I just had some service done at this place again , changing my rear brakes. I do not have time normally to write reviews, but I felt compelled to do it. I was talking to John, who took the time to explain everything to me. He had the opportunity to take advantage of me and have me do extra work, but he never tried that. I asked him to see if my front brakes need changing as well, but he told me that it is too early and no need to spend the extra money. I was also concerned about the bearings of my lexus. He test drove the car and assured me that they are OK. The reason I started going here is because they are very honest and do not cheat like the places I have been to before. I am not from this country, we were on a family trip and my kid was asleep in the car. I just needed an oil change before our long drive back to Virginia and they had a cancellation which got me in and out in 20 minutes. That was just enough time to grab a small bite to eat at the Tim Hortons next door. Christine was really friendly and awesome for getting us in and out. They are amazing. Our RV radiator started leaking and we somehow found John, the owner, who came to our campground because he felt sorry for us and took out the radiator and took it somewhere and had it fixed the same day and installed it the next day. Our vacation wasn't ruined. He and his wife Kelly are just the nicest people. He is not even usually an RV person. Kelly even gave us a thank you gift card to Tim Hortons when we paid the very reasonable bill. I would absolutely recommend them for any work. read more

We got a flat tire while visiting from the States. Chose Pin Oak based on the positive Yelp reviews. Kelly and John were both exceedingly friendly and helpful. They didn't have the tire we needed but called around to several other businesses to help us find it. Kelly was also extremely honest and told us where to go to get the best prices -- and they didn't charge us a dime for their time and efforts! I wish they were in my hometown so I could bring my car here every time I have an issue. Untrustworthy, condescending, offensive and rude While I went to Pin Oak because of its rave reviews online, I wonder how many are true versus how many unhappy people in a small town remain quiet. The woman-friendly garage only exists if you are agreeable with every BS line delivered to you. I cannot for certain say the quality of work of all mechanics there as my limited experience brings me to deal with one and he's definitely a bad seed. One bad seed can ruin an entire business's reputation, especially if the owners/managers don't consider the fact their mechanic caused not one but two or three additional problems with a car. To infer that I was hearing things is like calling me delusional or infer I was lying about the condition of my vehicle prior to bringing it to you is an insult; it's ignorant and condescending. I had started writing this with the intention of excusing John's behaviour, as he was standing behind the quality of his mechanic, but the truth is he was completely wrong and the only lesson here is that, going forward, he should perhaps address issues with his mechanic before being so condescending and rude towards clientele - male or female. I respect loyalty but you best know who you are loyal to before you act a fool. If you think I didn't notice John rolling his eyes to his (whom I presume was) shop manager, after trying to convince me that it was me, making up in my mind, that the new intense vibration and noise in my car preexisted and, because one thing was fixed, I was only noticing it now. Feeding people such BS is extremely condescending. It doesn't help matters that I have been fighting a rare illness and fighting for my life for over 2 years, and John was aware that my life was extremely complicated. Additionally, I have no doubt that the mechanic who worked on my car saw my handicapped placard. While I may not appear disabled, as I hide it quite well, anyone who takes advantage of the disabled has a special place to attend in *ELL. My intelligence level far exceeds that of the average person. I have no need to allow others to take advantage of me because of my gender (yes, I'm a woman). So, here is the bottom line, going forward, perhaps, John and his staff should live by the claimed integrity and woman-friendly environment. I would not wish someone else to just pay for ongoing repairs that the snake of a mechanic, either intentionally or inadvertently, caused. May Pin Oak take this as my decline for giving them further opportunity, as the chance to make it right was passed up on a couple occasions already. The only "make it right" option at this point would be a refund. I do not feel the need to allow Pin Oak another chance to "repair," when they had the opportunity to twice before. While I do accept apologies, I do not expose myself to be bitten more than 3 times. I wish the staff all the best in life, health and endeavours, as I do for everyone. John may wish to cut out a snake, if I am to believe he isn't the head snake. ADDENDA: It was making a noise before it got there and is now undrivable since Pin Oak "repaired" it. Gee. Thanks. AND... Since when does one telephone message left for me, after John so kindly "escorted" me from the building, constitute reaching out multiple times." AND... John told me to my face that the motor mount was broken and that was what was causing the new vibration but that was not true either. I tried to have the mount fixed and I have in writing that there is no broken engine mount PERIOD. That cost me $50, for ummm NOTHING. Gee. Thanks, again. So, what else did Pin Oak fix on my car that was not necessary and had me pay for.... and then completely make it undrivable...? Hmm? As previously stated, the ONLY acceptable option at this point is a refund and that has not been offered; so, please, kindly, stop being so full of it, John, Mr. Woman-Friendly Garage. read more

I was driving from Buffalo to Toronto when my car overheated and steam billowed out from under the hood. John was leaving his shop but agreed to stay and look at my car. I had visions of needing a new engine, but it was a rather minor part. The catch--it was nearly 6:00pm and the part couldn't be found until the next day. John drove me to a couple of hotels and waited until he was sure I had a room. The next morning, Kelly sent Craig to come pick me up at the hotel and brought me back to the garage. The car was done by noon. The part had been replaced, diagnostics run, tires checked and filled, and a bad headlight replaced. The bill was well under what I had expected and the car runs better than when I purchased it. I have found "my" mechanic and will absolutely drive across the border for anything having to do with my car from now on. "Amazing" doesn't even do them justice!! read more
