This has been the most disappointing hairstyle I have ever gotten. I went to a consultation the week before with one of the stylist and she said that what I want is doable. I ended up being scheduled with someone else because I was confident that no matter who I got, I would end up loving the results, unfortunately, that was not the case this time. Now when I showed up, I showed the hairstylist the video of the hair color that I wanted and explained to her that I understand that my hair won't look exactly like the video due to the girl having a shorter haircut , but I did say that I did want the raccoon tail. One side of the blonde is more gold than the other and she told me that I have to come back at the END of the service. As you can see it it's just a simple two tone hairstyle. Not to mention at the end of the service she did not blow out my hair but instead tried to style it curly because that's my natural hair, but it ended up looking really bad. I'm not sure how else I could've communicated to get the results I wanted. Yes, I should have told her that I wanted my hair to be blown out, but by this time I just wanted to leave. I did schedule an appointment to get the blonde piece in the front fixed but at this point, I think I'm gonna cancel and move on. The hair color itself is not bad whatsoever and I think she did great on the haircut! Unfortunately, the color is not what I asked for. Looking back the sectioning of the blonde isn't great either. One side of my hair has 2x more blonde than the other.This overall felt rushed. Not sure what I can do myself to fix my hair but I don't think I will be going back here for a color service for a long time and if I do it won't be with that stylist. EDIT: the response to this is ridiculous. Did you want me to say to the hairstylist "No, I'm not comfortable with you doing my hair because you have carpal tunnel" Why would I have a problem with that?! A poor job shouldn't be excused just because I said it was ok for her to do my hair even though she was having a flare up. It's not up to me to gauge if she was in proper condition to do my hair. I'm confused how that's falling on me. She could've easily canceled the hair appointment and all of this could've been avoided. Besides the blonde piece in the front that was gold, which I understood, she still did not follow what I asked. For $314 not including tip it would've been nice to have my hair done right. No offense to her, but why would you guys think I would trust her to fix it coming back a second time. For her to rush it again? Should I ask her if she's having a flare up and if she's going to be ok to do my hair? No thank you. read more

I called a few weeks ahead of when I wanted service and asked if they could do a 1920s / flapper-style faux bob on long straight 1A-type hair. They said, "Of course!" I got there and the stylist (Christina) asked for my inspo photos. She was fine with them and started curling my hair. When she was almost done curling, she stopped a coworker and said, "Have you ever done a faux-bob?" Coworker: "No, but I get the concept." Christina: "Same, but I wanted to see if you had to ask if you had any tips." Coworker: "Sorry, no." Christina then tried and struggled to do a faux bob. She eventually even asked me if I had had it done before and how it was done. I hadn't, but I suggested she try using a hair donut and cutting one end so she'd have an open cylinder to stuff hair in and then roll it. She liked that idea but she looked and the salon didn't have any. So she tried to improve on what she'd done. It was bad. She also kept telling me it wasn't going to look like the picture because my hair wasn't holding a curl. That's fine, but the end result was SO bad that it was barely holding by then end of 1 hour and 20 minutes (she previously told me she could do it in an hour). She asked me if it felt like it needed to be more secure in any places, and I pointed out the most obvious 4 spots. She secured things a little more, and it was still sloppy and loose, but I didn't want to get charged even more and her next appointment had already been waiting 20 minutes by then. So I said it was fine and paid (with a 20% tip) and left. A couple things: By 2 hours later and minimal movement on my part, it was barely holding together. It was getting looser and looser. I showed up to my bridal shower early to help set up, and my SIL, future SIL, and future MIL all looked at my hair and were like, "uuuh.... How much did you pay for that? Do you want to keep it like that?" It looked so bad and sloppy. I knew it wouldn't hold all night and hated how it looked; they all did too, and none of us are high-maintenance or picky. My SIL took the entire thing out and did a different kind of faux bob using a fancy head band in 30 minutes and it looked EXCELLENT and held up the whole night perfectly. So here are my questions to this salon: 1. Why in the world would Pin Curlz - a place that specializes in vintage styles - not know how to do a faux bob? 2. If you don't know how to do one, why would you tell a customer you *can* do it? 3. If you don't know how but told a customer you can do it, why wouldn't you LOOK UP HOW AND PRACTICE IT ON SOMEONE OR AT LEAST A WIG before hand? 4. You knew ahead of time and were reminded day-of that this was for *my own* bridal shower and still didn't care enough to make sure my hair looked good? Just "wing it" and hope for the best?? 5. You saw that my hair wasn't curling and didn't, I don't know, try a different heat setting or technique?? I've had my hair done professionally plenty of times and have NEVER had a stylist fail to be able to get it to hold a curl. I know my hair doesn't hold a curl easily. That's why I don't try to do it myself -- I ask the pros, and they have always (with you as the exception) been able to make it work. 6. Why doesn't a professional hair salon have hair donuts? They are an essential tool for many structural styles. 7. Why did *I* have to suggest the hair donut/netting idea? You were noticing that your initial idea / technique wasn't working and basically asking me what to do, and *I*, the customer, had to give you ideas on what to do?? I don't know how to do a faux bob; that's why I came to you, the pro! When I told you about the donut / netting, you were like, "Oh, that's a good idea." So you hadn't even heard of that technique before? Meaning you only looked up one way to do a faux bob and just hoped that would work out fine? You literally had to rewatch videos on the technique WHILE I WAS IN YOUR CHAIR. That's how unprepared you were. The level of unprofessionalism blew me away. I remained polite but was so so disappointed in your service and skills. Never coming here again and will recommend people stay away from you. read more

UNFAIR AND DECEPTIVE PRACTICES. First of all, the stylist who did my sister's hair did a horrific job. She ended up having to go to Chance Salon (10/10 recommend btw) to have her cut and color corrected. Three separate stylists at Chace commented on the atrocious job by Pin Curlz. Secondly, my sister called in to request a refund and spoke to the manager/salon owner who told my sister that due to their policies, they cannot give a refund because they have a policy where you have to return within 7 days to have your hair corrected. I searched their entire website and this is not stipulated ANYWHERE. Also, why would anyone want to return to the place who messed up their hair?! When my sister expressed that she would not be returning and already got her hair corrected, the manager told her that she isn't going to do anything because she is going on vacation. Here's where I jump into the equation. I am an operational manager for a notorious financial institution and I am WELL versed in business practices, specifically pertaining to merchant refunds. Not only was the manager's response unethical, but it was also ILLEGAL. In the state of Arizona, a merchant's return policy must be conspicuously posted. If no policy is posted, the consumer is entitled to a refund, and this does include services rendered. Hope the manager enjoys her vacation. I will be reporting their business practices to the BBB and the Federal Trade Commission. read more

I'm always looking for a salon that not only has awesome stylists but a hip atmosphere and cool alt vibe. If you're looking for the same, you MUST check out Pin Curlz!!! Located right off the 303 and in the same shopping center as Fry's (which means tons of parking), Pin Curlz is nestled right between Subway and Jim's and is super easy to find. I visited a week or so earlier just to touch base and set up an initial appointment. I believe the owner/manager was working the front desk that afternoon, and she was super nice and friendly. She navigated all my questions and was very knowledgeable about her stylists and their specialties. Their website also made it easy to pick a stylist even before my walk in. Their site had all the stylists listed with a short bio as well as links to their work (mostly on Instagram). It was nice to have all of that info at my fingertips to make an informed decision even before stepping inside the salon. I chose Jessica based on a cut she did on another stylist at the salon (love me a good Bob and Bettie Bangs). She was very nice, easy to talk to and gave me precisely what I asked for. As a military family member who moves around frequently, I'm always apprehensive when working with a new stylist. Jessica put me immediately at ease. I've tried to give this place a chance. But every time I have come has been subpar. This last experience was to egregious to not finally say something. My hair looked so awful after my cut i literally ran to my car and cried. I asked for a butterfly cut face framing layers and a side part. I told the stylist multiple times through how my texture is and what I wanted to do to compensate for that and it was disregarded. This was literally the worst hair cut of my life. It's so choppy and doesn't lay right. I didn't even get to truly experience how awful it was until I blow dried it my self, cause this is the only salon that doesn't style the hair when they cut it. There no blending between "my face framing layers" if we can call it that. It's so choppy. My orginal layers were not touched up like I asked and my hair line wasn't even touched like I asked. The whole thing felt rushed even. I also at my rebooking made sure there was blow dry included and it wasn't. How can you as stylists even see if the cut falls right with out a blow dry. And I left with dye all over my forehead. Like way past my hair line. After this and previous subpar experiences i doubt I will ever be back. I now have to wear my hair as a Donald trump comb over to try and compensate for this hack job. If she was trying to provide the worst hair cut ever, she succeeded. read more

This was my first time here and I needed a color correction. I knew that I would have to have some hair cut off but this is crazy! My hair was down to my mid- low back area it's now at my shoulders!! I've never had my hair this short and I explained to the stylist that wanted my length! Also I requested an ombré with ashy brown. My hair is black!!! And no ombré! Highlights but no ombré! Poor business practice! I can't fault the stylist entirely but today's experience was absolutely uncalled for and should have been rectified before I left the building. I first went here at the end of May for a Brazilian Blowout. When I made the appt, I was told they begin at $150. Perfect, because I have short hair (to my chin / barely past it). My total did indeed come to $150. Thankfully I had cash on me that day because I wasn't told there would be a 3% transaction fee for using a card. Fast forward a few months. I made another appt for today (9/13) which was scheduled back in July, towards the end of the month. Again, I was told the service begins at $150. I checked out today to pay and was told $250. I immediately questioned it. I never ever would have scheduled the appt or come to today's appointment if it was going to be $100 (or more) than what I paid a few months prior. I asked for a manager... the stylist failed to bring one to me. I was trying to remain calm and not be one of "those" people so I kept my composure but I did say I feel the price I was told and paid before should be honored, especially since I came prepared with cash to pay for the service plus give a cash tip. I guess I was being given a favor because she dropped it to $200.... Thanks? She told me it said $250 in the system. I asked when the increases took place and wasn't answered. Just felt very sketchy to me. That'll be the last time I return which probably isn't a big deal to them. I'd like to think people would want repeat clientele, who pay cash, recommend the business / stylists to others, but I am learning that so many are now only thinking about TODAY and not caring much about future! read more

I love Ari!! I've been here three times now and every visit with her has been great. She always does such a good job and it's always such a pleasure getting my hair done with her. She also gives me such great advice with maintaining my curls and keeping my hair healthy. It helps that she also has curly hair like me! She also taught me how to use a diffuser and denman brush for some coils. She's really great at executing what I want while keeping the integrity of my hair in mind. I wanted a blonde balayage with some money pieces and layers and she did a great job doing that. My hair looks great and blended when it's straight and curly too! I visited for the very first time and they were very nice and professional. Although I did not like the end results. I got my first cut and was not happy and so went back for an undercut. I even took a picture of the cut I was aiming for. But it was a huge mistake going there. I can say that I will not be going back. Kalynn was very sweet and kind but I did not like my end results. She gave me a very uneven and horrible buzz cut using only clippers. There was no actual scissor technique used. No blending of hair. Just a buzz cut. I was really hoping to make this place my go to place since I just moved to this lovely city of Surprise. Response to owner: I beg to differ that I got the cut I came in for. I took a picture with me and my 'cut' looks nothing like it. The second stylist didn't look at my picture so I can't understand how they both can determine that I got the look I wanted.
