This is a wonderful space for children. I love how clean it is and how friendly and accommodating the owner is both times I have been there.

    Claws 'N' Paws Animal Park

    Claws 'N' Paws Animal Park

    (135 reviews)

We recently took a trip to Claws 'N' Paws and the kids had a great time. I think I'll just go…read morepros and cons for this review. Pros: Jethro the giraffe was so kind and gentle. He would randomly drop down to say hello and it made our hearts melt. When feeding time came around he was the main attraction. Seeing the kids interact with him paid for the price of admission. The kids loved the cockatoo's and any other bird that would talk. Watching my five year old try to have a convo with them made us laugh. They had a lot of gorgeous animals - lynx, cute prairie dogs, male and female African lions, jags, leopards, a tiger, bobcats, etc. The Eagle Owl they had was one of my favorites. What a beautiful animal. Stunning. They have an enclosed reptile area with over a half dozen snakes, lizards and a few spiders. The bathrooms were large and kept up with for the most part. The trails were easy to follow, so I'd imagine it's hard to get lost. The staff was nice, seemed passionate and caring for the animals. Cons: Only one bathroom near the front entrance. It's not a huge park, but it would be nice to have more options. Lack of flat pathways. After days of rain there were lots of puddles and running water because the park is not totally flat. Rocks and roots are exposed so be mindful if you're not steady on your feet. Some of the animals are hard to see because the protective plastic was fogged up. May have been the temp changes. Their food area could use a face lift. They offer food for eat in but we passed and found someplace outside the park. Their retail store had a lot of items (tons of stuffed animals) but we skipped this go around. We would return. The kids enjoyed the park. We spent about two hours there and felt it was worth the money. Remember this is a small zoo in the Poconos, not a large City zoo. Thanks guys!

Shawnee Playhouse - Of Mice & Men 2019

    Shawnee Playhouse

    (8 reviews)

My husband and I were visiting Shawnee on Delaware, and I was looking for an activity for us to…read moreenjoy that didn't involve hiking! I looked at the Shawnee Playhouse's website, and found that two shows were being offered during the dates that we'd be in Shawnee -- a children's show (no kids with us) and a headline show (The Full Monty). We decided to get tickets for the latter though we were a bit concerned about the "adult content" warnings. We purchased our tickets and selected our balcony seats on-line (for a headline show, $29/each - regular, or $26 for a senior, plus a few dollars for ticketing fees). On the day of the show, we arrived about 30 minutes before the show. The (free) parking lot was already filling up but we found a good spot. We were warmly greeted at the door, and a valet offered to take us to our seats. Some concessions were available, at reasonable prices -- water, candy, etc. We had a wonderful experience at the playhouse. Obviously, this wasn't a professional Broadway performance but we would much prefer a community play as we saw at Shawnee! As a small theater, all audience members have "good seats" and, as noted by my husband, you can actually see the expressions on the actors' faces. It truly felt like a community get-together, with old friends greeting each other at the entrance, and comparing notes about the play on the way out. The quality of the acting/singing was very good, and the show was entertaining. I look forward to returning to the Shawnee Playhouse on our next trip to the Poconos.

Great seats anywhere. Very entertaining. No lines. The actors were good. I'd go back againread more
