But everything else was a solid 3. Nothing wrong with it at all... But, I was underwhelmed based on my previous experiences. When we checked in, the host was fine. The room was fine. The bathroom did leave some things to be desired. There was not a good place to put your toiletries. We also had to climb into a very deep bathtub to get to the shower... If you are clumsy, like me, you may walk away with a couple of bruises. The house itself was very pretty, and was decorated in a manner appropriate for the property. I would've liked to seen some warm blanket to sit out on the patio with, board games, or puzzles to pass the time. There was only one sofa, and it was not in a cozy little nook where you would want to hang out. The food was fine. The menu is heavy on carbs and sweet breakfast treats. They were executed well enough. But there was not any particular breakfast that knocked my socks off. Again it was fine. The location was very convenient to downtown Asheville. It would be a two minute drive or a 10 minute walk to downtown Asheville. This bed-and-breakfast did not appear to be owned and operated by the hosts, rather an absentee corporation or business. I think that made the difference. Everything was fine, but it didn't have that touch of home that you expect when you stay at a bed and breakfast. For example, when we wanted to use the television, and needed some assistance, when we called the number that was left, the call was blocked. On a whim , we texted Fortunately, they responded right away. But ultimately, after 6 PM you are on your own in terms of staffing. Overall, I can recommend Beaufort House, but I think next time I will try something different.

However, I was expecting this to be a special and elegant experience and it was not. When we arrived during the specific check in time the door was locked and no one was in the front office. It turns out they were showing someone else to their room but we didn't know that. We just stood out on the porch not knowing what to do until someone finally came to the door. There's no reason they couldn't have the front door unlocked during the limited window of check in time. The person who showed us around said there would be "heavy continental breakfast ". However, it turned out the breakfast was probably the very absolute minimum they could provide and still call it breakfast. It was very disappointing. If I'm not mistaken it was only available from 8:30 until 9:30 or something very limited like that. Finally, there was no lotion in our bathroom, only shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. I would stay there again but I would have to weigh the options of amenities and prices of other hotels. A regular mid price hotel has more amenities than what was offered when we stayed.

The first course was a delightful fruit parfait. The second course was a delicious frittata made by Karen and Steve's famous maple bacon. The third course was a really tasty scone. But the fourth course absolutely blew me away. Karen and Steve are classical musicians, and I knew they would be great. But their music touched my soul and had me in tears. It was such a great experience that I would recommend traveling to Hendersonville just to stay at the Elizabeth Leigh and eat at the restaurants on Main St. It's a very relaxing and classy small town. Main St. is a short 10 minute walk from the inn. When I walked into the inn, I was blown away by the elegant antique decor. The pictures online just don't do it justice. I stayed in the Blue Room. It had a large comfortable bed, two chairs, loveseat, wardrobe, and a few other various decor items. All the colors and patterns went together flawlessly. The bathroom was incredible. It had gold and white accents, but still went really well with the blue theme. There were plenty of fresh high quality thick white towels neatly rolled in a basket. The shower had an adjustable head. Water stayed warm the whole time despite showering at the same time as other guests. Breakfast was southern, filling, elegantly served, and tasted amazing. The first breakfast was eggs, bacon, and thick French toast. The next was a cream cheese, berries, and French toast casserole or 'hot dish' depending on where you're from. There was complimentary bottled water, wine, ice cream, homemade white chocolate macadamia cookies, homemade pound cake (which was wonderful), and beer. Now possibly the most enjoyable part, the rest of the property. The inn has a wraparound porch with big white rocking chairs that overlook the yard and the little street in front of the house. The backyard has a fountain, swing in front of a little waterfall pond, and corner area with seating. There are multiple places to have private conversations with your loved one(s). If you get the opportunity, getting to know the owner Cindy and her husband Mike will be the best part of your stay. Every detail was exceptional--from the thoughtful touches in the room to the breathtaking scenery. We're already looking for an excuse to return to South Carolina so we can spend more time here. This stay was part of a planned road trip through North and South Carolina, and the experience began well before we arrived. In the weeks leading up to our visit, Christian reached out multiple times to confirm our preferences and arrival details. It was such a thoughtful touch and made us feel genuinely welcomed, like our stay truly mattered. The arrival and check-in instructions were clear, warm, and inviting--more like being welcomed as guests than customers. The drive in sets the tone beautifully, winding through the rolling hills of northwest South Carolina, past lush forests and open pastures. Eventually, you arrive at an unassuming gate off the road, leading past a small pond and into the woods. A short drive up a gravel road brings you to the main inn. The building houses four guest rooms along with common spaces used during their wine bar events. There are also several private cottages on the property, which we didn't explore--but after this stay, they're definitely on our radar for next time. We stayed in the Gable Room, located up a flight of stairs with its own private ground-level entrance. A personalized note greeted us at the door, and inside, a beautifully arranged welcome letter awaited us on the bed, surrounded by rose petals--an elegant and memorable touch. The room itself was stunning. Our favorite details included the lace-draped bed, the cozy gas fireplace, the relaxing jetted tub, and the incredible balcony view. It truly felt like every possible need had been anticipated--from plush robes to well-stocked kitchenette supplies, even down to small, thoughtful items like bandages by the sink - just in case. And the bed--absolutely incredible. The memory foam mattress and feather pillows made for one of the best nights of sleep of the trip. Waking up to a sunrise over the pasture, with horses grazing against a mountain backdrop, was nothing short of magical. We spent the morning on the balcony, setting up the chairs and tray tables to enjoy coffee in the early sun. It was completely peaceful--just the sounds of birds, a few wild turkeys, and the occasional soft chuff from the horses. We were genuinely disappointed to be leaving after just one night. Throughout the rest of our trip--and even now--we keep talking about how much we wish we had stayed two or three nights instead. If there's one small area for improvement, it would be the Wi-Fi. The signal in our room was a bit weak, and the streaming-only TV had trouble connecting. That said, in a place like this, you may find you don't miss it at all. It didn't detract from our experience, and certainly not enough to impact our rating. Overall, a 10/10 experience. We even had the pleasure of meeting Christian, Allison, and Griffin on our way out--they are an absolutely charming family. Thank you for an unforgettable stay. We can't wait to return. Now that we've experience the Chestnut Street Inn and Emilie & Arturo's hospitality, we will never stay anywhere else. The Inn is perfectly located, just a short walk and even shorter drive/uber to downtown. The room we stayed in was adorable and super comfy. We loved the furnishings, soft sheets and towels on the bed, etc. But, the in-room gas fireplace was by far my favorite amenity -- I found myself not even wanting to venture out but rather sit in the room warming my feet by the fire. (Don't worry though, we went out!) Throughout our stay, it was fun to discover all the hidden treats in the common areas. There were homemade cookies and chocolate in every nook and cranny of the place! Breakfast was amazing and prepared fresh each morning. Lots of helpful info way of pamphlets and brochures are all over the Inn but if you need any advice, I'd encourage you to just chat with Emilie. She had lots of great suggestions on where to go and what to do and seemed to genuinely love the area. We're looking forward to our next visit!

The home is gorgeous offering updated items like the en suite bathrooms but keep with the original charm of this historical home. Each evening they offer happy hour with local wines and homemade hors d'oeuvres - a great way to get to know Abe and Pam and the other guests. Breakfast consisted of three courses and they were able to accommodate my friend who joined me with his many food allergies with the 1st and 2nd courses. This B&B is amazing and Pam and Abe offer top notch service and amenities. If you want an awesome experience that's close enough to wander into the heart of Brevard this is the place for you!!!
