    Splash pad for the kids.

Had a fantastic time here. Staff was friendly and helpful. We got a cabin high on the hill and a staff member said to be aware that because it's so out of the way, the neighbors can be a bit loud, but our neighbors were pleasant. Lots of activities daily for the kids to do. It never felt like it was crowded. Pool was kid friendly and there were signs posted everywhere about no diving or jumping into the pool, but we're always going to have Generation Me ignore that. No one expects the 15 year old to tell a portly 40 years old man that him and his equally portly kids can't have a jumping contest and land 2 feet away from the 2 year old trying to tread water. Our cabin was clean and had it's own fridge, grill and fire pit. Everyone respected quiet time except for our first night where some kids were ringing a bell and then began screaming at midnight. I was hoping the place was haunted at least it would explain it. The rest of the week went nice. Beds were not comfy at all, but I didn't expect it. What else I didn't expect was the bathrooms. They were very well kept and clean. Overall, we'd go back. Though I did find it odd for a family living in NH to go camping in MA.

So no one was driving by us while hanging outside all day and night. The dogs loved it and our neighbors were great to hang out with. Way out back there is a guy who sells fresh veggies and fruits from a farm. Delicious! Must go and find him on Saturdays. No fire out times and had activities during the holiday weekend. Band for free one night. Craft fair in the am. And a 9 hole "golf course" fine for me that hits a ball here and there. But still fun to get out and practice driving. Good would definitely stay here again. 45 min from door to door

The store is poorly stocked. No one answers the phone about issues at night time. Rowdy behavior long past quiet hours is routinely tolerated by management. In fact, the park goes so far as to organize loud "concerts" at the pool nearly every weekend until after 11. Drunk people drive golf carts recklessly. Unsupervised children bully others on the playground. The one thing the store definitely seems to stock is matches, which they sold to children, who then set fires in the woods. Oh and there have been numerous physical fights just this year, at least one resulting in someone being hospitalized. Stay here if you're looking for a wild crazy drunk weekend. If you're actually looking to have a relaxing camping experience or enjoying any time with your children, please look elsewhere.

First off, I read reviews that said its loud and I can say that yes on sat nights they do music and that is FOR the campground and the kids and adults have a blast but its NOT all night and once 11pm hits the music stops and campground is completely quiet and you really can only hear it where I am , near the field . And I have not found it to be abnoxiously loud any other time. ITS A CAMPGROUND people are coming to have fun!! And I read someone mention trash. There is no trash or garbage "all over the place" sites are not in "shambles" what I DO see is people that work for the campground going around maintaining the campground. Picking up trash, mowing etc. They do have a strict policy about driving too fast through the campground for cars and golf carts but I can understand that since there are lots of kids that are running around do you want to worry about your child being hit? I love camping at pout and trout and have gotten the most peace and quiet than I have gotten in years. No one bothers me and I dont bother anyone. I have awesome neibors that camp beside me and Im so happy to have a big area to garden . The staff are absolutely wonderful and I read bad reviews about the pool and don't understand why because as of this year the pool is sparkling clean I went there on one of our hottest days and was refreshed not discusted like reviewer said. So what I can say to these people that have in the past wrote terrible reviews about pout and trout is go back and give it another shot I bet you will change your review because it really is a great campground and I plan on being here for years to come to make many memories with my new grandson. Happy camping!!!!

There were some additional costs I didn't expect, but I understood they likely go toward the guides and the care of the horses. I've ridden before and mainly wanted to enjoy the fresh air and scenery, which did not disappoint. The only thing I really wish had been different was the photo policy. I completely respect the no-cellphone rule for safety, but it was a bit disappointing not to be able to capture or share such an incredible experience. Maybe a good compromise would be for guides to take photos or short videos during the ride, or to have a brief stop along the trail for pictures. That would make the experience feel more complete and memorable. The ride itself felt a bit strict at times--we stayed in a single line and had to keep pace, which made it feel a little tense, almost like a "keep up" situation. I understand safety is the priority, though. One of my favorite moments was when the guide explained how to calm a horse and build a connection--that part was really special. Overall, it was a great experience and one of the best I've had in the North. If the pricing felt a bit more reasonable and there were more opportunities to capture memories, I would definitely come back.

Very disappointing that they wouldn't reschedule us and only offered a 50% discount, citing their cancellation policy and having to adjust their staffing. To be clear, we did not ask to cancel; we asked to reschedule our trail ride due to a medical emergency. Their policy COULD allow for exceptions in circumstances like this, but they chose not to make one. Given the advance notice we provided, the ranch had the opportunity to adjust staffing accordingly. The Ranch also suggested that I could have purchased the optional ticket insurance at booking for added flexibility. But I did not plan to break my finger or require the flexibility to reschedule. Unexpected events happen, but unfortunately your response suggests that protecting revenue takes precedence over accommodating customers facing genuine emergencies. Their "well wishes" feels disingenuous when it is paired with a refusal to either (1) honor the ride at a later date without penalty or (2) provide a full refund. Extremely disappointing.

I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST SENDING YOUR CHILDREN HERE!…read more When we first found out about Camp Atwater, we were ecstatic to send our 12 year old daughter there. We, like many of the other parents who sent their kids here, were looking or a Black space for her to thrive in. We live in a predominantly white area. We read all of the reviews of all the people who loved Camp Atwater so much, they returned there to work the summers and continue the tradition they were raised on. We gladly forked over the $3K and sent our girl to camp. Upon visiting her on Family Day, she disclosed that Camp Atwater was nothing like the website or the testimonials promised. The food was terrible. The staff was curmudgeonly. The camp had just received funding, yet the structures/living quarters were falling apart. Camp counselors that worked directly with the kids watched and encouraged fighting. The other girls only talked about sex the entire time (I don't expect the camp to do much about this, but this compounds the problem if everything else is in total disarray). By the time we brought her back to the campgrounds, tears were streaming down her face and we decided to take her back home. We went to the office and lodged a formal complaint that I'm sure never got reopened after we left. Of course when we asked for a refund of the rest of our registration fee, we were denied. SO DON'T LEARN THE VERY EXPENSIVE LESSON WE LEARNED! There WERE kids there on a scholarship/reduced rate. So if you can get that, then maybe consider it. Otherwise, lower your expectations. Camp Atwater delivered on none of its promises and now I have to write this review against a Black owned business. And while that hurts me to do, I just want people to know what awaits their kids there.

On her first day, my husband arrived he could not find our daughter nor could the staff explain/account for where she was. Additionally she was signed up for tennis and was playing by the pool. The center refunded us for the week and the week we had registered in the future after clumsy and half assed apologies, "sorry, we have a lot of kids to watch". This was a horrifying and inexcusable experience. Children should be easily accounted for at a summer camp, without hesitation, not several moments of several staff stating, "we don't know where she is." Horrifying. We are avid tennis players and were planning on eventually joining Paxton but now I'll be staying far away and will also be sure to pass on this experience to others in the community.

I am not a member here, although I would be if it was a better maintained establishment. A few months ago I inquired about hosting a pool party for my sons 8th birthday via email. I did not receive a response. I followed up with two phone calls over a four day span, where two different people took a message. I still did not receive a phone call back. So I emailed again, I was finally responded to with some half ass excuse as to why I hadn't heard back from her. We basically set the party up, I went in to pay my deposit and I show up for my sons party. They told me when I got there that I could set up tables outside by the pool, or upstairs. I chose upstairs because it made the most sense. While getting decorated upstairs I noticed how hot it was, there was some jimmy rigged air conditioner unit that did absolutely nothing to cool the room. My mother in law verbalized to the woman in charge that she was upset about it, but I tried to have faith that it would cool down while we were outside and apologized. While we were outside there were No accommodations set up for the party so we ended up taking over tables that other peoples things were at. The umbrellas they have set up on two occasions blew the umbrella out of its stand and hit my 65 year old father. An hour and a half later, the kids and their parents headed upstairs to what felt like a sauna, the air was hot and stuffy. Kids just came from the pool and were dripping wet with sweat. For the last half hour of the party the children and parents were miserable, I voiced my frustration with the woman in charge of the party as we finalized payment. She tried to tell me that's why they gave me the outdoor option. I told her why we chose inside and had I known that the air conditioner would not do the work, I would have easily chose the unsafe option with flying umbrellas. I told her it was absolutely unreasonable for us to have been forced to sit in that, she took $50 off my balance but in hind sight I should have never booked the party here to begin with. Aside of that, the pool was great and the Kids had fun, but to have to pay $350 to pretty much run my own party with no help from the staff... I'm completely unsure what I actually paid for.
