a fan of sauerkraut I did think this was very good and very flavorful. I am hoping later they have a dessert menu because I did not see one there. As per drinks i have to come back to try Warszawa cocktail because it was also sold out but instead I tried their gorzka sour which was decently refreshing. Overall the service was great. We were 5 adults with kids and the host was kind of enough to sit us the best she can. Everyone were very sweet and welcoming. I know it must've been tough as they are just starting out but I do believe they will do great in the future. Keep in mind it is a small space therefore expect a little wait to be seated. I can't wait to see this restaurant evolve.
Pierogi Boys Fast Food is a Polish Restaurant located in the Lower Level of Dekalb Market Hall in Albee Square, Brooklyn. The Pierogies are pretty good & very filling. They have an assortment of fillings to pick from or you can get the Sampler. It comes with sour cream & gravy sides. They have an assortment of bottled sodas as well as beer & they also serve kielbasa sausages. The staff are friendly & accommodating. The ambiance is very casual since the restaurant is located inside a mall with many other fast food restaurants. It's clean & well lit. A nice place to eat if you want to grab a quick bite.
I'm in love. I don't want to brag, but I've had pierogies before. You know, the frozen kind. Umm yeah, not the same. At all. These were literally some of the best things I've ever eaten, from the dough to the filling to the presentation. And to think, that it came from a stall in a market where the only seating are a few stools. (But, that would add a star anywhere, as so many places offer nowhere to sit). First, I didn't think that an order of 6 seemed that big, though I assumed big enough. But I wasn't able to finish them, which is saying a lot since I lack portion control and loved these so much. I had the combo so that I could taste a few varieties, and all were good but the meat was surprisingly my favorite. The beef cheeks and pork butt were so tender, and encased in the dough just made them even better. I also really liked the sauerkraut and mushroom, and liked the potato and cheese but less than the others. The caramelized onions and sour cream topped it off perfectly. Decided on this place after being decidedly overwhelmed by the myriad of choices at the Food hall and also realizing I didn't want to have to go all the way to the LES for my pierogi fix this trip. Got the vegetarian platter which had two different kinds of pierogi and two cold salads. The cheese and potato pierogi were exactly as they should have been. The mushroom and sauerkraut pierogi were bomb and full of umami. The beet salad, while simple, was ample and refreshing. The cucumber salad was generously mixed with fresh dill and was absolutely delish. I'd go back just for that alone. The platter also came with sour cream and caramelized onions and I swear weighed like three pounds, plenty for breakfast the next day, all for $15. Will definitely be back. read more

Was in Brooklyn to check out the "David Bowie Is" exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum for a 'girls trip/weekend'. Stayed at the Hotel Indigo and could see the Target/Trader Joe's/Dekalb Market building/signage and decided to check it out for dinner on our first night (Friday). OH MY WORD. First of all, when you are going down the escalator to Dekalb Market, you have no idea what a world of deliciousness you are getting yourself into. NO IDEA. Cuisines from around the globe, situated in stalls/stands that seems to keep winding deeper and deeper into food heaven. They had everything from bbq, Mexican, donuts, vegetarian, and anything else yummy you can imagine! However, one place in particular caught my eye, and I was done for: Pierogi Boys. My great-grandmother was a Polish immigrant, and I remember my grandma making her pierogi recipe when I was a child... Mrs. T's has NOTHING on the real thing, and until you have handmade pierogi you have not lived. So I was excited to devour my order of six potato & cheese pierogi with caramelized onions & sour cream. While I was waiting for my food, I noticed they also had cucumber salad and borscht. I decided then and there that it would not be my last visit before we left Brooklyn. My food arrived and was as glorious as I imagined it would be- soft pillows of potato instantly brought me 20 years into the past, and my stomach was once again truly happy. I returned for lunch the following day (Saturday).... Could you blame me?! I again ordered the six potato & cheese pierogi and the cucumber salad as well (I also wanted the borscht, but knew my eyes were bigger than my stomach). The pierogi were just was superb as the night before, and the cucumber salad was exactly as I expected- cool, creamy, and the right amount of dill. If I lived nearby I would probably eat here every day and get extremely fat, with no regrets. Not only is the food divine, but the staff is super friendly and great to talk to! Pierogi Boys is a gray addition to the food court at DeKalb Market. I highly recommend the pierogi sample platter for anyone that hasn't tried this traditional polish dish yet. It comes with a selection of all three pierogi flavors: potato & cheese, mushroom & sauerkraut, and meat, and is topped with sour cream, caramelized onions and bacon. The meat pierogi are my favorites and the condiments nicely round the dish. The addition of fresh dill springs and chives is a nice touch I wouldn't expect from a food court vendor. read more

Yeah, they're expensive. But the food is delicious. I had a sampler plate with kielbasa and pierogis, grainy mustard and beet salad for $12, and I was in heaven. As I sat and ate, I witnessed a man come up to one of the people preparing food to tell her that their pierogis rivaled his mother's. That's high praise! And all my friends oohed and ahhed at my Instagram-worthy photo. Yummy comfort food. I will be back. read more

This place is awesome. Located in the City point Dekalb Market. You can't go wrong with Pierogi and Polish beer. The food was amazing. Pricy, but worth it. Alexy was super friendly and gave descriptions of the food and their alcohol selection from Poland. If you are in the mood for comfort food, this is the place. read more

Such delicious pierogis and you get so many! Dekalb Market Hall is great when you're going with a group that wants different cuisines. Good amount of seating throughout. It's also next to the Trader Joe's should you need any groceries. read more
Ordered the classic potato and cheese pierogis for lunch which had caramelized onions and sour cream and added bacon to it. It tasted very authentic and homemade. You can see them making the pierogis fresh and smell them cook which lead me to their stand to order. I did enjoy eating the pierogis but I thought the price was a bit high for 6 was about ~$15 not including drinks or anything else just the bacon. I would visit this place again and try one of their lunch specials or get a smaller order since eating the six was very filling. read more

Food: 7/10 Service: 8/10 Atmosphere: 6/10 Pierogi Boys does a great job with their fresh, hand made pierogis and grilled sausage. The pierogi sampler can be a bit of a mess, and I'm not a huge fan of some of the flavors incorporated, the the overall cookery is great. Located in the Dekalb Market Hall food court, this is a great option to warm your bones with some eastern European comfort food when the weather turns cold. The Kielbasa platter is a can't miss - give it a whirl with a nice draft beer and enjoy a great, inexpensive meal while you watch hundreds more pierogi be crafted by hand! read more

Eater's recent review of Pierogi Boys at the DeKalb Market Hall said "You've never had a fresher pierogi." And while that may be true, I've definitely had many, many better pierogis. First thing to note, the pierogis at Pierogi Boys only come boiled, none of them can be ordered pan fried. If I had to give a title to this review, I would call it: virtually tasteless. Because that's what the pierogis were. I went with the classic pierogis, potato and cheese. They come in a bowl with grilled onions and a side of sour cream. The best part of the dish was the grilled onions, mainly because I could actually taste them. I certainly got the texture of a pierogi, but only the faintest taste of potato, and no cheese, could be noticed over the onions. I was hoping this place would deliver, because I love pierogis, but it fell far short of expectations. You may see the 10 other reviews I did of the market on the same day, and think: this fat guy brutally assaulted his tastebuds with like 40 different flavors over the course of 90 minutes, no wonder he couldn't taste the delicate pierogis. Good point, however, I had considered that possibility, which is why I had the pierogis early on ... so no excuses for them. The place has promise though, you can see them making the pierogis fresh, right there in front of you, they just have to step up the execution. read more

Yes yes yes. These pierogis are so good - now, they are also the only pierogis I've ever had - but they are good! We got the sampler and it was perfect for a snack for two. Love that they serve alcohol and have a nice little bar to eat at. A bit on the pricy side but overall great experience and food! read more

Craving the duo $14 for a polish sausage and 3 pierogies. The sausage is uber juicy. Pierogies r good. Comes w sort if dijon mustard and mashed up beet. Could you please not gaslight me into me being too sensitive and there was no way I couldn't leave hungry? I don't know any person who gets full off a small portion of soup. I tried like hundreds of borshts from different restaurants because I am Russian, I literally grew up eating it and it's my favorite dish. I could definitely tell if sugar was added to it or not. And yes I am all for healthy lifestyle but unfortunately a lot of sugar and other unnecessary chemicals is added to American food which makes it very hard for me to eat out. Honestly American restaurants have a lot of issues, I lived in Russia and Europe, so I know what I am talking about. There are people out there with GERD, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity etc who have to keep a strict diet and it's hard fir them to eat out as well?! I wish American restaurants were more into healthy dining. About the pierogi: maybe I wasn't lucky and MY portion was too salty. And could we please stop using the pandemic as an excuse? Gaslighting me and playing the victim is just not ok. Be happy you have the means to open a business because other people are not as lucky as you are and have to make 11 dollars and hour. read more

great service. food is ready relatively quick. i ordered the sample platter, 15$ and came with mushroom and sauerkraut pierogis, meat pierogis, and potato pierogis. my favorite were the meat ones! so good, like a chinese dumpling but Ukrainian. i've been here twice, it's consistent, fresh, and prepared well with a dollop of sour cream and bacon bits. u can also sit there and watch them make the pierogis. it's my go to when i'm at dekalb market! read more
