I tried Tasty Every Hour on Friday night. Since it was the first time trying it,I got a selection of items that we normally get at China House which is our normal Chineese restaurant in Vacaville. The pot stickers were good but the sauce for them was awful. No one would use it. The fried wontons looked like dried up tortellini and we're very hard to eat. The Mongolian beef was tasty but there was no spice to it. Orange chicken was so so. The pork chow mein was really good though. That is why I gave them 3 stars. Sweet and Sour, Orange Chicken, and the General Tao. The white meat on the Sweet and Sour and Orange Chicken was overcooked, and the General Tao was overdone on the Dark meat, making it hard and dry. Food is consistently good. They have pretty authentic Chinese dishes. Their spicy dishes can get pretty spicy, so if you can't handle the heat, best not to order any of their spicy dishes. Not many table to eat inside, I always just get takeout. Their portion size is good for the price. The lady that works the front can be a little friendlier and soften up her tone a little when she talks to you. I was looking for a war wonton soup because that's what gets me feeling better when I'm not feeling so good. I'm new to the area and I looked up war wonton soup, and tasty. Every hour Chinese restaurant came up. I tried their war wonton soup and the shrimp fried rice. I really enjoyed the war wonton soup, It tasted really good flavorful better than others I tried so this will be my go to spot. The shrimp fried rice was good, but not extraordinary so I would say it was the average or basic. The service was fast and friendly atmosphere was very clean and nice and cool. Have to say this is my favorite chow mein place in the area now. Was super quick Tasted super fresh and the other review was right has a nice little crunch to each bite. I got mine spicy and she made sure they made it spicy. I also got the pop sticker and they were perfect. Nice and toasty and great tasting filling. I was super impressed. On my last visit, I fell in love with the salt and pepper chicken, still magical. Last time I was there, the lady working recommended the Chongqing-style deep fried chicken. Somehow, in my excitement, and maybe because I couldn't hear over the sound of my stomach growling, I misheard her and ended up ordering the Sichuan chicken instead. Let me tell you, this chicken was spicy, saucy, and packed with flavor. The kind of dish that makes you stare at your empty container wondering where your self control went. This is a hidden gem. Very small establishment, however they make up for it with hospitality. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The food had tons of flavor and the prices are reasonable. We ordered: family size combination chow mein, beef fried rice, orange chicken, walnut shrimp Shauzen chicken, bumplings & pot stickers. The pot stickers and bumplings were my daughter's favorite. We order vegetable chow mein, vegetable fried rice, spicy spare ribs, spicy chili oil wontons, vegetable egg rolls, and lunch special general tsao . We just wanted to try everything so we ordered a lot of food. Needless to say we had a lot of to go boxes. The food was so good. The service was quick and they were so attentive with our needs. Rainy night, Christmas evening...supposedly a busy time for Chinese restaurants. They're actually open and doing great business, in case you were wondering. Stopped in to grab a pre-movie dinner and I had seen good reviews here. I also had seen an ad in Vacaville magazine which I got at Nugget across the highway. Let me say first that there isn't a lot of room for ordering in as there are maybe 4-5 tables tops. This is almost entirely to-go operation and from the sounds of the calls coming in, and the endless stream of drivers coming in to pick up orders, and even cancelling orders it's clear that this place does great business for such an unassuming space inside this small lot. I was informed that they were only serving a la carte, not the lunch or dinner specials that were on the menu. I didn't fight it though it wasn't too clear why I had to pay extra for steamed rice. But the dinner entree was indeed $13.99 for the kung pao chicken. And let me say it was the most outstanding, flavorful version I had had in a long time. Lots of chicken, lots of spice, ample veggies, tasty peanuts that didn't overpower. Also the portion size was impressive as I didn't finish. This will be a place to come back to often when I am in the area, especially for the lunch and dinner specials. Finding good Chinese food outside of the big cities of the North Bay is challenging. Fortunately there is a little fast casual spot in Vacaville called "Tasty Every Hour". The food is quite good especially if you like the lovely Sichuan pepper corn and it's mouth numbing properties. It's in these types of dishes that this place shines. Their fried chicken and rib dishes (see pictures) are ON FIRE (you can request the level of heat but I like em spicy). So good, fried to perfection with essence of cumin and those spicy chilies. I would recommend ordering a not so spicy dish, walnut shrimp perhaps, along with a spicy one. Their spicy wonton is probably the best version of this dish that I have ever had. The service is super friendly and they will guide you to the correct dishes to suit your taste. The only critique I would make is with respect to the General Tsao chicken. While tasty it would be so much better if it was made with dark meat chicken. The white meat is too dry for this dish. Perhaps a harmonious mix of white & dark meat? Next time I'm in Vacaville I will be getting something tasty, if you know what I mean. read more

Unexpected. Out on the fringes of Vacaville past the Home depot, the auto dealership, bordering the margin of the once modest Green Tree golf course sits this little gem in a scruffy strip. I heard distant murmurs of a real tasty chinese shop out in vacaville and decided to see for misself. We arrived to the tiny dining room, out on the edges of town as I had heard. Six or seven tables, clean, pedestrian, chinese phrases exchanged between the kitchen and the super-friendly hostess who greeted us. We sat and browsed the menu. Clearly has Sichuan spirit and tamed to an american familiarity. I had a serious jones for a combo chow mein and my wife often likes Beef Broccoli so thats what we did with an Orange Chicken just to get a variety. Impressive in my opinion. Chow mein noodles had fragrance that only comes from a well-seasoned wok with tender shrimp, beef and chicken. The noodles are a stand-out as they have a chew that I haven't experienced for a looong time. Love that chewy quality. The aromatics are well balanced and the veggies are crisp and add a textural crunch and the xiang liao, tiao wei (base aromatics and sauce) are generous. Generous? All our plates were HUGE. 2-3 days of leftover lunches at hand. The prices are way affordable for what is offered. The beef with the broccoli is velveted perfectly rendering the meat near melting on the palate. Again, the sauce is well balanced and plentiful. The Orange chicken was very good as what appeared to be a mix of thigh and breast meat was treated well. It can be a challenge to wok-fry chicken breast and these quaintly cubed nibbles are moist with the deep underlying fragrance of seared orange zest. We came out pleased we made the trip from Fairfield to explore. No beer-wine choices yet. Overall great stuff IMHO. Joe-Bob says spend a tasty hour. read more

Tasty Every Hour Chinese has been on my bucket list for awhile. The restaurant always have such great reviews. I finally gave them a try for lunch today. The menu was taped on the window. I took a look and decided on my food before I went inside. When I arrived, it was very quiet. There was only 1 customer at a table and a table of customers that left right after I came in.(Keep in mind, it is lunch time. This restaurant is in an area with other businesses, a hospital, and a hotel right by I-80) The woman at the counter had her back turned towards me. No greeting. Even with the bell on the door ringing when I came in. When she turned around, she didn't greet me. I greeted her first and placed my to go order. My order was the lunch special, which includes steamed rice and the daily soup. I decided on general tao chicken, fried rice (in place of the streamed, $1.00 extra), and the soup. I also got a side order of fried cream cheese wonton. I don't know what the soup was, and forgot to ask while I was ordering. The general tao chicken was delicious and spicy, it was a nice portion served that I can split into multiple servings. The fried rice was well cooked and tasted seasoned; also a great portion that was divided up at home. The soup, I didn't like at all. Overall, I enjoyed the food. I see why this place gets so much great reviews! Service was lackluster, I have had much better. The food, I can say was absolutely delicious. That is what will bring me back. My husband and I were staying at the Hyatt and we were looking for places to eat. I yelped and saw that this place had really good ratings so we decided to try it. I didn't expect much from it seeing as it was a small place. But I was so wrong. It did not disappoint at all. You would not think that a place this small would make such delicious food. Nothing fancy about the inside but the service was good and the staff was so sweet. We had our 2 year old with us and they were so nice and gave him so many fortune cookies at the end. We couldn't decide on what to order so we got some of our favorite dishes to try. We got Mongolian beef, combination chow mein, hot and sour soup, honey walnut shrimp and xiaolongbao. Everything was delicious. I was so surprised at how much flavor these dishes have and the hot and sour soup, so good! I'm very picky when it comes to hot and sour soup and this place knows what they're doing. Their meats are soft and tender. Not chewy and tough at all. Their chow mein is cooked perfectly, you can taste the charred from the wok. Honey walnut shrimp was huge. I thought it was going to be mostly batter but nope, their shrimp was big and perfect amount of sauce. Not to mention their portion is huge also. After we finished and packed whatever was left to go, we still had a good amount left. Definitely enough for another meal or 2. I ordered BBQ Pork fried rice and sweet/sour pork. Don't think my rice was fried. It was steamed & sticky rice. Eggs looked like noodles. At first I thought it was a chow-mein noodle Then I realized it was the scrambled egg. I definitely had better tasting sweet & sour pork. This was more fatty. Would have been better if it was belly pork. Fried rice was bland. No green onions. The picture on the menu is fake. That was $29 wasted. Now I got to cook. I based my choice on the 4.3 star rating so something there must taste great or could it be the rating is for their menu choices. There's like a million entrées to choose from. I ordered through DoorDash so I can only comment on the taste and portion sizes. I'm sure the presentation is nicer for dine-in so I don't typically take photos of delivery food. First off I was very pleasantly surprised at how big the menu is. It's a lot more than the basic fried rice, chow mein, sweet and sour chicken etc that you'd find at Panda. We will definitely need to order from them again several more times and try different items. This time we ordered the pork potstickers, bbq pork buns, chicken chow mein, and the sweet and sour chicken. Food arrived very quickly, still hot, and was packaged neatly. The packaging included complimentary fortune cookies and several packets of soy sauce. The pork potstickers came with a side of chili oil which wasn't too spicy. Just enough for some nice flavor. The potstickers were juicy with a nice crispness on the fried side. The bbq pork buns (3) were deliciously light. The filling however was not the typical bright red chopped pieces of bbq pork. The chow mein was very generously packed. The other Yelpers are not kidding about the portion size. It was enough food for 4-5 servings. The noodles weren't too greasy. The proportion of protein to noodles to vegetables was appropriate. The sweet and sour chicken was also packed to the brim! Great flavor with many pieces of pineapple. The food here was amazing and the staff here were amazing hosts, especially to my little niece and nephew. We had no idea that the portions were so generous especially since it was so cheap, and we quickly ran out of room on the table with all the food we ordered (3 adults 2 kids). There is limited seating and most tables only sit 4 with only one table that can sit 6. The most delirious thing we had wasn't anything we originally ordered, but was suggested by staff and it was the Golden broth with beef. My only disappointment was I didn't feel like the dandan noodles came with enough sauce, but was otherwise still very delicious. I would definitely come back! read more

Ordered food for takeout. This is a very welcome addition in the area considering. This place is leagues above the place that was here before. I had ordered the yuxiang eggplant and dry pot cauliflower. Definitely reminds me of szechuan style cooking and the tingle. Both dishes were good and cooked well. I liked the yuxiang eggplant more I'd say since it had a bit of a sweet savory component to it. The heat wasn't too much for either dish which was nice. I'll certainly stop by again since there's other veggie dishes to try. I'm quite interested to see if the mapo tofu also holds water since it fits so well to these type of flavors. read more

Located in a strip mall by an old movie theater across from the DMV, this place is small but you know it's legit when there's elder Asians ordering in Mandarin. Solid Chinese food option in Vacaville in my opinion. I often feel that people base Chinese restaurants off of their portions and not necessarily taste. This place offers both generous portions and fresh flavorful dishes. I've been here several times and have done both dine in and takeout. My first time, I ordered the lunch special Sichuan beef with chow mein (a $1 upgrade from steam rice). The soup for the lunch special came out first which was just meh in my opinion. An egg drop type soup with hardly any flavor. My meal came out quickly after and when taking my first bite I could immediately taste the fresh ginger sauteed with the beef. So good! I saw a table order salted pork fried rice and it immediately reminded me of my childhood. My family would go get dim sum when we visited Monterey Park and order salted fish fried rice, so I had to try it. It came out and the taste was good, however the rice was really sticky which I wasn't a fan of. All in all the dine in experience was good. Quick and friendly service, however space is limited. I have also ordered bbq pork chow mein for takeout and it was delicious and full of flavor. This hidden gem needs to be uncovered. Its location is across the street from DMV, take note of it. One of my students suggested this place and a dish that would cure darn near all illnesses. So, I went. He wasn't wrong. The Mapo tofu was fire, literally. It's tricky, it lures you in because it's delicious and then BAM! The Fire sneaks up but you're committed because it's sooooooo delicious. The depth of flavor and the texture melded well. The cherry chicken was not just breaded chicken with cherry sauce, the chicken had flavor (I don't like chicken) and it was delicious. The customer service was excellent. Sara(h) was a great host. Tried this place last week and I am sorry to say that we won't be back. To say the food is so salty that your kidneys immediately shrivel up is an understatement. We only tried a couple of things. Veggie chow fun, beef with green beans and pot stickers. The staff was wonderful. The portions were good. There was lots of beef in the dish -- the sodium just made us feel really ill.
