I called to get a quote on some work that needed to be done on my pool and they called back rather quickly. I talked with Alex and he said next Monday or Wednesday he could come out. I was able to lock it down to midday Wednesday. Wednesday came and no one showed up or called. When I called them back they had no record of me. I regave them my information and they said they could come out next week again but could not give me a specific day even when I asked to lock down a day. How can you have yourself available any day of the week waiting on them to call. Not professional at all. Will not use them. read more

I highly recommend this specific Pinch A Penny in Riverview. I've used them for years to provide equipment repairs, install a new filter, install a solar heater, etc. Mike and Mark are exceptional. They explain the process and are honest in what can be delayed vs. needs to be immediately fixed. I also use their weekly pool cleaning service. Fred is courteous, on-time, and does an excellent job in keeping our pool clear all year long. The team that works at the store are knowledgeable, and the owners always friendly and happy to assist. I love this store. They have the parts and the knowledgeable people to help with any pool problems. Last year my timer stopped working so I visited the store on 301 where they sold me a new timer and walked me through the installation process that saved me over $100 in installation cost. read more

I did not have any intentions on leaving a review but happen to see stumble upon the ratings of this location when I was searching for the time they closed on Sunday. I felt it imperative to add my 2 cents as a regular customer who has been going to this location for over a year. When I first started coming to this location, I had a newly constructed pool that was handed over to me to start taking care of on my own (by choice-I hate spending extra money on things I can do myself). I must say, I am blown away at some of the reviews of fellow yelpers at this location. I'm not sure if they got the location correct. Everyone that I speak to is incredibly helpful. I'm not well versed in pool knowledge, and I always have tons of questions. There's a very friendly guy (his name escapes me) that is the pool guru there. You can tell his passion is pools. His knowledge spans past pool chemicals and equipment as we've had conversations about my pavers and my concerns cleaning the pavers around the pool. If you are going to bring pool water, they have a bottle they prefer you to bring it in as it will hold the required amount of water to run all the specified tests to give the customer a complete analysis. They use every drop of it. If you need a bottle, they are more than willing to supply it, and it's free! As a regular customer, the staff remember you, and I always feel welcomed. They have never made me feel dumb asking questions, and I know I've probably asked plenty. Without them teaching me how to maintain my pool, I'd be lost. read more

I have been coming to this store for 8 years (since my pool was installed). I tried a few other places during the first year but this was truly top notch. I can share countless positive experiences where they have gone above and beyond what is expected and what sets them apart from any other competitor I have been to. Every time you come to the store you are greeted by an employee who comes out to the car to get your chlorine jugs. While waiting for your chlorine you are checked out and asked if there is anything else you need and how the pool is. They have NEVER tried to simply sell me services or products just to make a sale. They always take the time to ask why I am purchasing something and have told me when I don't need something. I have had them out to my house twice and they were punctual and courteous. During one visit they determined what needed to be replaced but further question why it needed replacing, since the pool and filter were less than 2 years old. They determined there was a problem with the circuit breaker and I contacted an electrician who did in deed find and fix a major problem. Had they not questioned why the new part would have needed replacing again very soon. I truly appreciated them taking the time to question why and help me find a major problem. A dear friend went in to assist a neighbor. His neighbor was critically ill and her spouse was deployed. When he told them the situation they asked for the contact information and took care of everything. It was not what my friend was looking for he was willing to help but did not know much about her pool. They really stepped up and gave back to someone in need. read more

I rarely ever write reviews but this one is definitely worth a write. I brought in a water sample to have tested and the staff was very unfriendly. I was told that 4 oz of water was not enough. When I asked how much you need I was told more than that! I asked if they had any pool shock and was asked what do you mean? I looked at rating and thought they had good ones. I should have looked closer as the good rating were 2 years ago. This is a place to avoid. Shame a that apparently what used to be a good business apparently went down the tubes to a bad one because of their staff. read more

I have frequented this store for the past 11 years. There are at least 4 closer stores which I pass on the way but the service Paul, Leo and Evangeline and the rest of the staff provide me makes me continue to drive the 20 miles each way. I have never been given bad guidance nor been pressured to buy something I didn't need, but when I needed something they provided the information I in order for me to make a decision. The store is all about service to the customer and they shine. I recommend this store to anyone. read more

So I dropped off my pool cleaner because it stopped functioning. I was told it was under warranty. I was called 5 hours later and was told it was ready. I paid $20 bench labor and returned home only to find out that the unit was still not functioning. In fact it was doing the exact same thing. I took the unit back and waited for 2 days. I called and was told once again that the unit was under warranty and that my cost would not exceed $50. I explained that I just wanted the unit to work or for the unit to be replaced. I was asked if I had just put pavers in. I said no. The rep stated that there was a lot of grit in the unit. I do not understand what that had to do with anything. Isn't grit and dirt what the unit will find at the bottom of the pool? I waited 3 more days and called again and was told that they were waiting for the manufacturer to email them back. 3 days later and a little more perturbed I called again and was t ok old they were waiting for the manufacturer to email them back. I stated that I would appreciate a call from the manager or owner. Next day I called again and was told that they were waiting for the Manufacturer rep to email them back. A little more perturbed I was told that I was acting unreasonable and that I should not be raising my voice to the rep that I was speaking to. I stated I was at my wits end with this situation and the lack of communication from anyone on staff there as well as the lack of response from the owner or manager. I Al's stated at that time that I was not calling anymore being that every conversation with them was initiated by me and I need a call from the manager or owner. Much to my surprise this morning I received a call for an employee who explained to me that they were waiting for the manufacturer to email them back ARE YOU KIDDING ME. I asked why the manager had not called me back and she stated because she was. I then tried to explain to this employee that I did not care at this point if the unit was under warranty or not. I just wanted to have it fixed and I would pay. I was told that the warranty runs out in a week. I stated that this was irrelevant. Are you going to fix.. every time I started speaking bnb or asking a question I was cut off shut down talked over. She had no intention of hearing ANYTHING I had to say and evidently neither did the owner or manger. She hung up on me. I jumped in my truck and went to the store and was greeted by a young man and told him that I was there to pick up my pool cleaner. It was quite obvious that the condescending little girl was the one who handed it to him because she had nothing good to say and just continued to be a pompous butt head as I retreated not saying a word with cleaner in hand. HAVE A NICE DAY! Unbelievable! I took the cleaner to another pool store at 11AM. The cleaner was returned to me at 3PM. $10 dollars later it has been running perfectly. I tell this story because I entered the store originally with the expectation of them having a staff that could fix the cleaner but instead was ignored by staff and managers and owners. Treated with an attitude of indifference verbally abused robbed of $20 and close to 3 weeks of my life that I will never get back. WHY? I will never know. Nothing but good things to say about Leo, Angeline and their team. I hired Pinch A Penny years ago to replace my pool pump and filter that a local pool store/company installed for me. It turned out they used the wrong size pump and filter and my pool went green. The manufacture, Haywood came out verified the equipment was not properly sized. Well, "Pool Time" would not come back and replace it with the correct equipment. They called the factory representative an idiot and refused exchange the system or refund me. I called Leo at Pinch A Penny and not only did they install the correct system but did it for less than I had paid "Pool Time". Fast forward to today. I broke an electrical fitting coming off the rear of my pump. I called Leo and explained what I had done and asked when he could be out. While he was willing to put me on the priority list, he explained the piece that broke is a part that could be purchased at Lowes and explained it was an easy fix and suggested I would be able to replace it and save time and money. He gave me instructions and said if I didn't feel comfortable replacing the part call him back and he would come out. Well, I replaced it! The part cost me $2.99 and it took me fifteen minutes. Thanks to Leo I saved a minimum of $100.00, not many business's out there would do what Leo did, it was guaranteed money for him. Honest, Respectable, Customer Service Oriented business.
