Loved the fried texture of the shrimp in the shrimp fried rice. I added pineapple to it and I'm guessing the prep cook forgot to remove the core or was just plain lazy. After playing music in Isleton, we stopped in to eat with a group of 12 people. Good food, older building but that didn't distract from the food. Had the Chow Mein, Shrimp prawns and the Chicken Asparagus. Will go back next time we are in the area. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are large. read more

The staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. The ambiance was a bit cluttered. Ordered a family meal for 3 people and a separate order of chicken chop suey. The food was all brown, with little detectable flavor. One note of ginger, and I do mean literally one. This was Christmas Eve but it was not busy. I would have to try again sometime to see if same results. All of the food was packed in styrofoam meal containers as opposed to the usual Chinese takeout boxes. read more

I just ordered sweet and sour pork. Maybe there was pork inside the huge amount of breading. It was in a styrofoam takeout container and had the red sauce slopped over it with 5 leaves of raw onion thrown on top with not one piece of pineapple and a small square of green pepper. No one cares here anymore and you can tell. I ordered hot chili sauce which came in a small plastic cup. I tasted it carefully thinking it would be hot....no chance. The pepper flakes had been used for so many years there was no flavor at all and certainly no hot. The last thing Isleton needs is another miserable restaurant. read more

I had the General's Chicken and my husband had the Mongolian beef; excellent. Pot stickers were huge with good filling. Waitress had a very personable personality and was very attentive. Super good Moo Shu Pork. Comes with five pancakes!! Most restaurants provide only two and charge for more. . Lots of veggies and pork in this dish. Nummy!! Really reasonable prices as well. Braved going over the R.V Bridge today. First time back to Pineapple in years. The food was great just like before. Yee served large portions and such friendly service. I had mongolian beef. I have been coming to this restaurant for 40 years and it is by far the finest chines American food I've ever eaten. their potstickers are great their fried rice is non greasy and absolutely awesome. It was a lot of fun to be there on Asian Day. Music and Parade and dancing. Next food. I think this was more Chinese American food to attract the tourist crowd but it was very good. It was sort of Chinese-ish. The portions were awesome, and the price reasonable. It was a special busy day so we had to wait a short time for a table. The hostess, a teen girl was very nice and polite. She offered a place to sit and wait for our table. The other young lady serving the tables was a dynamo. She worked so hard. I mentioned to my gf she needed roller skates. Our food arrives and we dove in. I noticed I think I got Sweet and Sour Pork - - - but I ordered General Tso Chicken. It was very sweet and sticky. I could be wrong. I would like to order something different on a day where they weren't stretched for help. And give the "Chinese" taste a second try. I do have to say on the vegetarian section, the deep fried tofu cubes in garlic sauce was awesome. read more

My husband got a wonton soup and said it was just, "OK", the egg rolls, and pot stickers, Mongolian beef, pork fried rice, chicken chop suey and chicken chow mein. Prices UP , quality DOWN!! We used to drive into Isleton a couple of times a month for Pineapple's but we haven't been in about a year.. Just picked up our lunch and I'm sorry to say but it was NOT worth the money, the pupu tray used to be $9.95 it is now $19.95 they took out the ribs and there three tiny pieces of dried out bbq pork at the bottom of the tray, everything is cold and over cooked. the wings are fried til they are bittle and the meat is completely dried out, the rangoons are too hard to bite into .. all in all just bad quality .. if the food had been as good as it used to be the price increase would still be crazy but I would not have complained... Asparagus Beef (tender strips of beef, hunks of onion and zucchini, with large tender spears of asparagus; Pineapple Chicken (light sauce, not goopy, nice chunks of not deep-fried chicken); Kung Pao Chicken (asked for no chili pepper bits, should have let them do their magic, we ended up adding sriracha sauce and soy sauce) veggies, peanuts; and Vegetable Medley (huge fresh chunks of zucchini, broccoli, celery, onions, boy choy, water chestnuts, etc); steamed rice and hot tea. Terrific hostess. Our bill was $57 for all that, plus we have enough leftovert for 2 more dinners. Sorry didn't take photos since we dived right in when the plates quickly arrived! Just a tidbit of information here with the emphasis on "population". Isleton is a city in Sacramento County, California, United States. The population was 804 at the 2010 census, down from 828 at the 2000 census. It is located on Andrus Island amid the slough wetlands of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, on the eastern edge of the Rio Vista Gas Field. Name of Restaurant: Pineapple (huh?) I was at a friend's house carrying on about the worst Chinese food I have ever had at Wongs in Antioch (see my review for more information). My friend suggested that we go downtown and have some Chinese food at Pineapple. Pineapple??? Would I drive to Pineapple again? No, too far away but will go there again when visiting my friend. Downtown Isleton is sort of a ghost town; the buildings are a historical part of California's Chinese influence. Unfortunately Isleton has felt the economic downturn and not many businesses have survived. Pineapple is easy to get to, street parking is available. The front of the building is quirky and reminds me of an artsy/fartsy Berkeley kinda place. Inside is an eclectic mess that is entertaining and quite appealing. It's like an ocular candyland with all sorts of knick knak's and colorful items. The dishes/glasses and silver ware was clean. Funny when the server brought out water glasses I gasped in recognition...I had the same glasses as a kid in the late 70's. The menu is filled with all the usual Chinese dishes: Beef and Broccoli, Fried Rice.... I don't really eat Beef but I tried their Beef and Broccoli and I don't think I have ever tasted such deeply flavored oyster sauce concoction. The meat was so tender it was like butter. I also had the Pork Fried rice which is usually a dry dish in my travels. The meat was very most and the rice was perfectly cooked. My friend ordered the Honey Walnut Prawns and carried on about their deliciousness factor. I let her have her prawns; I am allergic to both Walnuts and Prawns. My friend has lived in Isleton for an eternity. When the server came out my friend mentioned to me that the first time she ate at Pineapple the server (daughter of the owner) was just a baby. Here she is an adult and the family business is alive. The server was very friendly and knew my friends name (well in Isleton most people know each other). It was nice to experience a down home friendliness. The prices were not much different than most Chinese food menu items. My 2 cents: Very simply put; when in Isleton, go where the locals go. Having eaten there a year ago when we were staying locally to fish for salmon, my buddy and I headed back this year expecting the food to be good. After waiting longer than it should have taken, my chow mien and deep fried chicken arrived. The chicken was like a brick. It was dry and hard. I ate most anyway since I was famished after a day on the river. The chow mien was plentiful, but not tasty, even by my redneck standards. For the first time in my life, I left some Chinese food behind. Next year we'll forget Chinese food in the Isleton area. read more

It is the Pineapple Restaurant. (Read Robyn J's quizzical references to the name Pineapple...) I had shrimp and veggies and it was great. Better than I've had in more populated areas. My dude thought it would be awful because in Isleton, the handful of restaurants have a captive audience - so to speak. My story about winding up in Isleton: I took a windsurfking class on Sherman Island and googled and yelped around looking for an interesting place to stay. We settled on Rogelio's a few doors down from the Pineapple. If you're in to photography or history, you might consider a weekend in Isleton a diversion.... ok, forget that. Don't go.
