I've been coming here for years now and I'm definitely a fan, but what the hell, I'll give it 5 stars because, it's my go-to place and in my experience much cheaper than the dealer when it comes to repairs. Pros: - The service station (vice gas station) is very knowledgeable on Japanese imports - They seem pretty honest. In my experience, they told me all my options and allowed me to make a choice instead of assuming everything needed to be replaced. - the mechanics in the garage are meticulous and know there stuff [1] - KC is awesome! He is friendly and really knows his stuff [2] - Like most, if not all Sunocos, they have 4 grades of gas. [3] Cons: - Located behind Trader Joes, so a little difficult to spot. If it weren't for the big sign displaying the price, you might never know a gas station was there. - They could work on smiling more and making you feel like a valued customer. [1] I once asked for a wrench so I could tighten up a loose bolt on my battery terminal. The mechanic asked me what kind of car I had, which I thought was a bit odd, but it's because he wanted to give me the exact fitting wrench! He certainly knew his stuff. [2] the auto-tensioner on my timing belt snapped and my car died. The Honda dealership wanted to charge me for about the value of my car to replace everything (practically giving me a new engine). KC did the repair for half the cost by repairing only what he thought was damaged...the auto-tensioner and timing belt. The dealership wanted to give me a new values, but KC knew that the pistons in this interference engine, had notches etched into them so that the valves don't get smashed up when not operating in VTEC mode. Immediately after getting it repaired, my Prelude felt a bit rough. He assured me that over time the belt would loosen up and run smoother. I'm happy to report it's exactly as he said, and my engine runs much smoother. [3] Their 3rd grade is 91 Oct. which is the equivalent of Premium gas elsewhere, so the gas is usually cheaper than across the street (which is different that what I wrote in my first review). read more

Drove up, service bay was empty, paid my $20, exam completed in 15 minutes. Failed initial exam because of one worn out tire. Manager explained I could come back after the tire was replaced, drive right up to the service bay, have the tech eyeball the new tire, and for $1 more the tech would issue the new inspection sticker - 5 minutes tops. Came back the following Saturday at 1:03 pm -- the tech had departed three minutes earlier. Manager said I could come back during regular weekday business hours 800 am - 500 pm. THE BAD: The next Monday, I got out of work early, rushed to the station, got there at 445 pm. The tech had placed a "last car" placard on the car in the service bay. I asked if he could take a few minutes to look at the new tire and issue the sticker, as the manager told me was possible. The tech was a complete jerk, repeating over and over "Last Car, Last Car, Last Car." I told him what the manager had told me - should only be a 5 minute task. Again, "Last Car, Last Car, Last Car." And then another tech chimed in to ask why I came at 445 - I said because I had to work, and left work early to catch them before their scheduled closing time of 5 pm. Got in a shouting match with that jerk too. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE ETHIC, like talking to stupid children. What could have taken 5 minutes and turned me into a happy, loyal customer turned into a shouting match with stubborn idiots. AVOID this location. Go somewhere else where they actually value their customers and provide decent service. read more

On a plus note car and you, should survive over here. Due to being behind the busy strip mall, there's less traffic over here. The area is known for its non driving folks. Best to be safe. That's why when here, I go with this station Is it cheap? Compared to other places in the area yes. They have 87, 89, and 91 octane. The pumps have plenty of room, and cleanliness is quite good. As a loyal customer I want to support a local business, I arrived with a simple task: renewing my state inspection sticker for my 2019 Impala, however, that turned into a $860.00 quote to complete repairs to clear a service code to pass my inspection. I went to Tysons Koons Chevy and purchased the part $51.00 and removed the old part, installed the new part in 5 min. with a pair of pliers. I highly suggest taking your business elsewhere. Before the new owner took over about 1 year ago, the place was a good, honest, family-owned business. Now all honesty and transparency is gone and the quality of service is terrible. My experience involved 2 of my vehicles and is described below: My Land Rover Discovery was having misfires as I confirmed with my OBD device and phone app. But I wanted a professional diagnostic and the owner of the Sunoco said their $10k diagnostic system would provide that for $140. I did the diagnostic and they showed me a list of codes on a piece of paper. Was a tiny bit more info than I already knew, but It was clear I needed to start with a basic tune-up ie plugs and coils. I asked if I could provide the Coils and they would provide plugs and do the service. That was the plan. In the meantime, I needed to get my old 4runner drivable, and it failed safety inspection there as there was a problem with the brakes, likely the master cylinder. I asked if I could provide them the part and they said yes, but of course the part is not warrantied by them. Understood. They installed the cylinder, and I drove away noticing the brakes were great again, but just around the corner, my EBrake light was coming in, specifically when I stopped quickly. I returned and showed the mechanic and owner and they only said I had a faulty part and should consider swapping the sensor from the old, and re-bleeding the brakes. They said there was nothing they could do because I brought in the part. What about ensuring they did the service properly?? They said it was done perfectly. I went home frustrated and looked closely and noticed there WAS NOT ENOUGH BRAKE FLUID IN THE CANISTER. THATS ALL IT WAS!! The owners said they are Master mechanics...What? They simply put Zero effort into the issue because I brought them the part, or they simply have no clue about diagnosing a simple problem. At that point, I wanted my Land Rover out of there and decided I did not want them to touch any of my vehicles ever again. I asked for my vehicle back and the owner said I had to wait to see if it was drivable as maybe they installed the plugs and it wasn't drivable. What? They didn't have the coils I was planning to provide and there is zero logic in doing this service until you have both. It was as if he was trying to hold my car there!! I said I would wait until the mechanic came in, but then an honest employee said to check and see if the new plugs had been opened. They had not, so they said I could have my car back. The diagnosis was $140 and I asked for the professional report/print out of all the trouble codes, and they did not have one. This is the diagnostic and they lost it!! What?? I simply said whatever just please give me my car and that I think I remembered the codes or had grabbed a photo of the codes...as I had this strange feeling they would lose it. They did. The owner and the mechanic are not Master technicians (the owner kept telling me this) and I highly suggest you steer clear of this place. I shouldn't even of paid for that $140 diagnostic as I never officially received one. But I paid anyway as I just wanted to be done with them and get my vehicle back. Had my vehicle towed in with a locked up rear drivers side wheel (got home from work and smoke was rolling off of it) they called me the same day and informed me it was ready.. they were 100 % honest and efficient with the repairs. they are my auto mechanic permanently now. They have done several repairs for me and are my go to for state safety and emissions testing. You cant go wrong with these people!!!! read more

I had a pretty bad experience trying to get my inspection done. There was only one car in the bay but it wasn't clear if I could wait or if they were not taking anymore customers. After waiting in what I thought was the designated spot and no staff member indicating anything (there was plenty of staff who just ignored me). I decided to park my car real quick and run in and ask. Well, another patron decided to block my car in while she went in to see if they were doing inspections. As shenanigans and arguing ensued, I tried to leave, but again my car was blocked into the parking spot. It was definitely like an episode of jerry springer that I did not want any part of. Finally I did a 30 point turn and managed to escape the Jerry Springer Sunoco. The whole experience without an inspection took 20 minutes to escape. read more

BEWARE of the shop mechanics and owner. The rudest manager I've seen by far and bad staff. DONT TRUST THEM. They are dishonest!!! Read their 1 star reviews for consistency. I took my car to get inspected here. Failed the brakes, stated on the photos. My mechanic who certified Hyundai mechanic confirmed if they really failed me on brakes. He said there's nothing wrong with the front brakes (see photos below) and the rear brakes is passed inspection, photos below. The mechanic told me that I needed front rotors replaced too. I went ahead and told my mechanic to replace all brakes. He resurfaced the rotors because they were still good. So I went back to the shop and showed them the front brakes. Didn't have the rear brakes but my mechanic sent me a photo of it. The manager was so rude and he was trying to insult me. He opened the door for me to get out of the shop. Said my car was a junk. Like that would upset me. Lol. I know my car is old. These people are very disrespectful, unprofessional, and immature (he's the unhappy heavy set guy. Feel free to try them at your own risk. For years, I had gone to this Sunoco for routine safety inspections and basic maintenance when it was located on West Street and I followed them to their new location in Pimmit Hills. While I had previously had a good experience, I have noticed that since new owners took over a few years ago the technicians had had always worked with have all left and unfortunately the quality of service has declined. I took one of my cars there for safety sticker and they insisted I needed to have my headlights "refinished" to pass. They looked fine to me but I reluctantly agreed only to learn that the car before me had been failed for the same frivolous reason. This seemed suspicious but I dismissed it as an unfortunate coincidence. I took another car in for safety sticker and this time they said it needed break work to pass. I had the work done and thought they had flushed/replaced the fluid during the job. When I got the car serviced elsewhere six months later, the break fluid was old and contaminated after just 7,000 miles. It seems like it had not been replaced. I suspect the new ownership is cutting corners to make a buck so I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

I took my brother's van to be inspected today and Russell, who's a bit gruff but a wonderful expert at his job, got me in and out in a short time. He even needed to replace a bulb in order to pass inspection, and was able to figure out the car had already passed emissions testing. STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY. My experience with the new management. I had my sons Acura towed there, would not start. I suspected starter, which they confirmed and also told me the battery needed to be replaced. I thought this was odd, because the battery in car was two days old, just purchased from advanced auto in McLean. The service manager, told me "That the battery must be defective ". the total cost of repairs was quoted as $ 1,800, which I thought was high. I had car towed to another mechanic, which he replaced the starter for $600. The battery was not defective, and my son has been driving his car for the last week, with no start up issues. You choose, Dishonest or incompetent. i believe that since the new management has taken over, that they have implemented predatory practices, and that if your knowledge of vehicles is limited, that you will be taken advantage of. I had frequented this location for the past eight years, and previously, have had repairs performed on many vehicles, under previous management, very satisfied. this Sunoco was my go-to location for Gas, for the past 8 years. however, at this point, I would not even buy an air fresher from this location. please look at reviews from other platforms, Next-door, for example, you will see for yourself. I have seen many senior citizens frequent this location, and i do feel sorry for them. please be aware and make an educated decision, when you use any business. read more

Went in for a oil change and was done in 30-40 minutes. Lots of food locations in the area whole waiting. They made sure I got the right oil and even told me that my tires were getting bare and I should replace before the winter. They were very helpful and I will probably go again. read more

I have been servicing my Infiniti at Pimmit Hills Sunoco for the last 2 or 3 years. The work, when done, is good. However, their inspection process on servicing gets an "F." I take the car in regularly for oil change, inspection, etc. Last summer the car needed rear brakes replaced that cost me around $800. They hadn't checked the brakes on any of several inspections with the car on the rack. Recently, today, the car needed front ball joints, etc. costing me $900 plus another $450 for front tires and alignment. If Pimmit Hills Sunoco was doing their job in inspecting, these malfunctions would have been substantial less, hundreds vs. $1,500. Sorry, but I can't take my car there anymore and suggest if you do, make sure to tell them to CHECK EVERYTHING. read more

It helps to be an informed customer and get a second opinion if you think something sounds wrong or overpriced. Also, just talk to them! They're human and if you say you don't understand or don't think something is necessary, say so. I've had a very poor experience with this service station. In a past visit, I received a nasty note on my service check in sheet (note: this issue has since been raised to the company president and resolved). However, in reviewing my repair documents recently, I noticed a discrepancy that signifies they charged me for work they did not do. On my check in sheet, it is handwritten: "horn ground good". However, on my receipt, it is printed, "found bad ground at horn. repair ground horn...". As you may know, customers are not supposed to receive their check in sheets (these are for internal use), only their receipts. Given my poor experience with their customer service and the straight forward nature of these messages, I'm sadly led to believe that Pimmit Hills Sunoco lied about a problem and charged me without doing any repair work (since the problem didn't exist). To make matters worse, (1) my horn stopped working only after I had taken my car in for an inspection service here and (2) when having my horn checked, I also asked the station to repair my bumper (which was slightly popped at the side). They pushed my bumper back in (something I'm perfectly capable of doing myself for free), which promptly popped back out two weeks later. I took my car to another repair shop a few months later and they drilled my bumper in (for free and in minutes!); after a year of wear and tear, the bumper has not popped out. How did this solution escape Pimmit Hills Sunoco? And why was I charged over $55 for non-existent/shoddy work? While the president is kind, I cannot say anything good for this company's integrity, work quality, or how it treats its customers. I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

But 5 minutes after picking up my car, it wouldn't start again. Turned out they hadn't reconnected all the cables after working on it...oops. For me this is a good place to do VA State inspection. No long wait, there is a small space inside with 3 chairs, newspapers (Wash Post & USA Today) and Toshiba LCD TV on the wall. I have always hated taking my car to get serviced. I have driven around with the light for the annual maintenance on my car on for months because I did not want to have to deal with the rude people at the dealership. Then I ran into Chris and his brother Kasey that own the Pimmit Hills Sunoco. I told them the make and model of my car and we set up a date. I dropped off my car on Monday evening, got a call mid day Tuesday with the status and a call Tuesday afternoon when it was done. When I take to the dealership, they always have to wait for parts or they are backed up so they need extra days. Not here! As promised, it was completed at price quoted, in the time stated and with no issues or concerns. Kasey called to tell me that I will need to get several items serviced in the next 3,000+ miles and tires have about 10K left on them. No pressure or hard sell. That is rare for me with getting my car fixed. Bottom line... looking for a place that will treat you fairly, respectfully and is extremely competitive on pricing, you can find it here! read more

I was in Tyson's Corner this evening for a networking event. Like any smart NOVAite, I hedged on bad traffic. Much to my surprise, traffic on 495 was light and I got there a half hour early. I needed gas and planned to wait until I returned to M-town and not pay the God-awful prices in Tyson's. But I decided to bite the bullet just to kill some time, went a ways down Rt. 7, spotted Sunoco and turned in.As noted, it's tucked back behind a shopping center. I have one of those cars that has a little extra vroom vroom and requires premium gas. But "premium gas" means 91 octane or higher, but virtually nobody provides 91 octane. It goes 87, 89, and jumps inexplicably to 93. But this Sunoco, they have 91 octane premium. So I got the right grade of gas for my car at the same price I'd pay in Manassas. I now know that I can get gas in the Tyson's Corner area and not feel like I'm getting hosed. HOORAY! read more

I have been taking my car to Kasey for years! A transplant from the Falls Church City Sunoco he has never disappointed me or given me the run around. Every time I have taken my car to the dealership, I get a list of items that "need" to be done. Kasey always gives it to me straight and ends up saving me boat loads of money. Most recently I took my car to the dealer because it was still under "warranty" for a check engine light. They told me I needed a laundry list of items. I took it to Kasey. Turned out to be a gas cap... Go figure... I'm not sure what Elizabeth K is saying. Before you get any work done the mechanics always have me sign a work order, and if additional work was needed they always call me first. Ignore any bad reviews you see here, they're obviously rate shoppers who are pi$$ed because they need to actually spend a little money to maintain their car and keep it safe for the road. Some time ago I took my car into this Sunoco - I was having trouble with rear lights. They told me I would need to replace both lighting housing and the estimate for parts and labor was $450. When I went in to pick up the car they said "good news, only one housing needed to be replaced." So I thought the cost should only be around $300. They then gave me a bill for over $600. I protested and they said the labor was more than anticipated. TOTAL RIPOFF!. They also did sloppy work. They broke the little light that illuminates the housing, they broke the tabs that kept the tail light in place, and jammed one of the break lights into the socket so that its very hard to remove. DO NOT GO HERE! I'm usually not one to write reviews, but in this case, I've had one too many negative experiences to NOT write anything. I started coming here primarily because it's walking distance from my apartment and convenient for me to drop off my car while it's being repaired. The first time I brought it in, my radiator had a leak and overheated. After getting a quote from another shop in Arlington to get the system replaced for $800, I called Sunoco and they quoted $700. Keep in mind I had no sense of what the norm was for this, but $700 was cheaper than $800, so I went with it. After this, they'd hooked me in and each and every time I've tried to go back, they have quoted outrageous prices for other repairs, where I've been able to get half the price from another garage. On one visit, I specifically asked them not to replace my air filter after they suggested it because I knew I could do it myself, but they did it anyway charging $35. When I (very politely) brought it to their attention, the guy that runs the garage, Casey, got testy and said "What do you want me to do, take the new one out and put the old one back in?" When I told him yes, he stormed off and removed it. $35 to replace an air filter is A LOT. Last week I brought it in for my safety inspection thinking it would have no issues, but sure enough they found two major issues, drive belts and boots needed to be replaced, totaling $460 plus failed my inspection. A friend called to clarify what drive belts actually had to be replaced, was told it was the power steering belt but they recommended all belts be replaced. With that information, I got a quote from another garage that quoted me $225 for the same repairs. Then, when I brought my car into that shop, I was told (and shown!) that the power steering belt was actually in perfect shape with no cracks whatsoever. The boots however were torn and did need to be replaced. I understand I'm a seemingly innocent female with limited funds and a target for garages like this, but I'm an informed consumer and this garage will not be getting a dime from me ever again. read more

This isn't a snack shop and if you have to be there any length of time, Peet's coffee is right around the corner, So is 7-Eleven if you want lots of junk food. I've been thinking for some time that I might need new tires. Cody said the front tires were so bad that he didn't even want me driving home. I have a 2011 Lexus and it was time for a brke flush, new filter, etc. I trust these people and Thanh is a fabulous mechanic. Also the carbon emission process is seamless. Usually I scoot on by but not always. IF THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR CAR it won't pass. read more

What makes this a 5 star review, is that by the time I got back to my computer to renew my car registration less than an hour later, the information had already been sent through to the DMV. It's doing the words "gas station" a disservice to call this place one. There are only two pumps that aren't covered (I think that's the first time I've ever seen that). Plus, I loved how the building says that they sell drinks and snacks inside; however, they have ONE cooler of drinks inside as well as ONE stand of chips. Go somewhere else. read more
