In a world of blaring, glaring, Malls and Targets--there is the OASIS that is Pig Alley.. and Duncans Mills has wine, great food, more shopping while surrounded by trees, flowers, antique buildings ... and cows. Also- they do sell canvas art. CANVASES ARE one of a kind.. truly. Hand done. I've been coming here for 26 years, and finally have a souvenir that "says" Duncans Mills on it.

If I was the manufacture I would no longer allow this shop to carry my $207 pants with this kind of customer service. I never get upset or ever post anything but this really upset me.

I would expect a retail store with two decades of experience to understand why a customer who spends over $70 on a cotton t-shirt would expect it to last longer than a couple months. And what I scored: a vintage very deep purple, almost black toggle button wool coat with a matching hood that's detachable--quilted purple lining with another flannel lining on the inside and on the hood. It's a very intimate little space that's located upstairs, a very disabled set of stairs leading to a small room with carefully arranged and hung clothing. There's also small objects of art and stuff also beautiful and surprisingly affordable. What I loved about this place is that it's not one of those high priced places where you walk in thinking because it's consignment or vintage, you're gonna get a good deal-but it's outrageously expensive. Nope. This has so many gorgeous things at unbelievably reasonable prices, you want to get everything! The owner/shopkeeper was really sweet and civilized, no pressure to buy and we browsed till we were ready. This is a must try if you're anywhere near the area!

Disappointed that such an awesome curated offering had potentially closed up shop, it wasn't until a few weeks later when I was in Yountville and poking around after at tasting at the JCB Atelier and Tasting Room that I happened to find them not closed but relocated to a bigger and better space in Yountville with an expanded offering. Now full disclosure, I do think of Hunter//Gatherer as more of a women's store -- that's where most of their assortment is dedicated. That said, in the new space has really allowed them to expand their men's offerings to include an awesome set of curated goods. I find the new space to be super welcoming and a bit like exploring a museum of wonders where everything is for sale. I can't help but pick up something every time I wander in... which is not infrequently since it is right behind R+D Kitchen. I also have to say I really love the team -- in particular Colby. She's always apt to share an opinion and has equally steered me towards things that I wouldn't have expected and turned me away from others that I thought could be great but she pointed out why they just weren't "perfect" for me. She really knows her assortment and makes the extra effort to know you as a person to make sure she is making a recommendation that really makes sense. It's awesome to see people so knowledgeable about their stuff. Highly recommend.

When I entered the store, I was greeted warmly by the first cashier, who began helping me look at bracelets. I wanted to take my time browsing, but another employee interrupted and brought over a bracelet I hadn't expressed interest in. Before I knew it, she had already placed it on my wrist and was quoting different prices--first $12, then $16--while quickly directing me toward the register. When the bracelet rang up at $18, I asked for clarification because I had been told different prices. She explained that it was $16 plus tax and pointed to the POS screen, but her tone and manner came across as dismissive. At that point, I felt rushed and uncomfortable, so I completed the purchase and left. The store wasn't busy--there were only two customers, including me--so the rushed interaction felt unnecessary. While neither employee was openly rude, the overall experience lacked the basic warmth and attentiveness I expect as a customer. I always make an effort to be welcoming and respectful to everyone in our city, including those who work here, international visitors, expats, and members of the local community. That's why this interaction was particularly disheartening. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I won't be returning to this shop and can't recommend it to others.
