When I arrived, I said hello to the instructor, but she didn't acknowledge me. I assumed she may not have heard me and didn't think much of it. During class, she corrected my form, and I was doing my best to follow her guidance. However, she seemed to become frustrated and abruptly told me to "forget it" before moving on. The interaction drew attention from the person next to me, who laughed, which felt embarrassing and discouraging. As I left, I said goodbye and again received no acknowledgment. What made this especially disappointing is how much I genuinely enjoy Lagree and how excited I was to find a studio that fit so well into my schedule. I've taken countless group fitness classes over the years--including cycling, Pilates, yoga, barre, Barry's, and Orangetheory--and one of the things I value most is the sense of community and encouragement these environments typically create. In all that time, I've never had an experience quite like this. The workout itself was great, and the location is incredibly convenient, but the overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming and, at times, exclusionary.
