While visiting today I found samples of parmesan in a balsamic vinegar that was quite tasty. My main goal was to secure some bakery items for a party and while the selection looked a bit picked over, I had to remind myself that it was after 2 in the afternoon and the store had been open for quite a while at that point. After procuring a couple packs of loaf cake, we headed to the front though I unfortunately did not locate my favorite part of Metro Market: The Clearance Aisle! Hopefully I will find it next time. Sadly, despite the store being busy and bustling, only one grouping of self checkouts was open, which seemed short-sighted yet on brand for Metro Market.

They have a good selection of alcohol and I always find great deals on wine. They stand around chatting with each other, and barely notice that there are even customers around them. The grocery order pick up is a joke. There are always delays, it takes them HOURS to shop like 10 items. They have a phone number listed that you are supposed to call when you arrive, except no one answers that phone number. The worst part is, they are completely unapologetic for how horrible their service is. This department has one job: to receive orders, shop those orders, and have them ready when you arrive. They are unable to accomplish this task. I have lived all over the country, and I have never encountered such inept, oblivious, and unmotivated Walmart employees. Looks like it is back to Aldi for low price groceries. At least their employees greet you with a smile and know what they are doing. Ridiculous. Nilla Wafer Persian: For a grocery store bakery, I've been pretty impressed with the doughnuts at…read moremy local Meijer (although the selection is sadly wildly inconsistent). A Pershing/Persian is a doughnut that is similar to a cinnamon roll but is made with doughnut batter. Meijer has had a plethora of Persian varieties lately, with one of them featuring Nilla wafers. The surface of this pastry contains a lake of vanilla pudding with sweet cream cheese frosting bordering it like a beach. Three mini-Nilla wafers can be found within the pudding as the finishing touches. The cinnamon flavor of the pastry's body is sweet and relatively subtle with no uncomfortable burning/heat to it. Cinnamon granules can be seen in the dough after taking a few bites if you look closely enough. I found the dough to have a nice thick and chewy texture while also being light and pillowy. At first, I wasn't digging the texture of the pudding as I'm used to the whole thing being frosting, but it grew on me with each bite. How can a store of this size only have 1 full service checkout lane open when there is 8-9 carts deep? I looked over at the customer service are and there were 3 persons behind the desk, pull one or two out and support the full service check out.. lastly, in most aisles they were restocking shelves at 11 AM, this is what early AM is used for NOT mid morning on a weekend? I'm also not all that excited about the store and restaurant offerings given the hassle. It does look like they try to use the main space for movies, live streaming games, family nights, etc but we've never tried any of those out. There has been turnover of some stores/restaurants though so always something different to check out. I will say that it's nice to have free parking compared to some other similar mall concepts like this. All in all, good but not great.

In the summer there are free workout classes and yesterday we visited for the tree lighting that also features a drone show and appearances from Santa and Frozen's Elsa and Anna. My go to spots for shopping here are Madewell, Anthropologie, and Altar'd State. The LL Bean is also huge. Lots of parking options (although be aware it can sometimes get very busy) including a parking garage. Very walkable to everything the Corners has to offer
