This is a privately owned Sendisks and you can definitely tell. Most Saturday mornings, I am greeted with some cheese and wine. Then I walk a little more to find a variety of cheese samples with pairings like crackers or cherry jam. I loved the samples so much! It adds to the experience for sure. Anyways, I come here to get sourdough. It's only four bucks a loaf?!? It's so yummy, it never lasts. I love getting some honey-roasted peanut butter and blackberry jam from here, too. read more

I love this grocery store. I only wish I lived closer to it. First of all, the staff is always super friendly. In an age of self checkout, they have stayed the course by having not only humans behind the register but also bagging your groceries. They offer an incredible selection of cheeses and their meat department seems to along half the back of the store. The recent remodel of this area is also coming along nicely. Prices are maybe slightly higher than at other stores but they will definitely have what you need, so that is a trade off i am comfortable with. read more

Go to a different grocery store. They will sell you faulty products and then claim "that's how they are supposed to be" and will offer you no refund. The manager runs this store as if it doesn't run on customer support and loyalty. I am disgusted at the way he treated and spoke to me. If there were an option for 4 1/2 stars, that would be perfect! I love this store. I like the cleanliness and quality of products. I feel safe in the store. The fellow patrons and workers seem nice. The deli lunches are good and priced fairly. The only things I would improve would be to show in some way on the deli foods whether or not they are vegetarian (it's not always obvious). I feel like it's a bother to keep asking the workers since they are busy. Also, if I have a larger amount of groceries, I would love if the bag person would offer to bring it out and put it in my car for me (as was the way it worked at my old grocery store). We have been coming to Sendiks for the past 25+ years. They are a quality store with excellent produce, meats, cheeses, and deli. All the employees are friendly and very kind. It is to bad that some customers feel entitled and can treat the employees very rudely. As for price, they are very comparable to other stores. The owner takes pride in putting the customer first - always. I have read some of the lower starred ratings and wonder what axe those people needed to grind. Check the store out - once there you will not be disappointed, and if you are - they will make it right. read more

This is not a Red Bag Sendiks....though I keep wishing it was. Don't get me wrong; their selection of meats, cheese, seafood, produce, beer and wine are extensive, but I often feel like I can't find everything I need and have to go elsewhere to finish up my shopping. It is however a much better option than Pick 'N Save which seems to be everywhere out in this area. The prices are pretty much in line for the higher end grocery stores in the area. My favorite part of the store is their bakery dept. I have ordered many cupcakes from them for different parties and everyone loves them. read more

I'm currently in line at the deli for 30 minutes while 1 woman does all the work. I am number 70 and the numbers were at 62 when I got here. The manager Ryan told me there was nothing he could do as he turned his back on me and continued to straighten cans on the shelf instead of jumping in to help his employees. Only after I asked his name to add it to my review did he then ask for my phone number so he could talk to me about my review. I told him no thank you because he already told me there is nothing he can do. I can't believe a store I used to love has a manager who replied to me the way he did. NO COVID protections in place! For over 10 years I have been a loyal customer of Sendik's Fine Foods on Capitol Drive in Brookfield, WI. I went to Sendik's today to find that they have put in place new policies regarding COVID-19. NO employees were wearing face masks. They removed all plexiglass partitions at the checkouts. Every checkout was open. These decisions resulted in customers being forced to be ~2 feet from each other. Customers are also forced to be 3-4 feet distant and face-to-face with the checkout attendant (not wearing a mask). I called their customer support to inquire about these changes and was told the owner had made a conscious decision to make these changes. Clearly, Sendik's Fine Foods on Capitol Drive DOES NOT CARE ABOUT MY HEALTH!! Moving forward, I will find a new grocery store!! read more

My moms favorite place in the world and the only place she trusts enough to buy meat from. Their produce is always amazing and fresh. But I was disappointed in the floral department. I asked the lady to put together an assortment of flowers with a price range and she wasn't really any help. So I ended up picking my own and asked her to combine them. She couldn't have been more basic about it. Didn't try to add any ferns or little filler flowers. I asked her to cut them down to a vase length and she had them all sorts of different heights. Oh Sendik's how you confuse me... this Brookfield location is the first Sendik's I havce ever visited. Since changing jobs and not being near this location any more I have ventured into many other Sendik's to find that they are not created equal! This Sendik's has fancy gourmet store vibe. The main entrance has a huge bakery, then the best cheese selection - a walk-in cheese room! Heaven!!! And then the deli, here is where I feel in love. Carmel Apple Salad created on Fridays. The best blend of apples, pineapple in a pudding type mix w/chocolate covered peanuts and candy bar pieces w/a cherry! Addictive. Also, the Italian pasta salads are very good from the deli. And made to order sushi chef on site! Grocery has a great selection of gourmet type things. Their produce department shocked me when I venture in there and actually smelled hte produce while walking by! Wow, that does not happen at Pick N Save! Next to produce is this wonderful section of packaged candies, nuts and snack mixes. The chocolate section has many beautiful treats. Floral deparment is also great, with friendly people to help with a last minute gift. Samples are usually throught the store but there is one day where they have a full on sample day w/many things in every aisle. I found this by accident and need to see when they will do this again. I totally filled up on wonderful free samples. Like full ice cream cone samples, bakery, dips, snacks. Yum. Today when I told them there are no other Sendik's like this one they happily told me that the owners of this location are opening a 2nd one in Franklin on Drexel/Hwy 100 which is closer to my house. This a grocery store that specializes in produce, meat, wine and seafood. They have a good deli and fresh sushi as well. Their other food is like most other grocery stores however, their prices are higher. I like their service and you can get great information in their seafood and meat departments. They have real butchers who can give you advice and cut a piece of meat the way you want it. I'm willing to pay more for really good meat and produce and there are always sales especially on meat. They sell party platters which can make your next occasion a lot easier. read more

This is grocery store heaven. We take out of town visitors here for the experience. The best of everything. The walk-in cheese cooler is Wisconsin's premier. The bakery, and deli products are always fresh, delicious, and unusual. Find Altera, Starbucks, and other favorite beans across from the bakery -- also very fresh. The meat section has 4 to 6 butchers ready to cut your many choices to order at all times. The fish is the best in Milwaukee metro, and if that's not enough, Sendik's has a fish market in Whitefish Bay (other side of town, near the Lake) where you can get any kind of fish available in the Mid-west, and some that aren't. That's just the beginning. The wine store has knowledgeable staff, and the flower shop and produce -- well, you just have to wander around there for half an hour to take it all in. So, what's the downside? If all you need is a loaf of Wonder bread, a pack of bologna and a gallon of milk, you will pay less at your local grocer, but don't forget to set aside an hour, or two, for Sendik's each week. read more

Had shopped there frequently. Most of the store's service is solid; but had a couple of negative experiences with the wine department staff--capped with the hot-headed manager (Kurt) deciding to engage in a full-on argument and stating multiple times that "I made him very angry" by asking why he was marking up a bottle of hard to find bourbon 75% over list price. Apparently Kurt married into the operation, as he said that his brothers-in-law (the Balistreris) told him he should sell the booze for whatever he desired. Would recommend many merchants within a short drive over this place for larger wine selection, better pricing and far superior product knowledge and service. It's disturbing if the store owners believe that their brother-in-law and his poorly trained, rude staff are providing good customer service. Never a good idea to be condescending toward/argue with customers. read more

Um who needs to drive out to Whole Foods when you could stop here! Seriously. I can't remember why I thought of this place, but I did notice that this one isn't listed on the Sendik's webpage... Anyway, I love the little shopping plaza it is in! I was thrown off by the layout of the store... walking in and the first thing you see is the bakery with alcohol on the left. For a moment I wasn't sure what to do because you always come in to the produce section. Anyway, love the fresh breads and the variety. The bakery is wonderful and since it was early in the morning, I decided to try one of their cruellers. Delicious! They also have coffee, but since I didn't want to have to pay twice (the problem of not carrying cash), I didn't have any. The deli looks nice, there was no hot stuff out... it was about 8:45 a.m., but the other items looked delicious! They have a walk-in cheese cooler. I took a peak inside, but as there are very few cheeses I enjoy (and don't upset my stomach), I didn't purchase anything. They have a very nice selection of yogurts, including a couple of soy yogurts for lactards like myself. I noticed that they do not have an olive bar, which was a little surprising given the very... upscale feel to the store. They have a fresh, large (for stores in the Midwest) seafood area and they have a very nice meat section, including Chorizo, which I can only seem to find at Whole Foods. The butcher asked me (he had asked me earlier), "Are you sure I can't help you?" So I said, "Do you carry pig's cheeks?" And he smiled and said, "Unfortunately we don't, but we have been trying to get some in. The problem is that we would have to order 60 lbs and while we think we could sell them, if there was a demonstration in store on how to use them, other people are not convinced. You are the first person to ask, is there a particular dish you would like them for?" I just told him that I had them in the UK and every British cooking show seemed to be showcasing them and I just wanted to try making them. They have a lovely selection of Gelato in the frozen section and the produce section is just beautiful. They have all the items that I had been looking for and not found at the average stores... Rainbow Swiss Chard, Mustard Greens, they even had Daikon! I probably took a lot longer to get around the store because I was just taking it all in. I did not explore the alcohol section on this trip... mostly because I knew I was going to go over my budget and purchase things I didn't need... I always do that with a new, upscale grocery store. I just can't help myself. I love food and I love stores that foster that love. I will be back! read more

Upon seeing my struggle to get things on the belt to check out, BOTH the cashier and bagger stepped in to unload my entire cart. The bagger also carried all of my groceries to the car and packed them in my trunk. I shop here because they have a great wine selection, a fantastic deli, and a wide range of gluten free options, but today's service is unparalleled to any other grocer. Nice place except horrible customer service. The lanes to check out were so busy and I only had a few items so I went to the customer service area. The lady there said there must have been a mistake on the price label of the taco dip and refused to honor it. She said that it would be 'stealing' to give it to me. She also said there were 'some new people that didn't know what they were doing' which I thought was rude. I asked her to get a manager but instead she went to the deli clerks and I think berated them or tried to get them to change the price leaving me waiting for a good five minutes Sometimes stores mark things down that are getting old or that they are trying to get rid of so I thought that might be the case. When she came back I asked her again if she would get the manager and she finally reluctantly went. The manager on duty seemed to have no problem honoring it. She came back berating me some more saying I was 'stealing from the store' and before I walked out she said 'I hope you enjoy every last bite'. I have never had a more horrible customer service experience in my life! I have worked in the customer service industry for many years and would never even think to talk to a customer that way. Sendik's is already a very pricy store that I don't shop at often but I don't think I'll be going back because of this awful experience. A great environment for everyday grocery shopping. Much better quality than pick n save and even the red bad Sendik's. They have an extensive selection of meats, deli, seafood, bakery, produce, floral, grocery, and wine and spirits. Anything they don't have they will try to order in for you. The staff is almost all knowledgeable and so friendly. If you are looking for a grocery store that isn't dreadful to go into, and is even pleasant, Sendik's Fine Foods is your best bet. read more
