I tried out the yoga which was offered by a virtual instructor. There were 3 instructors to represent different skill levels for reference. I felt great after the session! I signed up for a membership before I left. The facility is super clean, comfortable, and safe. Hotworx is open 24 hours so you can go to any of the virtual classes or simply sit in the sauna at times that work with your schedule. The hours referenced here are the times that there is someone working up front to show you the ropes (no pun intended) or answer questions. They were not super pushy with "selling" you on the membership. Give it a try. Worst case scenario you will get a beneficial infrared sauna session in!

I never thought that I would "enjoy" working out in any way, but I absolutely LOVE the workouts at Hotworx. Contrary to the feeling leaving other gyms where I feel not only self conscious, but completely exhausted, when I leave Hotworx, I feel rejuvenated and empowered. If you have not given the free trial a chance, I promise it is completely worth it and you will fall in love like I did!

I had their 1 year membership for $99 per month for about 2 years. I split my time between the 2…read moreCary locations because they were close to work and it was easy to go right after work. I enjoyed their 4:30 afternoon classes and some of their Saturday classes. Many Barre studios only give you access to one location, so I loved that they gave you access to multiple. They also had fun events to encourage you to work out more. They usually had different barre socks than the Kildare location, for $18 per pair. Their Pure Barre app made it easy to sign up or cancel classes too.

When I think of barre, I think of perky, petite young women gracefully poised beside it, doing…read morepliés and point... building up their slender legs to support and sustain them with an incredible combo of strength and flexibility. The workout trend Pure Barre is designed around getting that dancer body... But through totally different means! I'm talking dubstep. Blasting as girls place kickballs between their thighs, then squat, tuck, and tooch (to borrow a term coined by Miss Tyra). It's true: I never thought I'd be booty-tooching to Scrillex... outside the privacy of my own home. The workout started with some simple stretches and upper body routine, and some floor work in the form of plank and pushups. They only have dumbells in 2, 3, and 5 pounds. The short number of reps and low weight made this section of class completely un-challenging for me. But that disappointment was eased by the next part, where we stepped to the barre and focused on hips, thighs, and --as they like to delicately call it in Pure Barre-- "seat*." [*I don't have a seat. I have a bubbalicious boo-tay. Which is why I wanted to go to this class in the first place. So for clarification purposes in this review, my seat will instead be termed butt.] The most annoying thing for me was that the instructor demonstrated very few of the positions (perhaps due to lack of space on the barre); and it was difficult for me to follow her instructions some of the time. Many of the movements are so isolated, it's hard to look at a classmate and copy from what they're doing too. So parts of it did not feel tough... which left me wondering if I was doing the movement correctly. But other parts had my entire lower body shaking like a leaf, butt and quad muscles on fire. And I absolutely felt those muscles recovering the following 48 hours, so I know I did at least some of the things right! Class finished up with some ab work, which I also felt was too easy, and some finishing stretches. One hour flies by pretty quickly. And I can definitely see the appeal in a class that's shaped like this... getting all the core muscle groups into one workout. But I would personally prefer a class that focuses exclusively on the lower body, to round out my own exercise regimen and perhaps benefit my running as well. I did a drop-in class that was specially priced at $10; reasonable. (Their regular drop-in is $23.)

Club Pilates prides itself on taking advantage of deliberately misleading contract terms in order…read moreto prey on their members. They refused to process my cancellation on my desired membership cycle despite me giving 30 days advance notice, per their own contract. I gave my notice in a 31-day month, and they claimed it didn't meet the required notice period because it's measured in billing cycles rather than calendar days. This policy contradicts the contract and was never communicated elsewhere. I did not register for classes during the extra month for which I was charged, and I disputed the charge with my credit card company. Club Pilates responded by tacking on an additional $20 late payment fee and a $25 returned item fee. I won the dispute, but Club Pilates continues to harass me for payment and has since sent my account to collections. Some other internal policies I've discovered that appear nowhere in the contract or other communications: -They won't process a cancellation immediately after a membership pause (which itself requires a fee) -They won't process a membership downgrade and a cancellation in the same month (you must carry the downgraded membership for two months before cancelling) This is all part of a broader pattern of predatory membership practices: you're locked in for 3 months, subject to a 30-day cancellation policy they interpret however is least favorable to you, and treated as a revenue stream rather than a customer. They enforce unwritten rules on top of a contract already written entirely in their favor, then respond to any pushback with aggressive collection tactics. Why a pilates studio operates like a loan shark is beyond me. Stay far, far away. Even if you've read the contract thoroughly, the unwritten "gotchas" make it not worth your time or money. The same Area Manager runs the Apex and South Chapel Hill locations--avoid the whole franchise if you can, but especially these two.

From the beginning, I was unable to book a single class--every one was full, and I was placed on multiple waitlists but never admitted. I spent weeks trying to schedule, contacted the studio multiple times, and finally requested cancellation. Despite never being granted access to the service I paid for, Club Pilates refused to issue a refund and insisted on enforcing a $100 early termination fee. They even threatened late fees and third-party collections. Worse, I was repeatedly gaslighted--made to feel like I was at fault for not managing their flawed booking system, even after showing them screenshots and documentation that I had followed every step and tried multiple times to access classes. I expressed that I was pregnant and urgently needed reliable access to fitness classes, but they showed no flexibility or empathy. This is not a case of buyer's remorse--it's a case of a business taking money for a service they cannot deliver, then deflecting responsibility back onto the customer. Based on my experience and the number of similar complaints online, it's clear that this overbooking issue is a pattern, not an exception. I do not recommend this location. I have never before encountered this level of disregard for customer experience, lack of accountability, and manipulation. Being gaslighted into believing I was at fault--despite clear evidence that I followed every instruction and made multiple good-faith efforts to resolve the issue--was incredibly frustrating and disheartening.
