My adorable welcome gift :-D
Amelia D.

I never saw myself writing a rave review for a dentist, but I was so happy with my experience today that I'm making a point of recommending Pilsen Smiles to everyone in the community (especially if you have dental anxiety like I do). I have trauma from dentistry in my childhood and so i don't go in as often as I should. But the moment I walked into the office I felt at ease. Everyone was sooooo friendly and nice. I had to bring my 3 year old daughter with me unexpectedly and they were really cool about it. They even gave her a special kids toothbrush at the end, which blew her mind she was so happy. I'll never see another dental hygienist ever again now that I've found Brianna! Dr. Brittany was also super nice and punctual, really sweet and informative. This is an incredible community gem and I noticed they have a really affordable annual membership option for people without insurance that includes 2 cleanings per year. So go get your teeth pampered! I'm incredibly grateful to have found Pilsen Smiles and will start taking my daughter here, too.

Tried Pilsen Smiles as my new dentist and was blown away! Amazing customer service and pricing, they also accept most PPO plans as well. Would highly recommend in the Pilsen area!

Pilsen Smiles... man oh man, how I love this place. I am, gasp, an anxious adult when it comes to dental care. I admit it, I messed up. I didn't take care of my teeth and I was terrified of going to the dentist. I didn't want to repeat the cycle, and have taken my 13 and 6 year old to a pediatric dentist every 6 months. I love that I can now have a family dentist because Pilsen Smiles has a small play area that keeps my 6 year old entertained during longer visits. They have embraced the change and love thejt new dentist! Patient? Yep. Friendly? Yep. Now me? I love that my dentist LISTENED to me and reminded me that this was normal. I now have been on a pman for the past year to love my smile again. The staff here are extremely thorough, constantly battling with my crappy insurance to get services covered. I love that they have later appts as well as Saturday slots. I have recommended this place to friends and family and they are also very pleased.

Little welcome gift (:

I don't even know where to begin, this was truly a 10/10 experience…read more I came in for an emergency dental visit, and they took me in immediately, no hassle, no runaround. Even though the office was clearly busy, I never once felt rushed or like just another patient on a list. The entire team was incredibly attentive and genuinely focused on making sure I was comfortable and okay. I ended up needing a crown, and they handled everything right then and there, no temporary fix, no waiting weeks for a crown. The fact that they were able to complete the entire procedure on the spot was impressive on its own, but what stood out even more was the quality of the work and the care behind it. Jackie and Dr. Rob were exceptional. They walked me through everything, made sure I felt at ease, and checked in constantly throughout the process. For something that could have been stressful, they made it seamless. I'm beyond grateful for the level of professionalism, efficiency, and compassion I experienced. Couldn't recommend them more. Thank you again! Ps: even got an eye mask and hand mask to relax later!

I had a mixed but ultimately negative experience with this provider and would not return…read more At my initial visit, there were some early concerns. The doctor repeatedly emphasized how busy he is, which came across as rushed and somewhat dismissive. Before proceeding with treatment (Botox for TMJ), I reached out via email and phone with specific questions, including a request for him to consult with my neurologist, which my neurologist recommended. I was told that the doctor deemed the consultation unnecessary and that he would address any questions at the time of the appointment. I was also told he was too busy to review my questions in advance. This made it difficult to feel fully informed or confident going into the procedure. I decided to pursue the procedure anyway. To his credit, during the procedure he did answer my questions and agreed to treat the requested area. However, at my two-week follow-up, I reported increased pain that had been impacting my ability to work and function. The doctor shared a story about another patient he described as someone who complains all the time. The story felt indirect but strongly implied that patient concerns like mine might be exaggerated. This made me feel uncomfortable and dismissed at a time when I was seeking support and clarity about worsening symptoms. Additionally, while in the waiting room, I observed another patient being questioned in a similarly dismissive tone when she asked for additional help post-treatment. This reinforced my concern about how patient concerns are handled in this practice. Overall, while the procedure itself was completed, the communication style, lack of responsiveness beforehand, and dismissive handling of post-procedure concerns made this a negative experience. I would encourage others to ask detailed questions in advance and consider whether this practice is a good fit for them. Long-term results of my treatment experience are yet to be determined, but I will not be returning due to the unprofessional manner in which the provider speaks about, and to, patients.

I used to dread going to the dentist, and I had a lot of anxiety around it, but he has completely eased that. Now I actually enjoy going because of him and his team. He goes above and beyond his role to make sure you're not only taken care of, but genuinely comfortable. You can tell he truly cares about you as a patient and as a person - not just as a number or a paycheck. As someone who has had severest of autoimmune disease issues and life altering anxiety a very long time, I've experienced both really great doctors and really disappointing ones. This is actually the first review I've ever left because I think it's important for people to understand the difference... and Dr. Dow is exactly what a doctor should be. I had been searching for a dentist for almost a year after moving to Chicago in 2023, and I'm so glad I didn't settle for anyone else. They are the absolute best. His team even calls after certain exams or procedures just to make sure I'm doing okay... which is honestly unheard of these days. If you're looking for a professional, highly skilled, and incredibly knowledgeable dentist, you've found the right place. And if you want someone who truly values you and your time and goes above and beyond for his patients, this is 100% your doctor. I'm genuinely excited to continue a lifelong partnership with Dr. Dow as my dentist--and you should absolutely do the same. Him and his team are unmatched!

Had the BEST experience at the Chicago Dental Studio in West Loop!!! Like many, I dread visiting…read morethe dentist for routine cleanings, but my experience here was stellar (and now, my teeth are too!). From start to finish, I felt taken care of by the entire team and was highly impressed by their warmth, transparency (re: insurance pricing), and keen insights on my dental health. Thank you to the wonderful Mel, Jacinta, and Dr. Bosworth for all your hard work and professionalism - I look forward to coming back!

It has taken me quite some time to reflect upon this before writing a review. The Chicago Dental…read moreStudio is a decent facility overall, but I could never in good conscience recommend seeking dental care here due to Dr. Bosworth. The first issue that occurred is when I had a dental procedure performed. After injecting lidocaine, it took some time for Dr. Bosworth to come back and check on me. During the beginning of the procedure, he left the room to see other patients and didn't return for almost an hour. At that point, the local anesthesia had worn off and I had to undergo another unnecessary painful injection. It is quite obvious that Dr. Bosworth was juggling multiple patients at one time. This seems to be to maximize profit rather than actually focusing on providing quality care to each individual at a time. This was a scheduled appointment and it is never acceptable for a patient to have a needle stuck in their mouth, and then be essentially ignored for an hour, and then have to be stuck again just due to the wait. The second and much more concerning issue was regarding a crown that was placed. I had a root canal performed years before. Dr. Bosworth placed a crown over this area. Several month's later, I started having pain. When I saw Dr. Bosworth, he assured me that could not be the case since I should have no sensation in the area with the nerve already removed. I mentioned this several additional times and each time Dr. Bosworth wrote me off and ignored my concerns. I came to find out that there may sometimes be accessory nerves that may remain after a root canal and could absolutely continue to cause pain. I mentioned this to Dr. Bosworth yet again and he essentially told me that this was not the case and that my pain was from something else. Fast forward to a year later and I saw a different dentist as the pain was getting worse. They performed imaging and confirmed I had an accessory nerve in place that was indeed infected. The infection was too significant and had been occurring for so long that they would not be able to drill through the crown and tooth to treat the infection. I ended up having to spend thousands of dollars and go through several painful procedures to have the tooth extracted, then months later have a post placed, and then ultimately have another crown placed. I was informed by my new care team that this all could have been avoided if the accessory nerve infection was treated initially. This is despite me laying out the exact diagnosis for Dr. Bosworth. It is concerning that he lacks this medical knowledge despite his training, and even more concerning that this is the case after his patient had handed him the exact diagnosis. The pain and cost that I sustained due to Dr. Bosoworth's negligence is something I will always regret. I should have never gone to this dentist. I can't change what happened, but I would like to warn anyone thinking of seeking dental care here.

This is the "Don't text your Ex" of Yelp reviews…read more I'd been meaning to find another dentist for a while, but life got in the way. At my last cleaning here there was a new dentist I'd never seen before. I mentioned to him that my teeth have shifted on top and bottom as I've gotten older (perfectly straight on the top 2 years ago, but now noticeably crooked) and asked what I could do to stop that. Dr. Daftary had alway tried to push Invisalign on me, but my husband had a truly terrible experience here with Invisalign so I did NOT want to start down that path. I specifically mentioned the shifting/crowding on my bottom teeth was pushing my top teeth out of alignment. He suggested a night guard and wrote me an order for it. I was told I could pick it up in two weeks. That's when the nightmare began. Long story short, this office lied to me, ran me around, wouldn't return my calls, kept telling me "one more week, one more week" until the day I said I wanted to cancel the order for the nightguard, and threatened to do a chargeback with my credit card, when SUDDENLY I got a call late in the afternoon, the same day they told me it would be another week, saying they had it for me at the office. It took two months from the time of order for me to get the night guard. I went to pick it up and it was for my top teeth only. I admit I was not really familiar with what a nightguard is, I assumed it was like a retainer you only wear at night. Of course, the dentist did not explain anything to me at the time. That's very typical for this office. How does this help my issue with all of teeth shifting? I told Dr. Daftary I was really unhappy with the lack of communication and patient care and really suspicious about how they suddenly got the nightguard the day I said I wanted to cancel it, after telling me earlier that day it would be another week or so. She talked around in circles in her usual fashion so I just took it and left, telling her I was done with her practice. Now I've had this nightguard for less than a month. I discovered after using it for a few days that it's actually two layers, a soft inner layer and a harder outer layer. This type of nightguard is usually prescribed for people who grind their teeth at night, which I do not. It's also the most expensive type. Aha! After putting this thing in and out of my mouth for about three weeks now, the walls of the soft inner layer have folded down and stuck to each other, making scratchy lumps that scrape against my gums when I put it in. I can't wear it without the inner layer because it's too loose on my teeth. I contacted Art of Modern Dentistry about this through their website and of course, got no response. I know from past experience they don't return phone calls, so now what? I paid almost $800 for this thing (after insurance) and it's clearly a cheap piece of $hit. I'm sure that has something to do with how they magically got it in hand in mere hours after I waited for two months. Since I can't wear my useless nightguard anyway, I have since gone to a much better dentist in the area for an Invisalign consult with a retainer afterward and I will be staying with them for all of my future dentistry needs. It was 100% better at this new dentist in every way, right from my first visit. My only consolation for having wasted another several hundred dollars at Art of Modern Dentistry is that I won't ever have to go there again. AND YOU SHOULD NOT EITHER!

I made my appointment for 9:30 and didn't get into a chair until 10:45!!! I am so glad I had a 2nd appointment booked for that day because after x-rays, I was handed the most doomsday scenario from Dr. Dalfrey. Who went on and on about how my bridge had failed and I needed implants and all this costly dental work that in no lifetime I would be able to pay for. A realistic dentist would have said: "Look, you need a lot of work to resolve this but you are only in town 2 weeks. Let's put you on antibiotics and tide you over until you can see your own dentist." There is no way I would have been able to have implants and crowns in a 2-week turnaround with factoring in healing time and a course of antibiotics! They even tried to sit me in the financial office to sign me up for a new line of credit to begin their $11,000 treatment plan. I was so panicked and scared, I could barely speak! The dentist even mentioned to me how she fell in love with Chicago because NY people were pretentious. Look, entitled to your opinion but no part of my diagnosis needed to hear that. Fortunately my girlfriend pulled me out of that dangerous situation and we went to my 2nd opinion local clinic dentist who gave me an entirely different and less doomsday scenario. She said she couldn't do anything restorative in my time frame and any dentist who offered to attempt it was a quack. The dentist at Modern Arts was condescending, paid no attention to me being in near tears, told me my bridge days were over (I had only gotten it 7 months ago) and that the ONLY correct treatment plan was several extractions and implants. Avoid chain dentists and their fancy offices. Get a 2nd opinion. Looking at similar reviews for this place, I can see that my harrowing experience is not unique to this place. I understand dentists need to make money and for all I know (vulnerable, desperate, uninformed), Dr. D's prognosis was perfectly accurate. I cannot say. But very few people are walking around these days with even $1,000 of emergency funds, let alone $11,000! The scare tactics were unnecessary and what drove me away. Honesty and transparency is fine. Frightening people is not.

Unfortunately because I put my health on hold to save money I actually developed a phobia of scheduling a cleaning for fear of what might be going on with my teeth! Fortunately I came across The Tilden Group while doing errands locally and scheduled a cleaning and x-rays because they were running a new patient special that made the visit extremely affordable especially because I currently don't have dental or medical insurance. Taylor was extremely sweet and she prepared me for my x-rays then explained everything she saw on her screen. I was relieved to find out I didn't have any cavities or major issues and Dr. Zachary spent a lot of time giving my teeth a thorough deep cleaning without charging me extra. He used a solution from a streaming jet that cleaned my gums and targeted two years of plaque build-up. He then recommended I purchase a Burst electric toothbrush and showed me how to use it and proper flossing techniques. I felt extremely comfortable during the entire dental exam and I rescheduled a follow up cleaning in three months just to make sure I don't ignore my teeth and gums again. Highly recommend everyone here especially if you are someone who doesn't enjoy visiting the dentist!
