Had a pleasant experience at this pit stop. Been driving from Utah and right when we walk in, we were immediately greeted. This convenient store has everything you could need from a wide array of snacks, bathrooms, a Subway, electronics, and even a shower/powder room. I appreciate that the restrooms were neatly maintained. Bonus points, the stalls don't have a wide crack as most bathrooms in the U.S, so you actually feel a sense of privacy. There are plenty of drinks you can choose from: coffee, Icee, soda, juice, smoothies. Neatly stacked are some creamers and cups. You can tell the employees take care of the place and often tidy up. You can also find some California souvenirs here by the Subway if you're ever stopping by. They do offer self checkout but also have actual cashiers if you need. Terrible service. They make you use self checkout. What's the point of a cashier? I stood in line to pay for gas, there were two cashiers. Each cashier just stood there. They did not greet me. I had cash in my hand ready to pay for gas. I stood there for about two minutes, and they pointed at the self check out register. I had to add my fuel pump, amount, and place my money into the machine. What is this? Why do I have to use self check out? I don't work for this establishment. Why have cashiers then? Fraud Alert. I stopped by this gas station at 11:24 AM on 10/15/23. I tried to use my credit card at the pump and it said to "pay inside". Stupidly, I allowed the criminal cashiers to put $40 on my credit card. I used $30 for gas and got the new receipt with the correct balance. The problem is that the two women working (one on cell phone) attempted to steal almost $200. My credit card was charged $40 plus $151. I have cancelled my credit card and will be filing criminal fraud charges against the two thieves who were behind the cash register at the Pilot Gas Station at 11:30 AM on 10/15. You know that most of your customers are driving from Vegas to LA or vice versa and will not return if they see a discrepancy. Nice criminal outfit you have there. Shame on you Pilot for not overseeing the corrupt individuals who work for your company. This is right across the 15 from the Barstow Outlets. Not that many pumps or they seem bunched together. Nice clean bathrooms and the employees are very nice. The main reason for this review, are the scam artists that set up shop here. The last 4 trips down I have seen the same 2 sets of people park at the pump and make up sob stories to get free gas or money. What was funny is another guy came over to me and said he saw the same person a couple weeks ago here. I let him know I saw him as well a month ago in my last trip. Another customer's card doesn't work inside and the worker blames it on the card, which would be easier to believe the f the other equipment wasn't so messed up. Stopped here late one night on the way back from Vegas. Was actually in the mood for a milkshake at the McDonalds behind it, but it was closed due to a remodel. It served it's purpose though for a quick rest break before heading back to SoCal. Bathrooms were cleaner that your average truck stop. Picked up some cookies and a slushy. Only one person working and it was busy for a Thursday late night so it took a little longer to check out, but they were as efficient as they could be. When driving along 395 N between Reno and Palm Desert, this Pilot Travel Center is a place I'm frequently inclined to stop. It's very well designed with lots of gas pumps and decent gas prices for this area. It's located next to all kinds of fast food joints and even has several located on the property. Because Pilot is an interesting store featuring all sorts of Trucker-friendly products, and because I'm usually in need of a break after 6-1/2 hours of driving, at which point I exhibit the brain power of a gerbil, I have made some flaky purchases at this store. My last find was a laptop power converter to use in my car's cigarette lighter. That set me back $30 and Krista E. rubbed salt in my wound when she told me I could have purchased the same thing online for $10. I'm sure with shipping it would have cost $15, but you can begin to appreciate the impulse buys that benefit Pilot if a nonshopper like me gets roped in by their over-priced and nicely displayed items. Cashiers are professional and friendly. They know their store well and give good info about their goods. I can always find Diet Dr. Pepper here, which is my go-to road-drink, and usually in both bottles and cans. But there are crapacino machines and every kind of flavored coffee too. The store sells fresh fruit, so I like to grab a banana, and tell myself I'm going to avoid all the snacks that are really bad for you. I try to close my eyes and not buy a Rice Krispies Treat, but 9 out of 10 times I can't help myself (I need a 12-step cereal bar addict's program!) Restrooms are fairly clean, and that's one reason I tend to stop here almost every trip through. The big negative is the very long lines at checkout. This place is making a ton of money, but be prepared for up to 5-minute waits to pay for your purchases. As you can see by the list of amenities offered at this location, Pilot has the whole travel store-gas station thing wired. Worse place. Was there the night of July 7th and was stabbed by a display knife that feel out of there unlocked display that should of been locked. The manager was horrible taken his time to get me something to clean my cut blood was dripping down my leg. Then he goes to do the report get my name address phone number then he wants my social security number wtf does he think I am a fool. I said good bye. I have been waiting for someone to call me and even ask if I am o.k no one has called me or anything. What a horrible company and place. The manager was a guy didn't even get his name he needa to be fired. I am just sp thankful my mom had my little girl she would of been next to me and that knife could of feel out and cut her toe off or worse. I will never go back here. Cleanliness is important, especially when traveling, it gives travelers confidence to stop, and while most Pilot Travel centers are well maintained this location is a model for the brand, it is always well stocked, it is always clean and most of all the staff is always friendly, We have stopped here in the middle of the day, early in the morning and the middle of the night and never have we had a bad experience. Gas is very reasonably priced for the area. Recommend Pilot travel Centers in general and this location specifically. read more

Staying in a nearby hotel for work. Get gas here occasionally. The facilities just look dirt and out dated. The gas pumps and concrete areas could use a good pressure washing and just spruced up. Hate giving poor reviews especially since I've been coming to this place for years even meet some of the ladies working at the register and they turned into good friends. I live in Las Vegas NV and always stop at this place for gas because they are clean, nice and good gas prices going and coming from Cali. Unfortunately I had a bad and a little upsetting experience this time and people should be aware of this since the DO NOT post this any where, and his was highly inconvenient over the holidays not knowing this and they had never done it before. But as you use a debt card to pay for gas here they put a hold of $150 dollars on top of what you get in gas. I had only got $12.56 in gas...later that night I went to balance my account with the receipt I had and discovered the hold on my account...but when I first looked at it it had looked like someone had used my info from my card to charge it $150...so called my bank and they said it was just a hold and I could call corporate to see if they would release it early. I tried to call corporate and they weren't around because guess what it was the holidays so I get screwed. It took 3 days before it was released! There should be some sort of sign by the pump letting customers know this. Because if that was the case I would've used cash and I will be from now on! read more

I did the math when I walked in an realized how much gas would get me home and handed the clerk 3 $20.00 bills for a total of $60.00 for gas today. When I got to the pump I saw on the screen that they only credited me for $40.00 When I asked for my additional $20.00 I was told no I did not give them $60.00. I requested the manager who took a few minutes. I explained the situation and I'm sure she was probably willing to check the cameras but at this point I was annoyed and it wasn't worth my time for the stupid $20 bucks to stand there for another 10 or 20 minutes. Can't really complain about this place. As you read, please realize how brutal the curve normally is for truck stops that are the only ones for miles. So, onto the sticky bathroom floors, pungent; nuclear-level toxic smells, and tagged walls that almost always accompanies the pot-bellied patrons into the hallowed doors ... ... wait, what? It's REALLY clean in here! Well, the front store is anyway. Lots of snacks & drinks of course - but an even better-than-normal selection; necessities are also plentiful to be sure. Cell phone supplies, iPod gear, and loads of little chotchkies for all of the fam back home, and maybe even an attempt at buying off some silence from the snot-driveling brats in the back seat. Well, let's take a walk towards the back and get the worst of this done, shall we? Inhale some clean air while you still can. Wow, showers! Nice. Bathrooms .... are .... wow. The cleanest I've seen from a truck stop. The cleaning log is filled out and up to date. Not the biggest of bathrooms, but really - a few more stalls in lieu of cleanliness would not be worth it. I've been several times; the only waiting times I've had for the restrooms wasn't an occupancy issue, but because the staff was cleaning them. Meanwhile, I need some fuel. Ugh - I just remembered that part about being the only major stop for gas in the foreseeable area. Time for some (kinda justifiable) price gouging! Wait - everytime I look up gas prices for this area, this station and the one across the street are the lowest in Barstow; period. That curve can be brutal. It should be. With that in mind, you'll definitely find some peace of mind each time you need to stopping at this Pilot J locale on that road trip of yours - and hey - if the toys and stuffed animals don't work for those bratty jackanapes, you'll know they'll be in good (and clean!) hands. read more

I was so disappointed when I came here on the way home from Vegas and saw that they no longer had a Dairy Queen inside. It was like they took away a piece of my childhood. I had so many fond memories of getting a blizzard and candy from pilot. It was a tradition to keep me quiet on that long drive. They did put in a F'Real machine though. Wow, that almost made up for it. You could pick which flavor (i.e. peanut butter cup, oreo) and make a blizzard of your own for under $3. The machine was fun to watch too! So, basically I would mostly stop here for gas and a clean restaurant. otherwise, there are plenty more choices in Barstow now. read more

If you read all the reviews, you will see that there is several common observances. So you got cheap gas, spacious clean bathrooms, plenty of drink and snack options, and a pretty decent Subway. Of course the number one reason for me is that it is 24 hours and that includes the Subway! From all my multiple trips going back and forth from Vegas to Anaheim, I can tell you from all the other gas stations in Barstow, Pilot is the best out of all of them. As of this time I am proud to say I have become the Duke of this location simply because I always stop here for all my needs. Only reason why I didnt give them 5 stars is because all the good restaurants are on the other side of the freeway. Im not too much of a Subway guy. read more

Pilot Travel Center is my go-to pitstop location when driving between Nevada and California. Their convenience store is always stocked with quite the assortment of snacks and useful car items. Some of their snack items can be found on sale from time to time just as in a grocery store. There is a Subway restaurant connected to the store, so as soon as you walk in you are naturally greeted by that 'fresh subway smell'. This is a great gas and pee stop along the I-15. We stopped here instead of other gas station. It is cold outside. This is a great gas stop from Pilot. It has squeegy for you to clean your dirty windshield that is full of dead mosquitoes or bird poop. The outside lighting is very bright. Nice! Flying J is so awesome. The lady's bathroom inside Flying J is clean and warm. There is a fan that is on to blow out smelly air. The is a security camera watching as you walk toward the bathroom entrance. Cheap gas !! Clean building ...... A Subway that is almost normal ..... The Pilot service center in Barstow has reopened after a fire gutted the building almost a year ago. I always used the center because it is close to my home and the gas usually costs less than anywhere else. The place looks really nice on the inside now. Open - airy - clean. plenty of snack choices plenty of drink choices a nice little ice cream center it did not used to look this way ...... it was - dirty, dingy, nasty it may get that way again, but for now it looks super. The "middle" point for our trips to San Diego and back to Vegas. They're actually reasonably priced with gas compared to the more well known gas stations across the freeway but they have cleaner restrooms and if there (for some reason) is a longer than usual line, the guys are real nice and they'll open up the showers that have toilets that you can use to potty. AND, if you don't feel like dragging your "stuck in the car for 2 1/2 more hours" body through the desert heat or cold (depending what time of the year you go) they've got a subway 20 steps from the cashier at the gas station. My favorite stop going back and forth to Vegas. They have good gas prices, clean restrooms, showers ( if you ever need one), and lots of selections for snacks, soda, and coffee. Went to this Flying J travel center in Barstow today 11/12/2021 and tried to get gas. Swiped card and enter my zip code. Pump would not let me change my choice of gas. It was pre selected for premium gas at $1.00 per gallon. Put nozzle back on the gas pump, took it off of the holder again and now it would let me select the 87 octane for $1.00 less. Filled gas tank with 9.2 gallons @ $4.25/gallon for a total of $39. Put nozzle back and printed out my receipt for $39. Stayed there a few minutes, filled out out records, used the bathroom while wife stayed in the car. So we were there for about 10 minutes. When we got home my wife saw a email from the credit card company saying we were charged $151.00 at the pilot station 1/2 mile away across interstate I-15. We never even got within 1/2 mile of the Pilot gas station station. The email was sent at the same time I first swiped the credit card at the Flying J gas station so how could we be at the Pilot gas station. Our car only holds 20 gallons so how could we get close to $151 of gas would be 36 gallons of gas? Some kind of scam is going on at this gas station. If you do stop here keep your receipt and keep an eye on the credit card statement. read more

I stopped here to do laundry. The laundry room, while small, was very clean. Prices ($2.25 per wash and $2.25 for 45 minutes of dryer time) were not unreasonable. My clothes came out clean.
