Convenient little grocery store on St. George Island, also known as the Blu Pig! It's not a full size grocery store but does have the basics like drinks, beer, wine, produce, bread, etc. There is a more full size Piggly Wiggly in Apalachicola (about 25 minutes away) if you need a little more complex items. Parking lot is often busy in the afternoon so just be patient, or come a little earlier in the morning. read more

For such a small store i am always amazed at the variety it offers. So happy to see so many sugar free options-thank you! The produce was fresh and the meat was decent. Very friendly staff. Prices weren't too terrible. Had everything I needed. Was slightly disappointed with the Deli dept. Mauled my American cheese and never cleaned the blade before she cut the cheese so had residue all over it. But over all it is the only grocery store on the Island and it serves the needs! read more

They sure do make great use of a not too large space. I went with a grocery list thinking I was going to have to be flexible but they had every item on the list. It was a great selection of everything we could think of and the even more surprising thing is that they were very reasonably priced on everything as well. $4 strawberries, $4 gallon of milk, $1 avocados etc. read more

Everything. Rudness, you buy $300 or more in groceries for them to tell you "we closed the bathroom down" literally everthing is overpriced. We live 2 hours away and come the SGI every year, multiple times a year, and they shut everything down that makes them stay alive. It's just a shitty place now. read more

Kudos to one of its staff named Dave (I hope I got his name right) he is such a kind, good hearted guy who helped us out of a car incident in a sizzling hot July afternoon. 9/1/2019: A place I describe as a quick pit-stop located directly on St George Island for competitively priced vehicle fuel with a full grocery store and deli inside. I filled up my car and purchased individual slices of hot pizza from the deli which happened to be a BOGO deal that day ($5!). Pizza was pretty darn good! They have everything you would need for your beach visit. The staff is super friendly and the store is located right on the main street as you come onto the island. Convenience is truly key here, period. read more

We will never stop for groceries on the mainland again. They have a great selection at mainland prices. Staff is friendly and engaging.

Today I biked there and went in to get a beverage. When I emerged, the bike had fallen over, and the handlebar went into into something sticky on the sidewalk, like melted ice cream. I asked for a napkin. The butcher/fishmonger got me a paper towel and saturated it with hand sanitizer. He had to go into the back to get it. It was such an act of human kindness, I really appreciated it. Once upon a time, this place sold bait, flip flops, fishing rods, popsicles, and tuna helper. Now it has steamed jumbo shrimp by the pound! Seasoned or unseasoned! Steak! Craft beers! Good fancy ice cream! Fresh produce that looks good, such as spinach and apples and onions and bell peppers!!! I give this three exclamation points because back in the day it was not easy to get decent fruit or vegetables or even milk on the island. It has gourmand type stuff and basic type stuff, like multiple fancy mustards, herbs, eggs, and half and half. It's a great upgrade for the island, you can put together a decent meal from here, or probably get whatever you forgot to bring from Atlanta. read more

When you are visiting a beach on an island, you can't expect to have your neighborhood discount grocer or big box retailer that satisfies all your needs... but if you need to pick up stuff you need for dinner in house that night, lunch fixins, or restock your beer or wine, this is the most convenient place to go. You could characterize this Piggly Wiggly as a hybrid of a convenience store and a grocery store...guess that is why they call it express. They have all the essentials like a convenience store, plus fresh produce and meat and seafood. Prices are only slightly more than the average price you'd pay if you drove all the way to Apalachicola to shop. read more

NOBODY WEARS MASKS! Not the staff or the customers. There is a bottle of sanitizer at the door but no social distancing whatsoever. One exception was an older cash register lady who, despite her attempts to wear a mask and protect others, is forced to risk her life daily for a pay check because no one else is taking this global pandemic seriously in this market she works in. Get your shopping done at a reasonable surrounding town before coming to SGI! Those eggs you forgot or a 6-pk is not worth a stop at this Covid cesspool. read more

Since I've never worked at Piggly Wiggly, I can honestly post this without bias. When this was the Market Place, the atmosphere was not a good one because of rude workers, etc. But then, Piggly Wiggly arrived in this location. To me, it's like a breath of fresh air. The workers are friendly and happy (you can tell when someone hates their job). The shelves are well stocked. They have a very impressive selection of craft beers, classic beers (eg: Budweiser, etc). The meat selection is top notch. They have whole organic chickens, lambchops, steaks, seafood, and more. Since this is island, it was a very clever to sell a wide vary of fishing equipment. Piggly Wiggly Express has everything a person needs to enjoy their vacation and never have to leave St. George Island. read more

This small place is a bit claustrophobic as you go up and down the aisles trying to find things. Nearly everything, if you can find it, costs more here than at the other pig in Apalach. It is convenient when you don't feel like driving across numerous bridges. The small deli/meat counter is handy. It is better than the other weird food store across the road. This area needs a real grocery store. read more

I had a flat tire outside the store today. The courteous cashier in the store saw my problem. He came out and changed my tire for me. I am elderly and have crooked fingers from bone density problems. The politeness of the workers in the store are really incredible. This is a very well managed store with hard working employees. read more

This is a great place for such a small space. I went looking for some fresh avocados and found them here. They sell Boars Head meats and specialty cheese. They even had goat cheese if you are into that kind of thing. I was surprised to find certain items such as these I would only find in a high end grocery store in the city or a farmers market. read more

They have so much more than I thought they would for what's basically an on-island convenience store. For folks who are complaining about the prices, you're paying for the convenience....hence "convenience" store. Conversely you can leave the island but the grocery stores nearby are not exactly what you may be used to if you live in a metropolitan area so why bother. This place is probably your best bet to find normal grocery or drug store items on the island. Apparently this is where the locals shop. We've had to stop in for a few items this week and they always had what we needed. Produce, meats, cookies, groceries, vinegar, peroxide, etc. Obviously you'll pay a little more, like everywhere else on the island, but it's not insane. It had a lot more than i expected, based on some of these previous reviews. read more
