I started seeing Melonie 10 months ago due to a severe shoulder problem, chronic pain and very limited range of motion.

A special deal of "10-days for 10$" and so I signed that up and took a few classes. I got to experience Hatha with Kristi and Vinyasa 1/2 w/ Christina. Both excellent teachers and the studio is beautiful, clean, well managed, and the vibes are so relaxing and open. I attempted another class but it was full, but it's all good! Simply Yoga is worth checking out, had good price points and is remodeling their large studio to be and beyond! Go check this place out and get your Yoga ON!

I have not taken formal classes in many years, but have been doing yoga somewhat regularly virtually to Beth Shaw YogaFit, and I was able to fit right in with the class. There were 4 other people in the Hatha class with Kari and I loved the small class size. Kari was great. Having a "real, live" instructor really helps you to focus / relax much better than watching a video, and she really kept her eye on us and gently corrected our forms which was very positive for me. I had to email them because I had an issue with my account that was my own fault and they replied very quickly and wanted to make sure nothing got in the way of my returning before the kink got solved. I can't wait for the next class!

After our first session I already could feel the difference on my shoulders, Back, back and arms. Since she is also an Yoga instructor she showed me some exercises that I can practice at home to help relax my muscle and improve my posture. She has a flexible schedule which made easy to get an appointment. Highly recommend her as massage therapist and yoga instructor.

Thai massage was amazing. Kristi is very educated about anatomy and function and can really feel through her hands where tightness and weakness is even when I can't articulate it very well. The Massage really helped me keep functional range of motion. In Yoga Kristi was able to help me adapt positions as the arthritis got worse. I just had total hip replacement three weeks ago. I'm anxious to get back to Thai massage because i know it will help me get the hip extension I need to be able to get off my crutches!

I came to Melonie with an issue that had been ongoing for years and which doctors and PT hadn't…read moreeven successfully identified, let alone fixed. I was in intense pain daily, sometimes for days. I had severely limited my activities around it. Things as simple as walking, even. Structural Integration comes with a kind of rigid process, a price tag to match, and limited scientific evidence so it wasn't something I could really make the case for even a few years ago but I was at wits end and fed up with all the ways I was noticing this affected my life and I was largely out of options. And so, knowing all of that, I came to Melonie for Structural Integration. I have had a spectrum of medical and body work providers ranging from inept to expert. I am accustomed to reserving judgement and then being quick to part ways if I can confirm they are not a fit for me. There are practitioners who know what they were taught and only that. Then there are the really great practitioners who are able to apply the intricacies of what they were taught in ways that directly relate to the individual they are caring for to get results. Melonie is the latter. Expert, methodical, careful, knowledgeable and observant of the whole person. Every session, she honed in on exactly the things that needed attention and session over session, built on that progress. There were times during the process that were really vulnerable or painful and Melonie held space for that while maintaining forward progress. The end result of my series of structural integration sessions has so far been a much improved quality of life, more trust in my body, and more awareness of how my body moves and what supports it needs. Although I was improving over the course of the sessions, I have noticed continued improvements in the time following my last session. Aside from resolving my primary concern, it resolved issues I had no idea were related to/caused by the way my body was holding it's self. Very real resolutions that resulted in the ability to stop taking medication for a diagnosed issue that is just no longer there. I am so down in my soul relieved to have found something that works and brings sanity to my relationship with my body and I'm grateful to have landed on a practitioner I can depend on for help with this sort of thing.

He took the time to ask me about my personal fitness goals and gave me a detailed road map of how I would accomplish them. During the personal training session, he had me do some exercises that I normally don't do, nonetheless, it gave me a good idea of some exercises to do to increase anaerobic activity, core strength, and stability. After the work out he took the time to get to know me and I was able to get to know him too. Overall, he was very friendly, personable, and I highly recommend his services to anyone interested in personal training. So far, I have greatly enjoyed my membership with LA fitness. I appreciate that they are open an hour later on the weekend compared to other gyms in town. Also, the kids club is a huge plus for me as a single Dad. Best gym in town hands down and the staff is amazing! I honestly do not understand why anyone would want to go anywhere else. I worked out at Planet Fitness for years and wish I would have made the change years ago! The gym at LA is very clean and they do a great job keeping the sanitizing stations locked and loaded. The amenities cannot be matched and the variety of equipment is excellent. Lastly, and most importantly, the ladies look much better over here. Two thumbs up and 5 stars from the Galenator!!!

I was most disappointed in the workout room upstairs though. They have more classes than the East Vancouver location, but the room at the Hazel Dell location is half the size, and the A/C apparently hasn't been working for the past three months. They propped open the two doors and placed a single box fan at the entrance, but that's it. It got so incredibly hot and stuffy in there with all the bodies in the room. It's honestly a safety hazard and completely negligent on their part. Someone almost passed out during a previous class. How has it been three months and they still haven't fixed the A/C?!
