This place is a true gem. The owners are wonderful, kind people, and the room was perfect. I had the ADA room, #1, and it was very spacious and spotless,. The bed mattress was incredibly comfortable, pillows were great, and the sheets silky soft. The bathroom is large and the shower itself is HUGE. Great dark-out curtains (important to me!), a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, cable TV, and a very good a/c unit to keep it comfy. Add to that beautiful scenery and near-eerie quiet a night broken only by the occasional car speeding past down Hwy 70, or the brief singing of coyotes. I'll be staying here from now on, whenever I'm in Quincy ( at least once a year). It's not a flashy modern hotel and doesn't need to be. It's a family owned and operated collection of rooms set in what look like small cabins, and is perfect as can be! read more

This quaint, lovely motel stole our hearts! When we entered our cabin-like room we were delighted. Immediately called the office and booked another night. The room, with a great wee kitchenette, was a comfortable, very clean room. Wood everywhere, a cute well-equipped bathroom, with a window(!), comfy bed with real blankets and bedspread - no plastic feel at all. The view of the mountains out our front windows and porch was so lovely. We went near Christmas this past year and the bushes were decorated by the owners grandchildren. Our hosts were kind, helpful and warm. We're booking another trip for May! read more

We love this place because they have kitchens and kitchenettes and allow dogs. Not many other places do so. Single and duplex cabins are clean and comfortable. Owners very friendly and helpful. Last night at 10:00 the owner was shoveling the snow off the path to our cabin. It is easy to find as you approach Quincy ca from the west. Best part is that is located in Quincy where there is a lot to see and do: movie theater, good historical museum, several good restaurants, beautiful 100 year old county building, lovely fall colors etc. read more

I honestly don't understand how this has a 4 star review. While pet friendly the owners chided us to keep the dogs away from their office because their dog goes crazy and then they get mad. DF felt that they were rude to him when he spoke to them about changing rooms. My mil who booked was under the impression we had a kitchenette but we didn't. It was a very small room with a dead spider in the bathroom sink and a live one in the shower. It smells very musty, the decking slopes and is rotting away. There is a hive of black hornets or biting flies (I didn't care to investigate) living inside the rafters over room 2's deck. The decks have no railings so not kid friendly. We were in several rooms. Room 1 was just a bedroom with a tiny bathroom and a queen bed. Room 2 has a kitchenette (full stove, small fridge, sink and counter, dishes provided) futon, queen bed, bathroom, closet and table. We found a dead bug in the dishes and had to rewash everything. The sponge provided was really gross but they did give us a new one in request. Room 4 was two beds in two rooms with a bathroom. The entry is to one bedroom with a smaller rooms do the bathroom off if it. We actually chose to go to a different hotel even though our room was paid for. read more

I drove up for a funeral two weeks ago and I did a quick google search to find a place to stay. I was surprised by how many motels are available in such a small town. I truly believe I found the best that Quincy has to offer. My room was $65/night and it came with a mini fridge and microwave and DIRECT-TV. This is such a quaint motel, the couple that runs it has been doing so for 35 years and are very kind. The heater worked great in the room. Minus one star for a pretty uncomfortable bed. There were about 20 of us who stayed here from out of town, all having arrived for the funeral. Since we basically bought out every room, we put all our deck chairs in the center of the driveway and had pizza delivered one night and were able to relax and talk out there after the funeral which we all appreciated. I would absolutely stay here again if I find myself near Quincy again. read more

I was representing a client in a case that was supposed to settle, but when it didn't, I needed to go to Quincy for the trial. I wanted some place convenient, comfortable, and where I could spread out and work. There were two of us working the case and Pine Hill Motel was perfect. First of all, this is Quincy, so scale it down a bit. The biggest hotel is the Gold Pan Lodge, but I did not want to be in the same location as the opposing party. When I met my client there to go have breakfast, the rooms were kind of beat up, like an older, not updated best western. Pine Hill, though quirky and quaint, had character to spare. I loved the classic roadside motel feel with the wood walls, the stuffed duck on each bed, the fact that it's a decent shower, we were in our own cottage type room with each of us having our bed in it's separate room. We only had a fridge, though many had kitchenettes. The beds seems comfy to sit and work on, but I never did get around to sleeping. With my printer/scanner set up and the file laid out, it was a work night. The staff was great. When I was going to be late getting in, they just told me what room I was in, went in and turned the heat on, left the light on, and left my room unlocked for when I arrived. The owners have been running the place for decades and you can just instantly tell they are good people and they enjoy maintaining their property. This is not the W or the Ritz, but I enjoyed my time here and next time I need to travel to Quincy, this is the first place I will check for vacancy. read more

When in Quincy for business or pleasure this is my favorite place to stay. The rooms are all comfortable, the owners are on-site and very responsive to my needs and requests. It is like staying in my grandmother's guesthouse. I always try to get a room with the kitchenette so I can get my coffee in the morning, have my breakfast on MY schedule and prepare a healthy meal in the evening after working all day. This is more than just a place to lay my head for the night, but not so impersonal that I can't call the owner up and remind him of a past conversation and him know who I am. For the past 6 years traveling all over CA, I have found that rare gem, a home away from home, we road warriors all look for when off the beaten path. read more

NOT PET FRIENDLY. We were set up to stay 2 nights. Unfortunatly, we had to end our trip early and the lady was nice enough to offer our money back. All we had to do was call her. After trying to contact her for 3 weeks we finally got a hold of her. She refused to give us a refund due to dog hair in the room. We stayed 1 night and were in the room for 5 hours to sleep, shower, and leave. We have a pit that barely sheds. How can you call yourself "pet friendly" then turn around and complain about a little fur? Don't let them fool you with being pet friendly. If you have an animal stay somewhere else. WHY WOULD YOU ACCEPT PETS IF YOU'RE GOING TO COMPLAIN THERE'S PET HAIR?! We went up to Quincy for a Race at the American Valley Speedway, our race got rained out so we left a night early. We asked for a refund for the night we weren't going to be there. Bonnie was polite enough to say she would refund us for the night, but to call her the next day because she wasn't on premises. I called her and no answer, called her multiple times, and left a voicemail, never heard anything back. Fast Forward 2 weeks, finally get a hold of her, and she won't give us the refund because she had to shut down the room due to the amount of pet hair. We have a pit-lab mix, yes she sheds but very minimal. We weren't in the room, but to sleep, and shower. I don't understand how there can be THAT much hair? Why would you pay a pet fee, if you're gonna bitch about pet hair. Also, when you walk up to the office it smells of pet urine. If you wan't a nice place, look elsewhere. The pictures and other reviews make it seem like it's pet friendly, but it's not. read more

The owners are very friendly and cheerful people. I love their resident cat too so sweet. Whenever I stay in Quincy this is where I stay. It gets VERY warm in the rooms when you're out, but unlike a lot of places I've stayed the AC unit brings the temp back down and keeps it comfortable. The rooms are decently sized, a bit more like duplex style cabins than anything else. We always get one with a queen bed and kitchen. The rooms are fairly clean and more "homey" than say a Holiday Inn or a Best Western. There is usually a Teddy Bear or two on the bed and cute linens in the kitchen. I love how this is a little bit out of town but still close enough to not be a hassle. You can hear the cars and large trucks zooming down the highway at all hours of the night which is one reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. Don't expect Marriott style, ultra plush luxury, expect a cute, homey place with friendly owners and that's what you'll get. They have 11 units, and on their website they actually say "uniquely decorated, including a teddy bear on every bed". You are in Quincy, is all I have to say. There are no chain type hotels so don't expect business points, breakfast buffets, or flat screen tv's with direct tv. I stayed here based on the other 2 reviews not knowing if they were actual reviews or fake ones from owner/operator. There were two of us with two separate rooms. I actually had one with a kitchenette, two burner stove, sink, fridge, and little dining table. The room is small but clean. I felt like I was in grandma's spare bedroom with matching decor to boot. ( Floral sheets, electric blanket, velvet lamp and stuffed animals on the couch.) The only con was the wireless internet access, super low signal if any at all, I just gave up. Friendly owners, bbq grills outside of every room, even saw a couple of deer creeping through the woods outside my door. Would I stay again? If I was in Quincy.....Probably would. read more

Stopped here for an overnight stay last weekend and picked here as other places were full. I must say, it was a great find. The motel has a character of its own being that it's a resident motel. It's quaint, homey and definitely pretty against the fall foliage. The rooms are really more like cabins of their own and cuter from the outside look than pictures here show. Our two queen bed 'room' was really a small cabin of two small rooms plus the bathroom. The rooms are small, but definitely clean and obviously well-maintained and complete with fridge, microwave, TV, phone, etc. We did not get the teddy bears on our beds however. We had large, plush ducks instead which were just as nice a touch. It's barely just outside town of Quincy, hardly a hassle if you have a car. Bonus: dogs are allowed for a small fee. There's a nice patch of lawn with picnic tables in front of the rooms where dogs can go or one could sit out and enjoy the outdoor weather - although it is right by the freeway. read more

My sister and I were in Plumas County because we heard the fall foliage is worth a look....and it was! We spent a few nights at the Pine Hill Motel, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The cabin was cozy, the beds were supremely comfortable, and the owner, Bonnie, was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed coming 'home' to our cabin in the late afternoon and sitting out on the front porch, and had fun evenings sitting at the kitchen table playing card games. This is an old family-owned motel straight out of the first half of the 20th Century. It could be a set for an movie set in the 1930s. It's quaint, cute and clean. The duplex cabins have nice porches. The rooms are fairly roomy and have kitchenettes. The furniture is a mix of old and not-so-old, but the stuff in our room was in good repair, clean and comfortable. The bathroom is a bit small but it was clean and everything worked fine. The proprietor was nice. My only complaints are that the walls are thin, the bed was soft and saggy and the wifi was very weak. Still, we'd probably stay there again just because it's so quaint. read more

I'll be staying here if I'm in town again. Other than actually going camping, it's the Quinciest place to stay for the price ($81 after tax for 2 queen beds, no kitchen). They have rooms with other bed combinations, and kitchenetts for different prices, but all are under $100 per night. I went to Quincy for the annular solar eclipse, and had planned on camping, but plans changed at the last minute and we chose to grab a room here instead, and it was a great idea! The owners were hilarious and very kind. The rooms are fairly small/cozy, but almost all of them have a porch with chairs, tables, and an ashtray. There's free wifi internet. The rooms are clean, and there's plenty of towels and pillows. There were so many pillows I had carve out a space among them to sleep. (You can decide whether having to establish dominance with your pillows is a pro or con.) Bonuses include: town is within walking distance if you want to get drunk at the Plumas Club, and Gansner Park is very close by if you want some swings, or barbeques. Pine Hill has barbeques too, and a cute dog named Rosie. We ended up hanging out with the owners in front of the motel to watch the eclipse. Also, don't look at the sun without proper equipment. Update: They found a jacket in either our room or the neighboring one and were kind enough to offer to mail it to us, but it wasn't ours. read more

Thought the traffic on the adjacent highway might be a problem, but it all but died out by 10 p.m. We stayed in a stand-alone cabin with a kitchenette that was more than adequate for out needs. The owners were very nice and fun to chat with. If you're looking for a big city 5-star hotel, this is not the place for you, But if you're looking for a cozy, clean place with really nice folks, the Pine Hill is the place for you. Our family found this wonderful & affordable place after taking an alternate route (AKA getting lost) coming back from our "Summer 2016 Road Trip to Oregon". We were not expecting to find anything so charming, private, & convenient. The lady who runs this place was so nice & accommodating, starting from when I called to check on availability & possibly checking in late that night, to the final friendly goodbyes the following day at check out. The cabin/room we were in was perfectly adorable & clean, with a convenient kitchenette that we VERY happy to have to be able to easily prepare ourselves something to eat that night & following morning. I spent a good portion of my time while we were there just sitting on the little porch enjoying the lovely & peaceful grounds & setting. I'm not really a "fancy pretentious resort person" so this place was perfect for me. It was also VERY pet friendly. The owner had no issues with our dog who is a Pomeranian mix with long hair & was also very sweet to her.
