But today The service was absolutely horrible, and I do not recommend this place at all. My little 4 years old donate her hair. This was the point for this Appoitmet. The scissors weren't even sharp, and the person cutting hair was completely unskilled. I've never been this upset in my entire life. She spent maybe five minutes on the haircut and then said, "I can't cut the bangs; your daughter isn't looking at me." I will never return to this horrible place. Let me start off with the fact that I have been taking my 5 year old here since he was 2. He's never like haircuts. He finds the whole experience overstimulating. We saw it as something we just had to get through. Although, previous people that have cut his hair before didn't do anything particularly wrong, the experience was always traumatic. Fast forward to today where he met Miss Rona. Although he was grumpy it was not at all traumatic for him. She is warm, funny and talented. After we left he said he wanted her to cut his hair forever. If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband and I have been taking our kids here for a few years now. It was never the best quality of service, but we'd go there for convenience since it was close to our house. Yesterday, some lady named Arlin did my daughter's haircut. From the start, you could tell she was in an irritable mood. I wanted my daughter's bangs trimmed and her hair trimmed to her shoulders. Not a complicated task and we had never had an issue with any of the other hairstylists not being able to do a cut as simple as that. Anyways, as she was working on my daughter's bangs, she asked if I liked the length or if I wanted them shorter. I honestly wasn't sure, so I asked "What do you suggest". Not an out of pocket question to ask a "hair stylist", in my opinion. She replied in the most dry tone "it's up to you". I let it go and decided on a length. She comments on the thickness of my daughter's hair and we have a laugh about it. My daughter's hair is thicker, but not THAT thick. The haircut is going on for a while at this point. Not once did I complain, and I wasn't planning on complaining either. She asks me to hold my daughter's head because my daughter was moving her head too much for her. I gladly agreed because I know that can be a bit frustrating. As she's doing that, she suggests that next time I book two appointments for my daughter because her hair is "too thick" and they only have 20minutes to do hair. I tell her we've never had that issue before and she continues saying that it's because my daughter's hair is too thick... Like I said before, my daughter's hair is not THAT thick and all the other stylists that have done her hair in the past have never had an issue doing her hair in a timely manner. I am absolutely not going to book two appointments and be charged for two appointments to do one child's hair, that's beyond insane. I would also like to note that the entire time we were there, only 1 other person showed up to get their haircut. So I'm not sure why she felt the need to finish her hair so quickly if no one else was waiting. After she suggested I book two appointments, I calmly told her we'd probably just go to another salon next time. And that was that. Again, not once did I complain about the time it was taking to do my daughter's hair. It had been about 25 minutes at this point. We continue for another 10-ish minutes and I can see her face getting visibly frustrated. She calls over to her manager to come over to us as if there's an issue. At that point I'm getting irritated because to me, she was making it seem like my 7 yr old daughter was an inconvenience to her because she couldn't figure out how to cut her hair properly. So at this point, I say "And why is it taking so long again?" And with such a nasty attitude, she said "Because her hair is too thick and I have to keep adjusting it so I need to talk to my manager about the two appointments". So her and I start going back and forth. Her manager comes over and she explains the situation to her in Spanish. The manager said nothing. As she's telling her, she has the slightest smirk on her face and I tell her it's not funny, to which she replied "I'm not laughing, that's just my smile on my face" or something along those lines. I was so heated by this point and couldn't even believe what was happening. She then said "I was suggesting that you book two appointments because of how thick her hair was" and I told her the way she went about it was all wrong and unprofessional. She denies it and has the nerve to look at the manager smiling. She finally says "I'm going to walk away because..." and mumbles some BS that I couldn't hear. Again, the manager was standing right there and did not say a word. I don't remember if it was before or after she walked away to the bathroom, but Arlin told me she was denying service to my 3 yr old son who was supposed to get his hair done after my daughter. I told her that was fine. Anyways, she went to the bathroom, and afterwards, she walked outside and was talking on her phone for the duration of my daughter's haircut. The manager took over my daughter's haircut and it took her like 3 minutes to finish it. She then did my son's haircut in like 5-10 minutes, no problem. The manager only said "I'm sorry" to me while doing my son's haircut and that's it. Didn't tell her employee anything once. She was nice, but nice isn't going to change the overall experience from her unprofessional worker. I was so angry, I was on the verge of tears but was trying my hardest to hold it together for my kids who already unfortunately had to be put in an uncomfortable situation because the hairstylist was incompetent and was in a f*cked up mood from the start. We ended up getting our money back thanks to the actual owner of the establishment, but needless to say, we will never be back. read more

Honestly, I'm not sure if they even deserve the 3 stars. We took our 3.5yr old daughter for her first haircut. Her hair was about neck length, if not a bit longer. I expressed to the stylist that it was her very first cut but that I didn't want it too short. I asked her to cut the bare minimum. She showed me how much she was going to cut (approx 1/2in), I said that's perfect. Well, let me start off by saying, she didn't even wet my daughter's hair before she started cutting away. She didn't part her hair to ensure it was even. I'm not a hair stylist but I've gotten my hair cut enough times within the last 35yr and it just looked like she didn't know what she was doing. I left there extremely disappointed and upset! But I held it together because I didn't want my 3.5yr old to feel my emotions and then question how she looked. But my husband knew right away that I wasn't happy with the outcome. Needless to say, don't take your kids here for their first haircut. Extremely unhappy with the service we experienced for my baby's first haircut. To begin with, the receptionists were not very welcoming upon arrival. When we sat with our baby on the chair to get his haircut, the stylist didn't introduce herself or make us feel welcome or reassuring for our baby's first haircut. While she was cutting his hair, it seemed very rushed and she was very insensitive to our baby shaking and crying throughout. Furthermore, upon inspecting the haircut at home we realized it wasn't cut evenly on both sides. We will not be returning to this location. We've been coming to this location since my son was 11 months old for his first haircut... we have never had any issues up until today. We usually request Yesenia but she was booked up for the weekend as I'm not surprised she's great! I made the idiot mistake of opting for "next available" cause my son needed a hair cut desperately, for it was in his face/it's been hot out etc. when booking I noted he was sensory sensitive, and that he gets over stimulated time to time, and I also choose to get an extra 20 minutes added due to that, so the stylist wouldn't have to rush. We arrived 10 minutes early, we were seen quick, a lady named Wendy, took us, off the bat just seems very dry and not very talkative, okay that's fine. We were very nice and my son jumped up pretty quickly, was doing fine with having some screen time, unfortunately the owner does not allow clients to have the WiFi password (for whatever reason) so the WiFi was super laggy and of course my toddler starts to get frustrated, for the most part he was still, he wiggled here and there, whined a bit... she was clearly frustrated and didn't care for my son. Man handling his head, in my opinion. Asking demandingly "can someone hold his hand" "can you have him look straight" I caught her huffing a couple times... I even apologized if we were in her way , we were trying to console our son, and she absolutely ignored me and said nothing. She put a clip on my sons hair, to hold the top of his hair up, he's clearly gonna be stressed about that, never has clips on his hair, he cried and yanked it off and she huffed and aggressively asked my husband to hold his hair "if he's gonna be taking the clip out I need someone to hold his hair out of the way" just absolutely over my son. She proceeded to use the edger behind his ear, the buzzing freaked him out and he was whining, she then literally cut my son's ear.. "looks like I cut him, sorry about that, y'all want a bandaid?" ... at that point I'm fuming and I cut the haircut short and just want my son out of her chair. I was practically in tears I was so frustrated. We paid and left. She said nothing to us.. I did not tip. I usually til about $20-$25... I know how my son can be, and since we've been coming there we've never had this issue. Not to mention, the haircut was HORRIBLE. Choppy, uneven, not what I asked at all even after showing her the photo... I will keep going only due to the fact this is the first issue we've had.. the front desk girl was very understanding and offered for the manager to cut my sons hair next time..if your child might squirm, or whine, do not go to Wendy. I recently went to have my sons hair cut at this location, the receptionist was not rude, but the hairdresser doing the haircut on my son was very rude and made me feel uncomfortable with her bad attitude. I asked her if she could do a surfer haircut? The first thing that came out was. "I don't know what you're talking about", so I very calmly showed her a photo , then I asked If she can just blow dry his hair after she finishes doing the haircut, in which she responded no that's not part of the service and I don't know if we have time, In which I responded, it's okay I'm willing to pay extra, then she said you have to ask the receptionist, in which I did, then the other employee doing a hair cut on another kids hair also said no I don't think we can do that, at the end they said yes, but with an attitude, I paid $42 dollars including a car toy my son wanted, my son wanted to play a little afterwards on the little train station they have, he kept talking about it before we were there, and he was excited to play after his hair cut, the employee started cleaning it because there was hair, in which I understand, but instead of her allowing to have my son play for few minutes, afterwards she didn't put the train tracks back, the employees were doing each others hair, and closed the salon during there lunch. For some reason, my son always cries at the Liberty Station branch, but not once did he cry at the one here in Chula Vista. So even if it's further out, we travel just to go to this location. My husband and I took our 8 month old daughter to get her first haircut today. We had been looking forward to the appointment all week and were excited for the experience. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the receptionist and one of the stylists. The welcome was very lukewarm, we were clearly excited as this was our first time, but they didn't return the enthusiasm. It wasn't rude, but also not friendly. After checking in, the stylist who was supposed to trim her bangs was waved over. I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe she was tired but I could tell by her body language as she was getting up that she was not in a joyful mood. Our stylist did not introduce herself or offer any recommendations. More importantly, she did not try to interact or play with our baby to warm her up, so she clearly began to get uneasy. Moving on, as soon as they sat our daughter down she started crying. I understand that screaming babies are not fun, but as a child's salon, I thought they would be better equipped to help calm them down. Our stylist was definitely patient, but beyond that, made no attempt to make this a more enjoyable experience for her. What we had thought was going to be a fun, memorable experience ended up being a stressful, unpleasant event. When it was finally over, no toys or stickers were offered as a reward which again, I assumed would be the case by coming to a child's hair salon. My Mom made an appointment 8/28 for my girls to have their haircut there. I tagged along with them. The vibe there was NOT what we expected for a KIDS haircut place. Evelyn was the stylist, she didn't have a kid friend attitude... very dry personality. She tried to have a conversation with my girls but they felt uncomfortable. After washing my youngest daughters hair and styling it on our own, 8/31 their Grandma called to state that her hair looks slanted. We did ask for it longer in the front but it's all choppy and uneven. She was told they are booked for the day. How extremely inconvenient. We will be going to get it fixed, hopefully! As her hair was cut short and I personally do not want it any shorter. As for returning to this establishment after, it's very doubtful. Horrible experience today, Wendy was our stylist and I don't think she enjoys working with kids or has any patience. This was my son's 2nd haircut and she was visibly annoyed by his crying. I always dread taking my son to this place for a haircut. There's always, ALWAYS a long wait time, and it doesn't matter if you're right on time, 5 minutes late, or a walk-in. You'll be sitting there waiting for at least 45 minutes. I have no complaints about the work they do, it's typical and priced cheaply for haircuts. The sign says walk ins welcome, after opening the door the receptionist said she had no time for us for the rest of the day (4 more hours). My daughter and I walked up to this place with my two toddlers age 1 & 3 and I wasn't sure if they were even open. The lights were pretty low and I couldn't see anyone inside. The sign outside said "we're open" so I gave the door a try and it opened. The woman at the front desk said they don't accept walk ins however they did have time to cut my son's hair. Another friendly woman came out from the back and kindly asked me to create a profile. As I started on that, my daughter took her brother over to the chairs to let him look around. My first reaction was to try to get my son to quickly choose a chair as he was obviously upsetting the stylist but as he continued to refuse to sit anywhere I realized this situation was definitely not right. THIS PLACE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A CHILDREN FOCUSED BUSINESS. This stone faced woman still hadn't said one syllable to any of us and looked like we had just inconvenienced her in the worst way. My daughter celebrated her 4th bday recently.. I made reservations for 8 little princesses on a busy Sunday at 1pm.. The straff were all so patient and accommodating. They were patient as we waited for kids to arrive, and did not rush us, no matter how busy they were. The girls LOVED getting their hair done that day. they each got to choose how they wanted to have their hair braided. The stylists all do an amazing job and are all great with the kids. After all the girls were done, they even took a picture of all the girls and offered to sing happy birthday to my daughter (unfortunately, my daughter wasn't in the mood at that moment for singing)... I would totally recommend bringing your little kids here whether it's for a cut or just a little girl time!.. They also have a play area in the back, TVs all around the salon playing movies, and more toys in the front to keep the kids entertained. I do recommend making reservations or calling ahead. Some days/times they're open and can take your child right away.. Other times, they're pretty busy and the wait can be long.. read more

The overall mood in the salon is pretty boring and depressive. The staff doesn't seem to be interested one bit in their job let alone making it an experience for the kids. Alejandra was not trying to engage with the kid, showed zero interest and lacked emotion. I couldn't believe we paid $25 for a trim that didn't take longer than 10 minutes (including braiding). That's insane! If you wanna charge that kind of amount and if you claim you're a place for kids - be more passionate about what you do and actually make this experience unforgettable for the youngest clients. Had an appointment booked with "Evelyn N." for 4:00pm, arrived at 3:59pm and wasn't offered to sit my child until 4:15pm, my child did not want to be sat right after waiting all that time and at 4:20pm she stated her next client was coming in for their hair cut at 4:30pm so she could no longer see my child. If she had seen my child at his appointment time this likely wouldn't have occurred - and it made us feel unwelcome because she waited 15 minutes to even offer a chair, but when he wouldn't sit when she called she didn't make the other client wait the 15 minutes she made us wait to begin with. If she was more welcoming and less rude, my child wouldn't have been scared to sit with her. Like lady, you cut children's hair for a living - you should know to be patient and kind and friendly... but no. Maybe go find a new job. read more
