Luckily, I've replaced pump motors before, so that was an easy repair I made myself.

I…read moreknew it was trashed, and needed to be replaced, but I was just too lazy to get around to it. I would much rather go to the smaller local guy instead of the big-box/big overhead/big mark-up guys, so reached out to Seminole Pool Supply, and gave my current motor and pump configuration to Alexis, who advised that they had a matching, rebuilt 1.5 hp pump on-hand for $115. She also told me that they do free bench testing if I were to bring in my old motor, and if it was salvageable then they would rebuild it for $65. Both prices sounded more than fair to me - with new motors running in excess of $350+ - so I yanked my old motor, and drove the 35 miles to Sanford. Totally worth it the effort, as it turns out... Upon arrival, I was greeted by Alexis and her team immediately got to work on the tear-down. But first, a side note about Alexis's eyes. Alexis has eyes of the most amazing blue. And those blue eyes, up close, are a celestial phenomenon: Nebulae as seen through telescopes; the light of unnamed stars diffused through dusts and elements and endlessness. Layers of light. Blue eyes that are like starlight. Sorry for the segue.. Back to the review! The investigation of my pool pump motor revealed that it was seized (I wasn't surprised), and that the motor was beyond economic repair. Bummer, right? Now the cool, customer-oriented part and why I'd MUCH rather go to the local folks: Alexis said that she was mistaken, and that they only had a rebuilt 2.0 hp motor, with no 1.5 hp motors in stock. I internally prepped myself for the inevitable song and dance about the impending up-charge... But Alexis and Seminole Pool Supply would honor the price quoted over the phone. Done deal! Their tech - a tall, good looking (no homo!) dude named Kevin - brought me my new (to me) motor, and passed along some sage advice on connecting it to power. Alexis took my money, and sent me on my way. I got home, connected the power, and everything was all good! My neighbors will like me again without the 100 decibel scream of my old pool pump, my pool can go back into service, and I can crack a beer and look back with pride on a job well done... Thank you, Seminole Pool Supply! *PRO TIP* - TURN ONTO SIDE-STREET LIKE AS IF YOU WERE GOING TO THE CHECKERS RESTAURANT, OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE THE TOOL-BOX CHUCKLE HEAD THAT ENDS UP PARKING IN THEIR FRONT YARD... like me. Don't be a tool-box chuckle head. :0(

Then they charged to send someone out to look at it, and he broke screws. Again not sure if they are internal or external as I was given 2 different stories the "tec" showed me external but office staff said internal. At any rate it is going to cost me $3500.00 to repair the pump

I have pictures and them saying the panel was installed by them. Then they blamed the issue on solar panels being installed after the pool was completed. The panel they installed had a loose hot wire and that caused a SHORT which back-feed power to the main circuit breaker panel on the side of the house and that caught on fire. I scheduled service in April 2025, and despite multiple confirmations, no one showed up -- not once, but twice. When I followed up, they admitted they forgot to log the repair. Seriously? After weeks of delays and zero accountability, my pool turned completely green and unusable. I've spent over $300 out of pocket trying to keep it under control with chemicals -- all because they couldn't be bothered to do their job. Then, after I left a polite but honest review, their rep told me they would no longer help and that I should call the manufacturer myself, saying they had "other things to do." They blamed their technician, the equipment, and even me -- anyone but themselves. This company clearly doesn't stand behind their work or care about customers once the sale is done. Avoid at all costs.
