You never know what you might get at a strip mall Mexican restaurant. I enjoyed my lunch at Duenaz's. I had a chicken taco and a chicken tostada. Both were good and the meal came with Spanish rice and refried beans. Plus, free chips and salsa as an appetizer. That's pretty good for $4.99. A couple of odd items. The salsa came in two squeeze bottles and I wasn't quite sure if one was hot and the other mild or they just gave us two squeeze bottles. Plus, there was nothing to squeeze the salsa into. Some people were squeezing salsa on individual tortilla chips and some people squirted the salsa all over the basket of chips. I believe they just opened this past weekend. So, they still are probably working some things out. Give Duenaz's a try. read more

The smoked meats are so good and I love the enchilada sauce....sooooo yummy. But I have to say I was most surprised by how good the beans and rice on the side are! I usually don't get excited about those, but these are something I actually look the most forward to when I come here. Yes I'm going to do it! I'm giving this place a five star rating! Now I will admit that frequent disappointments with Mexican restaurant slightly influenced me but this is the most satisfying meal that I've had in a long time in this kind of establishment. I had fajitas and I walked away from the table full and satisfied. The service was very very good and quick. They probably need to do more with the interior as it looks suspiciously like half a dozen other places. But the food more than makes up for it. Since moving back Eastside from Arizona, I've struggled to find any Mexican food that is comparable. Pinatas, however, really hits the spot. I especially love their smoked chicken tacos, I get them every time. Great tasting food and awesome portion sizes for an affordable cost. Service is also really friendly and helpful. The food here was the best Mexican food I've had since I lived in Vegas. I was so happy I believe I had tears in my eyes by the end of the meal. This location is not too far from my house and I know the family has done well with previous restaurants so I wanted to give them a shot. It's pretty quiet when I have gone in for lunch. You get chips and either hot or mild salsa to start. I have tried their tacos, chili and jumbo burrito. All are solid. The staff are friendly overall. Not much to the decor but I got there to eat, not to stare at the walls. The chili is sweeter which doesn't bother me at all. I really liked the jumbo burrito. I could keep going back there. There are several other food options I would like to try. I have not been there for dinner yet but during lunchtime, there are very few people in there during the week so it's relatively quiet. This is a very unimpressive place from presentation, to the food itself. We have eaten at many Mexican restaurants in various states and in Mexico, but this food and the waitress understanding of the order was not good. For beverages we asked if they serve Horchata, and were told yes but we only have 1 left. So this meant they had 1 serving left to us. So my husband said he would have Jarritos soda. The response we received was , well I said we just have one and that is what you ordered. I told her no I wanted Horchata. With a face said "oh is that the milk stuff, yeah we do not have that. " Then we were brought a small plastic bowl of chips with two bottles of unmarked salsa. We thought the white cap meant mild, red cap, hot, so we tried the white cap first. It was so spicy we practically choked. Thought they mixed up caps, tried second it was even hotter. It is most unusual to serve 2 hot salsas. Not all Mexican food is spicy ,it depends on the region of Mexico the food is based on. The chips we small and appeared to be more of a scoop chip than the standard tortilla chip, served in a plastic red cereal bowl. Food came out, also on red plastic dishes. I had chicken tacos with rice and beans. The chicken was actually good, the rice and beans were from a can and tasted as such. When asked if I wanted lettuce, tomato and cheese on my tacos, I declined asking for cilantro and onion, and received a response Oh you want street tacos, Which if that is what you wish to call them fine, but it is Mexican whilst cheese, lettuce and tomato is American. When they arrived they had red onion as opposed to white, cilantro and cheese, but is was not Cotija, which is sometimes used it was shredded packaged cheese. My husband had the chicken enchiladas , we were both surprised to see brown sauce as opposed to traditional red sauce, it appeared to be far more gravy like than a sauce. Again the spice was overwhelming. Also something not traditional for enchiladas. Most of this food was far more Tex-Mex than Mexican. He actually ended up a bit on the ill side. As far as décor, it is in a strip mall, but we did not find that an issue, many places are due to cheap rent. The cheap plastic dishes is very tacky. But we can't recommend nor will return. Most of this food one could open up cans at home and make the same thing. read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place but I don't plan on returning. Taco Bell has better nachos. I had the corn and black bean nachos. The liquid cheese tastes like cheez-whiz from a jar, so gross, corn and black bean mix was okay, but nothing special. We got six tacos and a large order of nachos and paid over 14.00, going to stick with Taco Bell. If you're looking for authentic Mexican, this isn't it! Blagh. read more

Second time visiting since this place opened. It's beside a Sunoco gas station and not very visible from the road. The smoked meat had a metallic taste not sure that is normal. I enjoyed the burrito and guacamole despite of an off metallic taste. They did mess up our order but we didn't say anything. I would like to see this place become successful as we have no decent Mexican restaurants in the area. The second visit was a 3 star and a huge improvement from my first visit. read more

We were just passing through town and staying at the hotel across the parking lot from this wonderful restaurant. We decided to give this place a chance and that was a great idea. This is a little family run business and do a great job. The style of beans was thicker than we are used too, but they were delicious. My girlfriend ordered the smoked chicken, brisket and pulled pork street style tacos with rice and beans and she loved them. I had to brisket chimichanga with rice and beans. The chimichanga included beans inside which was a delicious combination. And the sauce on side was great for dipping in and pouring all over everything. I also ordered the nachos and cheese, this was very good. The standard chips and salsa was pretty good also. The salsa was a little hot but still tasted great. If I had to give downside to this place, it would no alcohol. But the staff was very friendly and always willing to help with anything anyone needed. It's a decent side place and I hope they do well. So we were craving some Mexican style food. Placed a to-go order on my lunch hour. Food was ready quickly. However, there was no plastic silverware. The food was bland and tasteless. Very, very basic. Their website is non-existent. They only accept cash. The order taker on the phone seemed like she was struggling. Overall- not impressed at all. This is the best addition to Kimball since we were blessed with, not one, but TWO Dollar Generals. Seriously though, Troy and his team are skilled at making some bomb Mexican food, and I love the smokehouse twist. I had the Black bean and Corn nachos and they were probably the best nachos I have ever had; and I'm somewhat of a nacho aficionado. The foods great, it's clean, the service is good and the prices are reasonable. Can't ask for anything more. You won't be disappointed. read more

This was my first time eating here and it will not be the last. The girl who helped me was patient and very accommodating, as I have some dietary restraints, and she pointed me in the right direction. I ended up going with the chimichanga with beans, rice and the spicy corn mixture inside and all the veggies they have on the side. Could have been a bit spicier, but the way they talked about the spiciness level beforehand had me thinking really hot; I'd say, from 1-10, ten being hottest, I'd give it a 6.5.
