The last I visited this place was maybe 5-7 years ago and it was nothing to write home about. I visited on a whim because I was too lazy to cook that night and it was a surprise. I ordered a nice smash burger and it was juicy and flavorful. Had a pretty decent draft beer too. They've got a nice selection. Only downside was service seemed a bit slow and disorganized. The fries and onion rings came out crispy and hot, totally worth the drive from Springville. Just a constructive suggestion: dimming the lights a bit could create a smoother, cozier vibe, and spreading the burger toppings more evenly would help (all my jalapeños were in the middle, so I had to search for them after the first bite, lol). I love this place. It might be the best restaurant in Porterville. They have awesome beer on tap, even Pliny the Elder which is such a hard beer to come by in the bottle let alone on tap! Every food item we've had has been superb. And only once was the service something to complain about. Even then it's because they got packed and couldn't keep up with how fast it happened. I've had the vault fries, vault burger, Tri tip salad, and the ribeye. You can't go wrong with anything, just depends on your mood. Just note the ranches cost 25 cents each, but I believe it's house made. I opt for the blue cheese dressing though, it's out of this world. read more

One local restaurant I would highly recommend is The Vault Bar & Grill. I absolutely love this place because the food is always consistent and full of flavor. The Vault fries are hands down my favorite. Their steaks are also amazing, cooked well, and always tender. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff is friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even better. If you're looking for great food and a relaxed place to eat, The Vault is definitely worth visiting. While the fries were a more well done side, my burger was juicy and delicious. I also loved that the bun was not very heavy, it was more light airy. Service was good as well. While waiting on some repairs to get done to the tires of the company truck along with some other problems that the vehicle had, I decided to go give the vault a try. As I walked in, I noticed how high the ceilings were and how this must have been a turn of the century building due to the brick walls and other features within the restaurant. I like that. So the special of the day was brisket. I tried the brisket tacos with a mild pico de gallo and guacamole. And on the side, the parmesan garlic chicken wings. The waitress was very attentive and pleasant to be with. She took my order, And I was quite surprised how quickly my order came to my table. The brisket tacos were quite good. With a little of a spicy kick along with a decent flavor to the meat. The chicken wings were crispy and flavorful. In all, I shall return. We went on a Friday night. Hot as hell outside 108° but it was very comfortable in the Vault. There are booths and tables and outdoor seating. No one was eating outside this night. Place was fairly full and loud. Servers were nice and BUSY. Couples and families were dining. They have a giant selection of beer, wish I was a beer drinker to Report more but it looked good. Our orders arrived and the hamburgers smelled soooo good, nice clean meat, wafts of deliciousness coming from the burgers. I ordered a side salad, it was huge. Went twice.1. Burger topped w pastrami very good. 2.Italian sandwich, like Italian dip, not good. Funky smoky taste. I would say, Just give us plain Italian dips. Also, fries have definite room for improvement. And salt. So: burger was great, Italian was disappointing. I wanted to request money back but it's not like it had bugs in it. IMPORTANT FOR MANAGER!: it was pitch black outside, only at The Vault or closed stores. Thats a severe safety issue at 7pm in December!! People are new to town, and senior citizens can snap a hip (at your expense). I pointed it out to two employees; neither did anything. Even if theyre automated lights, you should adjust them to sundown time. Please fix this!! It makes your place more attractive from outside. Town needs MANY more casual independent restaurants in this town. How many times can a person eat at Apple.....? Light it up and make YOUR place the one to be busiest! read more

The food is ok. We ordered wings and they charged for ranch. And of course didn't tell us. Found out on the bill. So weird I e never been to a place where it doesn't just come with wings. ‍ I ordered a michilada and she asked if I wanted Chamoy but didn't mention it was more for that too! Just poor business. The toppings were meager..if you grabbed a loose small pinch of lettuce, from lets say a salad bag...that basically what I got. Sprinkles of this sprinkles of that.. The food was awesome, but the waitress left something desired. She arrived quickly enough to take our drink and meal orders, but never returned with the drinks??? We had to ask the guy who brought out the food for them. And for the extra side plates we had asked for because of sharing the Vault Fries!!! Yum they are great, just keep an eye on how many jalapeños you pick up with the fries and brisket!!! And 2 sauces. Or you might get really warm really fast!, lol. The bar area caught my attention as I walked in! No TVs are located straight across the seating area. Four screens easily fit on the wall instead of those blocks of beer. Maybe a PowerPoint would be more ethical. This area looks too dry while it lacks attention from the owner; they close at 8. What? Customers do not hit the streets till after 8, and that's lowballing it. I did talk to the host, and she stated they are short-staffed, and the doors couldn't stay open any later than 8, over-time! The music is too soft! A French study shows that turning up the volume on the music can speed up the drinking at the bar. Money, money, money! We ordered BLT, wings, and chicken tenders. More to come! The BLT sandwich was a disappointment. It is made on the wrong bread. I was expecting to see a nice toasted bread sliced in half. Please go for the fries and not the salad. The salad is a couple of leaves of roman lettuce with one soggy tomato and two crisp cucumbers next to your sub. The mayo with a hint of basil tastes lovely. It seems like the wings are an afterthought. Please buy an actual wing and raise the price. Pay for the upgrade. The wings were a turn-off for the kids. They do have three TVs. The screens are off to the right where no one watches them! What a waste of money. This joint is overpriced! Go to Denny's; the quality is just as good. read more

My buddy and I have passed this little burger gem on our walks on the trail behind this establishment many times and on a Monday afternoon I decided it was finally time for my wife and I to treat ourselves to a spontaneous date. We arrived to an empty parking lot that quickly filled up shortly after we placed our order. There were two employees inside who were very friendly and patient as we perused the menu. My wife decided to order the Mushroom Swiss burger with added avocado and I ordered the tri tip sandwich with pepperjack cheese. We also ordered french fries and a Pepsi each. For dipping sauce we ordered ketchup, ranch and barbecue sauce. The employee/cashier told us that she would deliver it to our table outside after the order was ready. We found a nice romantic spot in the shade and waited for our meal to arrive. Shortly after, multiple cars pulled in, picked up their orders and left but one gentlemen patron also appeared at a table near us and waited patiently for his food to be delivered. The food arrived nicely wrapped in a bag and we began to dig in. We noticed our sauces (which we had paid extra for, were missing). I was glad we hadn't ordered to go or we might have made it home without realizing we had not received what we'd paid for...so, I made a quick trip back inside, asked for my sauces and both staff members apologized profusely as they handed the sauces to me. My wife loved the mushroom swiss burger, which was so juicy it dripped flavor with each bite she took. It was juicy, crispy, and crunchy in every way you want a burger to be. My tri tip sandwhich was very good, the best part being the pepperjack cheese which was melted to gooey heaven and had the consistency of warm mayonnaise. I have NEVER had cheese of that consistency and flavor and I was simply floored. I added a tiny amount of bbq sauce to it and bit again in the soft, yet crispy bun and closed my eyes to taste the full effect of this wonderful sandwich. The tri tip itself was not the best I've had, but acceptable. It would have been much better imo had they smoked the meat. The french fries were perfectly cut and perfectly fried and seasoned and were also fresh and warm. The ranch dressing and barbecue sauce were both very good. The meal was filling. Our orders were approximately 15 dollars each with an option for tip on the credit card screen at different percentages. We left a fair tip. The food was a bit pricey but understandable given the quality. We will definitely be back to try other burgers soon. read more

I'm never disappointed whenever I go to the Vault Bar & grill. The food is on point, and the service is fantastic.

I asked for a veggie burger but specifically said I can't do cheese which server acknowledged. Service staff should be aware of what the food ingredients are. I got the burger after one small bite found it had cheese in it, she confirmed after checking, yes it has cheese. Ok fine- I just won't eat it- I'll just eat the fries because I was hungry and out of options. but then I still get charged full ?? I get that a veggie burger may not be a big seller but it's offered and wait staff should know what is in it and at the very least offer to take it off the bill or even a discount since I didn't eat it due to the mistake. Everyone else enjoyed their burger tho. read more
