The food was good, that's the only reason they get 3 stars. They lost points with our whole group due to the very poor service. Let me break it down: 1) Mojito served in the wrong glass, made with so much simple syrup you couldn't taste anything else. 2) ordered a second beer, and 5 trips back to the table by the waitress, still no beer, then she argued with me about whether I'd ordered it. 3) 2 members of our party were forgotten & their food was way late. I'm normally a generous tipper, but not when servers screw up and argue with me. I did leave a tip, but also drew a frowny face on the receipt. When we travel, we like to try different places that aren't chains, maybe recommended by locals, then if it's good, we take note and add them to our list for next time. This place is interesting. In researching craft beer in Myrtle Beach it came up among my searches. When driving by in an Uber the driver commented he was surprised I knew about it since it is really a "locals bar". Instant street cred by coming here! The outside is a very unassuming building that really looks like a dive bar that I wouldn't normally give two thoughts about. Once inside, there is a long bar and some seating with a bunch of tv's showing sports over the bar, and then a bigger room to the side which has more seating and a shuffleboard table ($2 to play, and recommendable fun). Bathrooms didn't smell great but seemed well maintained. From a venue perspective, what makes this place a truly hidden gem is their back patio. It is set on a small lake, and the patio is long with some tables tucked along the back as well as a bigger gazebo area which is covered and actually has a couple of tv's to watch the game as well. Legit, this patio is so relaxing it was the sole reason we came multiple times. They always had unique beers on tap that I hadn't tried at other stops during my trip. The only negative I can say is that their beer is priced a bit on the high side. 3 of the 4 beers I drank were $7.50 for a pint (the other being $6). I expect to pay more for craft beer (I don't drink macro brands if it's an option), but this was the highest pint prices during my trip. Regardless of that one notable negative, I was a big fan of this place. I'd be likely making it my local if I was a Myrtle Beach resident, and I'll definitely come back to chill on the patio some more should I come back to the town. read more

We've been coming here for a couple of years after a friend's recommendation. We have NEVER been disappointed. The food is ALWAYS on point. The chef always has something new to try. We stayed nearby at the Dunes Village and I think that outside of the hotel, this was the closest watering hole. Well, we went every day after sundown because we enjoyed it so much! Very friendly staff, nice selection of beers on draft. (Score for a few Michigan beers on draft!) The back patio is by some water, decorated pretty cute and casual. Nice. Inside, we found the bar pretty cozy. They often have live music, and have a jukebox as well. Bar food is pretty darn good as well. I recommend the wings and they had crab cakes with an arugula salad...ummm, much better than some fancy restaurants. In short: neighborhood bar feel, good prices, food and friendly. read more

This is a nice, friendly local tavern. If I were a local, this would be my hangout. Great patio in the back overlooking Pine Lake, it was so neat to hear the tree frogs chirping. They have a covered area with tv's & fans so you don't get eaten alive by mosquitoes. The food was great. We had a starter plate of guacamole and chips that was wonderful. The chips were a crispy,thin, Naan bread and the guacamole was freshly made. My husband had the pork chop with polenta that was the best I've ever had- the peach chutney marinade was not too sweet- just right. Pine Lakes Tavern is a little hole in the wall in Myrtle Beach. This place is such a gem. The food is amazing. She crab soup is award winning and has lots of crab meat making this marylander happy. The fried green tomatoes were also amazing. Menu is a little small - but every item we got was fantastic. Also live bands play at 10 pm. Decently priced and not the typical "bar" food you would expect. Service was also exceptional. Not exactly a "kid" environment, but some kids were here. I came for the "open" jam night. It is a great idea and there were definitely some good musicians, but the organizer didn't bother to adhere to the list. Moved here two years ago, and finally found that local bar that makes you feel like home. My favorite bar to watch sports in Myrtle Beach. Great local bar, awesome bartenders who remember you. You want to see a game, they'll put in on for you. One of the few non smoking bars in Myrtle Beach, huge plus with all the rednecks smoking down here. Great for NFL Sundays. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside is wonderful. The food menu is small and limited and I've had better food, but this is my only small and I mean small gripe. In town from CA and we were DESPERATE to find a sports bar that had all the games....we tried 6, yes 6, places, all standing room only! Lucky enough to stumble on this locals joint...and I mean that in the best way! Immediately upon entering, a group of 4 locals at a 6 top invited us to join them! No hassle, just super hospitable. Service was spot on and we tried the special, fried green tomatoes w/ cream aoli...so good! Crab dip was also excellent. And, no small detail, super clean restrooms (just saying). Had heard about this hidden gem a while back...but finally decided to give it a try. OMG, absolutely wonderful - from the staff to the food - it's a knockout win in my opinion. A perfect local's spot. Large bar area with a wide variety of daily specials as well as 'bar fare'. The pork skins were so incredibly light and filled with flavor I will never order them anywhere else. Fish and chips? Huge portion. Part of the beauty of this gem is the outdoor patio. A large pond out back with bar seating....dozens of potted plants....party lights for when the sun goes down. And yes, you can smoke in the outdoor area. This truly is a hidden gem. This place was recommended by one of my friends who now lives in MB. I was pleased with our experience. Waitress was friendly. She appeared to be the only server and attended the bar patrons too so there were a couple of times when we had to go get our own drinks which was the only negative. I tried the cheeseburger topped with pimento cheese and it was good. Their salad looked very good too. I loved the atmosphere! And it was nice to see them carry a wide variety of craft brews. Good bar with a GREAT chef. Always something new and tasty on the board menu. Maybe the best shecrab soup in Myrtle Beach. The outside area is a great unexpected little oasis away from the 17B traffic. Decent beer selection and plenty of TV's to watch the game. Only thing to keep it from hitting 5 stars is the slow service if you're at a table. The bartenders are the only servers so order another round anytime you can. Place is cool. It has the longest zinc bar on the east coast. Food was good. Small pub menu but seems to have everything. Bartender was awesome. They have pub games, shuffle board, golden tee, darts, etc. They also have all the sports packages. So we were able to watch the Boston Bruins game while we were there. read more

Tried Pine Lakes based on the few reviews that were here. It is absolutely worth it if you like a home town bar atmosphere. The beer selection is very good with quite a few good crafts. The food was not bar food! Not a large selection but very well prepared. I started with wings which were all drums and 7 weighed a pound. The crab cake was also very good. PLT is the best local's place on the Strand. People from the north or south end always stop when in Myrtle Beach. TVs, outside deck. You may even run in to Kurt Russel. You do not find friendlier people anywhere. The staff and the locals are always friendly to everyone who comes in. You just don't find that anywhere. People always come back when they are in town. It's the place you want to be. It's very chilled. read more
