3.5 STARS -- I've been here a couple times, and I have mixed feelings on this place. While I've enjoyed it, I think it might be a little overhyped. My first time was a couple years back, and I remember having a steak that was good. But then I returned last year & ordered a basic cheeseburger. The meat was crazy greasy with grease seeming to pour out every bite. It was extremely messy & it made me feel sooo bloated afterward, making me weary about coming back. All in all, I like the vibes and how they have a big selection of stuff to choose from. If you want to give it a shot, I think you'll probably find something you like there. However, in my opinion, there are plenty of other restaurants that I prefer and would recommend in the Myrtle Beach area. read more

We came in late last night- like a half hour before closing and they did NOT rush us out at all. It was very appreciated! The server was friendly; attentive and got everything we needed timely. It is so dark inside ! Lots of candle table lights but a little difficult to see. Huge place. Shrimp was crispy and tasted great. Garlic mashed potatoes were so good, but on colder side unfortunately. Ribs - so so good, fell off the bone. Calamari was tasty especially with the marinara sauce. First things first--the atmosphere was very kid-friendly, and from the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with smiles by the hostesses. They quickly seated our party of five, which was a great start to our visit. The service was okay. Nothing over the top, but not bad either. There were a few times our drinks got low, and we had to look around for our waitress, but it wasn't a huge deal. One thing I did notice was that the restaurant felt a little warm and humid inside, but with how busy it was, I can understand why. Now let's get to the best part--the food! My mom ate the crab cakes and cleaned her plate. She said they were so good she almost licked the plate clean! The kids had the chicken tenders and loved them. They were just a little overcooked, which is why we ended up taking some home, but they still enjoyed them. My wife ordered the HUGE grilled shrimp salad and finished every bite. She left happy, but she did mention she would have liked a few more shrimp, especially considering the price. As for me, I had the Catch of the Day, which was swordfish. Let me tell you--if you've never tried swordfish before, go to Carolina Roadhouse and order it! I had mine broiled, and it was cooked perfectly. It was tender, flavorful, and hands down one of the best fish dishes I've had. My only complaint? I wanted more! Overall, my little family had a great experience, and we'll definitely be back. Reviews looked really Good for this place, so the wife decided she wanted to try it. First impressions: this is a huge interior. Very high ceilings and huge palm trees in the middle. A large bar for drinks while you're waiting...which tonight there was over an hour wait (Thank goodness for reservations!) We were seated fairly quickly. Food: Not a very large menu, but good standard choices. Wife had the filet mignon. I had the Fresh Fish of the day (swordfish). Also ordered the croissants app. App came fairly quickly. The croissants were very good. Buttery and flaky...delicious. The main courses took a while to get to our table. Wife's filet was overcooked for what she ordered (she wanted medium rare...but it was much more medium) but she still enjoyed the steak. She really loved the side of garlic mashed potatoes. They were YUMMY!!! My swordfish was well cooked (broiled) and juicy, but very bland. There was absolutely no seasoning on it. I still enjoyed it however. Service: Our waiter (Ryan) was excellent. He was attentive and on top of things. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. My only complaint of the night (not on our server) was when the manager/hostess sat a group of 5 at the 4-person table very close to us and shoved a chair in between our tables. Made the seating quite close. Not ideal for wanting to be able to hold conversation with my wife. Ambiance: Very loud. Not only is it a huge dining area with lots of people, but the kitchen area is also open which contributes to the noise level. Otherwise, the interior is very nice. Overall, we had a positive experience. For 2 of us, as you can see on the receipt, our dinner came out to over $80. It is a little on the pricier side, but that's to be expected in a tourist town. Watch the tip suggestion on the receipt...they have it based on the total AFTER tax. I still tipped well, but I figured out my own tip based on the total BEFORE tax. For us, this was a bit of a drive from Surfside Beach...about 30 minutes. Not sure it was worth the trip. We could probably find something just as good, if not better, much closer. However, if you are in the upper Myrtle Beach area and it is close in proximity, it would be worth a visit. Final impression: it's a basic steakhouse...nothing more. We've been eating at Carolina Roadhouse for just short of 30 years, and it continues to be one of our favorite places to dine. It's always impressive to see how they manage to handle such a huge crowd and turn over so many tables so efficiently at such a popular establishment. This year, though, our visit was extra noteworthy thanks to our wonderful waitress, Lauren. She was fantastic--friendly, attentive, efficient, and genuinely made us feel well taken care of. In a restaurant that moves at such a fast pace, Lauren managed to make our experience feel personal and relaxed while keeping everything running smoothly. I love the look of this restaurant the open kitchen gives a Hells Kitchen feel. The service is amazing Sara was on top of it. I wish more restaurants had someone with her attentiveness. The food is delicious. Just don't get the crab dip. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to put vinegar in a creamy dip but yuck! The pretzel bread that was served with it was hot fresh and tasty. I took that part of the app home. The salads come out with a croissant. It was the best croissant I've had. Hot fresh soft with honey. So freaking good. I got the ribeye steak with garlic mash potatoes steak was cooked to my liking and seasoned just right. The garlic mashed potatoes were so creamy and smooth. The kind you get at a Ruth Chris but in my opinion better. My daughter got the salmon and absolutely loved it. The food at this restaurant is very good, and I have always appreciated having a quality dining option in our local community. However, I was disappointed with how our recent group event was handled. We had a party of more than eight people and informed the restaurant in advance, but due to their policy regarding larger groups, they would not seat our entire party together. I understand that restaurants have policies in place for operational reasons, but given that we provided advance notice, I feel there could have been some flexibility or an effort to accommodate our group. This was especially disappointing because other customers have shared that larger parties attending previous events were able to sit together. As a local customer, I genuinely want to continue supporting this restaurant and bringing friends, family, and guests here. I hope management will consider reviewing or revising the policy for parties larger than eight, particularly when reservations or advance notice are provided. Hosting a larger group should not become a barrier to supporting a local business. I am leaving this review not simply as a criticism, but in hopes that the restaurant will consider a more flexible approach for future customers and events. read more

Another post game dinner after playing at the Ripken Experience. Clean and well maintained environment. Everyone was helpful and courteous. Very good variety of types of foods for those that like seafood and for those that don't. We overloaded on appetizers because we didn't know what to pick. The crab dip with the soft pretzels was great. Perfect amount of dip for the pretzels. Dip was creamy with chunks of crab. I got the chili, which came with chips. That was the reverse. Way too many chips for the amount of chili that you received. The kid got the wings and we had to try the croissants with honey drizzled on it. I couldn't even get to the croissants. The kid was adventurous and got a cheeseburger. I went with the fried seafood platter. The burger looked phenomenal. The seafood platter was average at best. Didn't come with any tarter sauce or cocktail sauce, which I thought was weird. My wife got the French dip and raved about it. So I definitely made the wrong pick. Our orders were taken and in about 20 mins one group had their food and began to eat. After 45 mins, we asked why it was taking so long & we were told because of the size of our group! The overall experience at Carolina Roadhouse was excellent. We received great service and were sat quickly. I would recommend making a reservation or getting there before 515 pm. The restaurant fills up quickly and upon our exit the wait was an hour. The food was fantastic. My wife and son ordered the seafood plate for two. It was enough for 3 people!
