Wow! This place is GREAT! We had an appointment for a private party/class for 8-9 ladies. The location is great. There is an ABM Parking lot right across the street from the East Curb line, $10 for 12hrs of parking, on a Saturday Night that is great for downtown. The staff here was Wyathe and Shelby. They were very good with teaching our group the ways to produce beautiful pottery. The class is $90/person and that includes the instructional 45mins class plus 1 pottery item. If you want to add more items, it's $10/additional item. With the time I had left I opted to do 1 additional item. This allowed me to form and create another small bowl to complete a set of 2. I plan to use them for individual rice and meat dishes at work lunch. Wonderful party, we were allowed to bring light Hor d'oevres and juices and water for the group. I really can't say enough about this amazing studio. I've always wanted to learn the skill of creating pottery, and after reading reviews and doing my own research, I'm so glad this is the first place I ever tried my hand at throwing clay. Came here for our anniversary and tried pottery for the first time. We went on a Tuesday so street parking was easy to find. For our class it was just my husband and I for the 5pm class with Anna Marie. She was so welcoming and knowledgeable. She went step by step with the process. She helped us when we finally got our hands on the clay. It was fun but difficult at first since I was a beginner. Anna Marie was so helpful and she didn't make us feel dumb. She was a great instructor! We had enough time to make three different clay models. I couldn't make a vase but made two matcha bowls & one cup. lol. We had a great time! Messy and fun trying something new. We can't wait to see the final product. It takes about 6 wks. Our instructor (Rachel) was fun and she was good about letting you choose your own level of how much help you needed to finish your piece. I found it pretty challenging to raise the sides of the bowl so I asked for a lot more help from my instructor than my husband did. I really appreciate that we weren't in a big class setting because I did require more hand holding. When you book the class, it's a private session regardless of whether it's a fully booked class or just two people for a very reasonable per person lesson fee, and that was my main reason for choosing to go with Pinch over other pottery studios. I've been meaning to add this in since last year unfortunately life happens. With that said, On July 14, my young adults surprised me with a private pottery class. This small business is very quaint. Upon entering Ms. Noelle greeted us with her upbeat professional demeanor and welcomed the four of us into the shop. She was very informative, detailed with instructions, gave us a tour around the business and the interacted with all of us during the class. It was fun. She has a lot of patience and was able to assist me to understand what I was doing and how to do it with the pottery because I needed that, lol. To be honest, I am not coordinated, but her patience was amazing. Although my young adults were able to master what she was teaching us immediately. To watch Ms. Noelle work the pottery with such elegance was nice to observe. She was very encouraging and I appreciate that. Since July, I took another group class with Ms. Noelle the instructor and I totally enjoyed it. I was able to complete the task better. I have also taken a single class with another instructor and the owner Ms. Wyeth, owner. Ms. Wyeth was patient, communicative, professional and shared some of her techniques with the class, this was also helpful. I will be back because I totally enjoyed it. I took another class in October and then again in November. I added a few photos, I'll add more once I take more classes. The first class was a gift from my children, the second and other classes I took were a great value for what you get to do there. The experience for me versus the cost was well worth it. The cutest little studio! I especially loved how homey everything and everyone was. You can really notice how much care they put into their space and their business. Their workshops are perfect for beginners! We popped in for a weekend wheel throwing lesson. You get to work with 3 batches of clay for 1.5 hours and pick out your favorite piece to get glazed, fired, and finished. Any additional pieces can be added on for $10. Super great value! Other workshops I've attended didn't give us nearly as much clay to work with. The workshop itself was very free form. Very minimal handholding. After they taught us the basics, we were free to explore and create. Of course, they did come to the rescue when things started to get a little wonky. I absolutely adored all the little touches they added to the experience. They even took cute polaroid photos of everyone for their wall! Will note that the time frame to pick up your finished pieces is a tad longer than you would expect: ~3-5 weeks. Was super surprised to see how much care and attention to detail they put into putting the finishing touches on your pieces. They clean up all the edges, glaze it with the most beautiful colors (LOVE their selection of pastels), and even engrave your initials on the bottom. Couldn't recommend them more! read more

I train people for a living and I can attest it is NOT EASY to teach adults a new skill. The team at Pinch does a great job- they make learning something new really fun, approachable, and digestible. They are ready to be as silly and low-fuss or as advanced as you want to push yourself to be. You can see by the photo...I was staying on the "let's just see what this becomes" path.) I found it meditative to do - there are a lot of repeat actions that start becoming pretty intuitive after a little while and having my little imperfect products kinda made my inner kid come out and remember the days of making "ashtrays" or whatever sorta bowl shaped things we were making in late 80s school. I highly recommend adding this to the social / group / bonding rotation of events. BTW - you don't take your product home with you, you leave it there for them to glaze...so it's kinda cool when you get it back it's a little bit of a surprise.
