I never buy new and am an avid thrift store shopper. But $2 Buck Books even boots Goodwill and Arc prices. Also, don't forget to stop by the back room for children's reads. The staff are very helpful if you're looking for a particular read. When I was there last, an employee (potentially owner or manager) took a walk in customer around the store to help them look for a title. I also happened to forget an item on the counter and called after I had gotten home. They said they had it on hold for me and were able to reunite my item to me upon returning to the store.

The shop is very cute, filled with books for just about anyone. We of course picked up a Peppa book and had a lovely little conversation with the woman who runs the store.
