I have done Pilates for 5+ years and just moved to California so was looking for a new studio. These instructors are the least knowledgeable for any studio I've been to. They do not know how to modify for injuries, do not correct peoples form, are horrible at directing their clients into new positions so most of the time is wasted just getting into the position. And Alaina was incredibly rude to a client during the session in front of other clients. read more

Happy Update: It's been ten months since I started doing Pilates at Pilates Republic and I'm still loving it! Looking back to my first trial week and enduring my first full month, I never imagined I would stick to Pilates but Pilates Republic changed the game for me. Before working out here, I wasn't a huge fan of working out in group settings in fear of being judged. However, the instructors here are so encouraging and motivating that I overcame my fear of group workouts very quickly! All of the ladies I've met so far that workout here are so kind and make me feel incredibly welcomed. Pilates has made me feel confident, renewed, and empowered! All of the instructors at the Pilates Republic studio are warm, friendly, and professional. They are true experts, you really can't go wrong with choosing an instructor here! I personally attend Rachel Pena's classes because I find her to be innovative, inspiring, and makes working out fun. Wow just wow, this place is so clean and nice (design wise). The equipment is one of a kind, exclusive made for them from balanced body. Genius, the chair is built into the reformer. The flow, I had no idea you could fit that many exercises into 45min. In fact I was sorta bummed classes were only 45min. Courtney led a private class for my surprise bachelorette day with some of my closest girlfriends. As a Certified Pilates Reformer instructor, I can say with knowledge that Pilates Republic is TOP NOTCH. Seriously, I would give 6 stars if I could. I have been following the genius lady boss of Pilates Republic, Courtney Miller online and occasionally use her videos for inspiration when I am creating my own classes. So when I saw she was opening a studio at the same time I happened to be in the area (I live in San Francisco), I jumped on the chance to attend not one, but THREE classes! First off, let's talk about the machines. The reformers are unlike any other because they were specially designed by Courtney's knowledge and experience with reformer machines. Speaking of knowledge... let's talk about the classes. With different names like Heat, Empower, Align, Renew and Tone, Courtney has created a variety of energizing, challenging and super fun classes. Lastly, I cannot write a review without talking about her cute self too. Courtney Miler is the sweetest, most down to earth, friendly, booty kicking bad a** babe! She knows all things pilates. I came here during their opening special, and loved the classes from the beginning. It's a smaller studio in downtown Encinitas, but haven't really had any issues with parking. I love how the classes are really suited for any level, you can really make it however challenging you need. All the instructors have been very motivating. Courtney's classes are amazing! I left the studio knowing I was going to feel it in the best way possible. The reformer she designed herself so it is innovative and not like the traditional carriage and straps. I love it! You can do so much more and target many areas. I'm a person who benefits from reformer based Pilates and the different techniques are challenging, but fun. The studio isn't too large so you won't get lost in the numbers, she'll give you hands-on adjustments to make the most out of the movement.
