The heated mat Pilates class with Carla was both challenging and rewarding. She's an incredible instructor--super motivating, clear with her cues, and great at helping with form adjustments. i tried platesmith pilates via classpass for the first time, taking their Adv Athletic Pilates on Sat morning. Great ambiance, solid workout that works up a sweat and killer playlist. It is not a heated class, but can get pretty hot. I would def recommend checking them out. read more

I was excited to try this place, as I teach Lagree down the street and have been trying to incorporate more pilates into my routine. I took an intermediate class since I have a lot of reformer pilates experience, but wasn't sure if I could handle advanced based on the class description. I think I definitely would go to an advanced class next, as I'd like to be more challenged. The class flow was creative and different than other studios in the area I've tried. I really enjoyed the chair! Overall, I think it's worth checking out. I'm definitely intrigued by the hot mat pilates, too! read more

i saw the sign for this studio while I was driving down Washington and thought I'd check it out! I didn't realize that I would be attending class on the 2nd day since they've open so there was still some construction going on but the space was coming along nicely. The owner Jessica introduced herself to me and the rest of the staff were very kind and welcoming. The group workout room felt calming yet unique. I took the novice class which felt very 101 and is perfect for anyone with little to no pilates experience. I definitely look forward to attending a more advanced class and seeing the studio when it's complete! Pilatesmith is going to be a great addition to Culver City! read more

I tried the Heated Mat Pilates class with Tenaya and loved it! I was a little intimidated because I'd only done reformer pilates before, but the pace of the class was totally doable and Tenaya made us feel comfortable taking breaks/making modifications. The temperature of the class wasn't too hot, either. It's also a nice treat to be able to park for free and pop over to Menotti's afterwards :). Will definitely be coming back! read more

I took a HIIT class with Tenaya on Tuesday at 9:30am and it was amazing. The class was heated which made it an even better workout - but the best part was the movements Tenaya had us do. There were some I had never done before that were safe and really effective at working muscles I needed to work. The facilities are very nice and the front desk staff was friendly. I felt like the teacher didn't pay much attention to my technique or adjusted me personally, and I didn't feel like the workout was very challenging. I haven't been to the Santa Monica location, but I love that the Culver City studio offers Mat Pilates classes in addition to Reformer. I've taken the Int/Adv Mat Pilates twice now and was a big fan. It's not the hardest Pilates workout I've done, but I love the mix of exercises that target the entire body. I loved Linda's energy and her 7:30 am class is a great way to start the day. Kam was the instructor for the Intermediate Level class. She was friendly and sweet and her instruction was outstanding.
