The atmosphere of the studio was so cute and peaceful, and though it was a group class she gave everyone individual attention during each exercise to make sure it was being done correctly. So. Good. I attended my first ever Pilates class here and had absolutely no idea what to expect. I was a bit nervous and definitely needed extra guidance throughout the class, but our amazing instructor, Ky, was SO sweet and such a good teacher -- she made the entire experience just that much better. Super lively and upbeat, but most of all, supportive! The facilities are beautiful, the classes are challenging yet fun, and I'm inspired to make Pilates my entire personality now because I enjoyed it that much. If you're looking for a sign, this is it! I'm trying to get back into pilates after a couple years hiatus, so I've been trying a few different studios around the westside, but I definitely found my favorite one yesterday when I took my first class at Pilatesmith. The studio is bright and airy (and clean!), with the machines well spaced out and an individual mirror in front of each so you can check your form. I took the tempo class and it felt challenging but also manageable so I wasn't giving up and taking breaks every 5 minutes (like with most megareformer classes haha). The class overall had very chill vibes, from the music to the instructor, but you still feel like you're getting a workout. I can't wait to go back, just bought myself a pack of classes! read more

I've been to a lot of pilates studios and Pilatesmith is my absolute favorite. We had to move out of the neighborhood and I am devastated to no longer be close by. I started taking their classes and switched over to the prenatal classes more recently. I really looked forward to their classes and especially appreciate the community that the studio fosters. I have to say that I concur with several other users' reviews related to pricing. My wife and I joined Pilatesmith after attending a soft opening event in 2018 and immediately saw the benefits of pilates. We were offered "Founders Pricing," which meant we were to receive discounted rates for the lifetime of our membership. All went smoothly for the first 3 - 4 months until out of nowhere the owner Jessica decided she would no longer honor her commitment to the Founders Pricing and attempted to charge us full-price. When we reviewed the original pricing offered by Jessica with her, she essentially shrugged her shoulders as if to say, "Oh well." Needless to say, we cancelled our membership and have not been back since. It's too bad that other customers seem to be having similar pricing issues. The ownership and the business lack integrity--they will outright promise one thing to capture your business and then, at their convenience, utterly disregard it to your disadvantage. Update to the owner's response: There was no misunderstanding: we accepted your promotional rates on all classes at Pilatesmith. Additionally, I take some offense to the concept that you were, "helping us out," when in reality we were trying to help you out by signing up for a membership in the first place as a new business in our neighborhood. read more

Love Pilates Smith! Recently have taken Sundays with Tracy at 11am and she is an incredible teacher. Her choreography is challenging yet how she teaches is so calming. She pushes me every time and I appreciate her moment of gratitude at the end of class and music selections. This studio reminds me of nyc too. This studio is so great. I got the unlimited membership a few months back and it has been worth every penny. I joined primarily to deal with some pain issues as suggested by a physical therapist. I can totally feel the difference--it's like, my neck and back just don't hurt anymore?! I look and feel different and my clothes fit better. I have to say, I'm not a "fitness person" whatever that means, so if you're intimidated thinking Pilates in LA is not for you, don't be. I really appreciate that both students and instructors are a variety of body types. It's not about looking a certain way but how strong you can become and giving your best effort. It feels so good to notice over time how I am improving and hear encouragement from the instructors who notice, too. read more

I visited here for the first time last week as this studio was just added to classpass. Parking can be a bit tough on Main Street so need to take that into account and get there early. The studio is clean and all reformers/ equipment feels new. I took the heated class. LOVE that it's slightly dark as I hate how in most Pilates classes it's very bright/ fluorescent. The heated class is warm but definitely not so hot where you are slipping/ dripping sweat. read more

I went to the novice pilates class with Myra and I felt as if it was a really good workout - their beginner Pilates is definitely harder than others out there and I do recommend having some sort of previous experience before taking their novice class as I felt it was very fast paced. The only feedback I have for the studio is that our class was in the back room downstairs with no windows that I believe is used for the heated classes. This room isn't advertised or shown at least on ClassPass so I was expecting class to be in the advertised beautiful open area, but it was instead in the back room. I'm also not a fan of heated workout classes so I'm not sure if it was residual heat from previous classes but it did feel a bit stuffy. One other caveat (and it seems a previous review felt the same way as me and we were likely in the same class), but it felt very much so like an athletic military boot camp. Lots of aggressive yelling and strict tone and what felt like snapping at us. I don't think the instructor had any ill will but it was pretty off putting. I usually like to relax and focus on breath work during Pilates but this did not create the environment to do so. I would come back because I liked the workout but I see how her tone could make others feel very uncomfortable and belittled. read more

5 star pilates studio. Everyone was friendly and the studio was clean and had all amazing amenities. I appreciated that each reformer had it's own set of weights, bands, magic circles, etc. and even it's own mirror. This is definitely more "athletic" than traditional pilates, so be prepared to sweat and get your heart pumping! Highly recommend. Leave early to find street parking! read more
