For a long time I've seen Peppes and thought it was just another Latin food cantina with burritos…read moreand tacos. Tried it last night with my family and nothing could be further from the truth. This is Manhattan quality cuisine - top notch. We started with Teriyaki wings, which were perfectly done, tender and succulent. Guacamole which was a large serving of yes please. For main we had Costillas baby back ribs, falling off the bones with finger-licking bbq sauce; Salmon and shrimp pasta dish. salmon was cooked perfectly, tender with a crispy skin. Bisteck steak dish with was like wow, so tender and tasty like a stew it just melts in your mouth. Also a Hamburgesa Campachana that is one of the best and biggest burgers I've eaten. We were all stuffed and truly impressed with the meals. I think this is the best food in the Poconos. New Yorkers, make this a must-try. You don't have to settle. I have to add that the restaurant has a great lively atmosphere and bar. I hear that there is sometimes dancing and live entertainment. The wait staff are so friendly and attentive, I can't fault them on anything. We will be back, and we are making it our businesses to spread the word too. This place is a local treasure, support it so that it stays. VERY IMPORTANT: There are clearly photos on this yelp page of when Peppes was under previous management. It looks nothing like this any more. The food looks nothing the same.

I came here on a Saturday night around 9:50pm, I just moved to the area so I wanted to try our…read morelocal spot, i have mixed feelings I'm not too sure if I'll be back. To start of I had a lemonade (which was fresh not like the powder ones I recommend)I order chicken taco and my boyfriend ordered el pastor tacos, few minutes later the server came back and was like we ran out of chicken so I changed it to shrimp, few minutes later she came back once again we ran out of pastor she he changes it to beef. Keep in mind this is a Saturday night... anyways they provide you with chips and salsa which again was fantastic. We had the calamari which again was really good, the cause was a very strong tomato flavor but again that's normal. Not sure what the purple stuff was on the carrot maybe radish or like cabbage but it was completely sour not a fan. As per my boyfriend meal the taco was completely cold. Like I mean ice cold to the touch, not sure if they forgot to cook or warm it up was it was not the best experience. After that it will downhill we asked them to redo it but we lost our appetite what started of as an amazing dinner turned into I'm not sure what. We ended up getting up to pay before his food even arrive because we knew we didn't want to be there anymore, I will say the customer service was good they did apologize and moved one of the taco meals of the bill. Keep in mind Saturday night there's dj I didn't know that but it's extremely loud. To talk to the waiter you have to go near their ear like a club lol that I didn't really care though.

We didn't buy tickets in advance, but it was unclear where to go to get tickets and meet the tour. On the parking lot level, they rent out rooms to third party businesses who will not help direct you. The street parking level (downstairs) has a bunch of small shops and the ticket area way in the back. This was all pretty unclear the day of. The hotel seems like a work in progress still, but it's nice it was saved. The Delaware Water Gap used to be a hip and happening place and most of those turn of the century hotels are gone now, so it's nice this was saved from demolition thanks to a second era as a music publishing company by Fred Waring (of blender fame) and a third era as a restoration project from a couple wanting to save its history. The tour goes through the old soda shoppe, outside for a little bit to see the general area, then into the event venue space/original lobby. It's too bad there are no restored hotel rooms to see or book at present. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and seeing the remnants of tourism a hundred years ago was cool. I hope as time goes on, more areas get restored to their more original look.

Then it was owned by Fred Waring Sr who was a vocal instructor and had a traveling jazz group called Warnings Pennsylvanians, and he also ran Shawnee Press at the castle and became one of the world's largest publishers and sellers of choral music. He had lots of famous people working with him including the writer of 'Conjunction Junction What's your Function'. The tour was just about and hour and definitely interesting! While you are there for the tour you can tour the shops, there is a nice assortment as well as an adorable Ice Cream shop. Definitely check the website before going, tours are only done on specific days. I felt the tour was a good value. There is limited off street parking, but on street parking it also available.
