I visited the store and it looks nothing like the pictures. The owner doesn't speak English. Everything in the store looks like it has a layer of grime on it. parking was impossible as a huge container takes up most of the space. if you're looking for something creepy things your place. palace, not so much. read more

My son is having a ninja themed birthday party so thought it would be fun to have a Ninja piñata bigger than him. I spoke to him earlier in the week and he later texted me that there was going to be 2 Ninjas coming in. I thought that was so nice of him and I asked him to hold it for me. He was very helpful so I'm glad I reached out. Sure enough when we picked it up on Saturday it was safely put on hold and he made sure I was the right person. He even gave us a goody bag to take home. Overall it was a pleasant and positive experience and our son LOVES his Ninja piñata! I read the bad reviews about the parking situation but I can see how the owner could be annoyed if time and time again non-customers are parking in his stalls when the parking situation is tight enough as it is. Two stars for the large variety of piñatas . All other party favors - napkins, plates, etc were priced just under $3 and only had 4-6 of the items. Most people throw large kids' parties so I would rather go to the Dollar Tree Store. Also the candy was not as varied as I would have liked. I did get the Spanish Game version of Chutes and Ladders. Employee was rude and kept discussing other previous customers while I tried to shop. Not a pleasant experience. read more

My family came in to buy some party supplies & we were thrown off by how this man talks to people in his parking lot. He seems bitter and unhappy, and we left without buying anything. This is east austin's answer to party pig. It has pinatas, although not as many as I expected. It has ropes, sticks and fillers. It also has plates and other party necessities. City search says there are language problems but I had none. My only warning is that the pinata we bought had wire in it while others we have bought did not. For some reason, every year the kids like to tear the pinata to pieces. A couple of the kids were cut by the wire which was a bummer. read more

I bought a piñata from the owner this morning and he was very helpful with suggestions for my purchase. I found him to be quite reasonable and asked him about the neg comments about his parking situation. He walked me outside and explained that his parking spaces bump up to the food trailer lot parking spaces. During busy times the food trailer customers assume they can park in his lot and can quickly take up all of his lot. He tries to explain this to violators but many refuse to understand his dilemma in spite of the many signs he has posted about customer parking only. I felt like he was not being unreasonable as a small business owner trying to make a buck in retail sales. I'd go back to shop there or to his new location when he moves to 7th street. read more

I'm new to pinatas, so I dont have the expertise to say this place was good OR bad. But PP DOES have a hell of a selection of pinatas.. some higher end, and some low end, but all in all, they have a good variety for both boys and girls. Prices seem to be $12-$30, depending on size. Yes you do have to cut the V in the back to fill the piñata, but my kids loved that part! We got the jumbo Angry Bird piñata, and it was very durable! The kids each got a good few whacks, and finally my birthday boy busted it open.. but ours held up to 10lbs of candy, came with a great hanger hook, and the stick for $2.99. Friendly customer service, and easy parking. $30 later... not including candy, my husband said "that was a GREAT IDEA!!!!".. So it was our first, but definitely NOT our last piñata. read more

My boyfriend and I pulled up to buy a piñata for a birthday party and when we parked, an employee immediately came outside to yell at us for parking there. We were looking at the piñatas displayed outside when he kept chastising us and pointing at the "no parking except for customers" sign. I explained to him that we were actually there to buy a piñata, he screamed at me, "don't even tell me that" and continued to shoo me away. I realize that I may not fit the ethnic profile of someone who would frequent this establishment, but the screaming was very upsetting. I went to Austin on a weekend trip- got carried away and bought a 3' tall teenage mutant ninja turtle. pinata. amazingly enough, it fit in the overhead bin of the airplane, and got us more than a few laughs when people would ask who the pinatas were for, and we not so sheepishly told them they were for us! they were Super cheap ($12.95) , and had such a variety of pinatas. next time i'm in austin, i'm getting super mario. :) read more

I actually called this place before going because I was afraid they would either tow or boot my car. The gentleman explained that people most often use their parking spaces for the food trucks or the convince store. He made an excellent point that his costumers should NOT have to walk a block to get to the store. I have 3 kids & it would be a hassle (and potentially unsafe) to walk a distance to get my piñata. He disclosed how much rent he pays for the place that comes with the parking spaces and he legit has a reason be to upset that non-customers are hogging the spaces for his business. I can appreciate him fighting for his business & his customers. The store had a massive amount of piñatas and my kids were pleased with variety. I did buy the piñata of our choice and it's a hefty sized one. I like that they do carry large sized piñatas. My only regret is that I didn't buy some Mexican candy. read more

I have to give at least 1 star, let's just start off with that. My entire experience was perfectly fine, until come Sunday, my sons 6th birthday, when I had scheduled a delivery to a park 1.3 miles away, consisting of 2 tables and 12 chairs, AND THEY DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TO SHOW UP OR EVEN CALL UNTIL ALMOST 3 HOURS AFTER THE PARTY. They were hardly apologetic when I came in for a refund. Unhappy overall. Will not be coming back. I recently turned 35, which is a pretty important milestone. Hope I don't have a mid-life crisis! LOL. But seriously folks, crossing such an important right of passage makes one wonder about so many things. Am I still physically attractive? Am I physically fit? Do I feel any loss of function or sensation? Have I achieved a level of success? Am I respected at work and in my industry? Do I have things to be ashamed of? I suppose we all do. Well, when one turns 35 you should throw a big party for yourself, which is exactly what I did. I am blessed to have a large loft apartment with a fun, clean, modern aesthetic and so I filled the place with lots of streamers and crepe paper decorations. the theme was "80's TV" - so there were posters of Erik Estrada and others around. Really fun. I also set up a "Build Your Own" sundae bar which was a hit, although a little messy. Next time I will not include blue Now and Laters as a topping. I think I could have gotten by with just red hots, candy corn, Sweet Tarts and the other standards. Anyway, the piñata. That's what this review is for, right? LOL. Well, 80's tv called for something unique so I found a Dora the Explorer piñata and fixed it up to look like Punky Brewster instead. People were literally falling on the floor laughing at that one. It was a great piñata and I got it for an excellent price, especially after comparing prices for the same thing online. The only slight complaint is how durable it was. It was extremely hard to break open and I will remind you that this party was mostly attended by my colleagues and co-workers who are overwhelmingly other middle aged men. One guest was an offensive linebacker for University Alabama and if it wasn't for him, I'm not sure we ever would have gotten it open. The other problem, which is entirely my fault and not the fault of Piñata Party Palace (which is why I'm not deducting any stars) is that I failed to realize the piñata does not come pre-filled with candy. As you can imagine, there was some disappointment from the guests on that one. Anyway, problem quickly averted. The "Build Your Own" sundae bar had plenty of candy and we just improvised and spread that around the floor. Disaster averted! read more

I'm not sure where the income is being derived from this place. Is it from the sale of party supplies or getting cars towed? If you go to Veracruz Natural Taco or Kerlin BBQ, I have no idea where you can park. If you park where there is not a sign to not park there, your car might still get towed. Good luck with the owner of the pinata place. He will feel sorry for you but if he truly felt sorry, would your car be towed? I have no idea if he is in cahoot with the towing company or what. 3 cars were towed in an hour based on what I saw. read more

She said she wanted to make sure the customers were happy. She exceed my expectations! She saved the day and the reputation of the piñata store. Ask for her for sure if you need anything custom made. Decorated finely, however because it is right downtown (DOWNTOWN AUSTIN), parking is scarce and so I understand the NEGATIVE COMMENTS STRICTLY ON THE PARKING, however it is IGNORANT TO RATE THIS PLACE ONE STAR JUST BECAUSE OF PARKING!!! taking away from its quality. I had one friend who came with me driving in her own car, as we are frequent customers, and I, lucky, found a parking spot right in front of the store however, she had to park ACROSS THE STREET! When I go inside there aren't more than a few people inside (no way all these cars parked right in front of the store are inside this store). Pass 30 minutes and the store got somewhat empty and yet there were cars in front of the store parked! Honestly ignorant of people not to understand what this business is going through FOR CRYING OUT LOUD THEY ARE BASICALLY DOWNTOWN!!!! People from the taco place always bothered to have to park across the street, but lets face it, you dont take 5 minutes just to eat and order. People are trying to do their jobs as an employee making sure the parking is clear for the businesses' customers or even their own trucks! God why aren't people more understanding. It's unfortunate that no stars isn't an option. The owner of this business is very rude. I'm usually all about shopping the small businesses but in this case, it's not worth it. Like many of the reviews have stated, he's very particular about his parking lot and I swear that the tow truck was parked there just ready to pounce. Even when the man who had parked there apologized for parking in spot that was not clearly marked for no parking, the wonder continued to be rude and tell the tow truck to tow him anyway, complaining that people "always tear down his signs for no parking" and he was not going to keep putting them up. DONT DO IT!! I rented the $99 Party package to be delivered to my house (inflatable, tables, chairs, pinata) and said I needed it to be there by 1pm. (Mistake #1) Gave my credit card over the phone. (Mistake #2). I wanted to make sure they were on time so I checked in at 11am to make sure everything was OK. Driver said it was OK. Called at noon, driver said he was running late & he'd be there at 1:30. I called again at 2:00...no answer. He called back at 3pm and by that time the burgers had been cooked and I was pissed. My twins 4th birthday was ruined in my eyes and the party so I cancelled it out of principle. But wait, there is more. Called the owner to complain and ask for a refund and he apologized and oddly told me that I would have to bring in my new Discover credit card that I used to reverse the charge. I didn't understand why since the transaction was made over the phone, but I went back anyway (Mistake #3). Went back, owner apologized again and I left. Now here is what compels me to write the review: This was a newly opened Discover Card and the only other transactions up to then was to bills, Austin Utilities, AT&T, and Pinata Palace. A week later, charges to my credit card were made to 3 different porn sites each deducting $30-$40 per month until I figured it out about 3 months later. Please learn from my mistakes! I'd never purchased a piñata before but I'm thrilled that I now know exactly where to go for a great deal, great selection, and fantastic customer service. George at the counter was super helpful giving me tips on where to cut the piñata to insert the candy, and he also gave me some background on the business and their suppliers. I noticed the hours posted on yelp say they're not open on the weekend which is why I waited until a weekday, but they ARE in fact open on Saturday and Sunday. I'm glad my husband talked me into buying a piñata instead of making one with papier-mâché. read more
