Funny thing, we were the only ones staying the night (luckily we only booked one night), to find that out upon arrival. No WiFi access (too cheap to expense that) the advertised pub was not an option, nor was the restaurant! Then in the morning the BREAKFAST, hense part of a BED & BREAKFAST experience, was a granola bar, dry cereal, a few grapes, cinnamon rolls wrapped in plastic wrap, juice "if" you wanted it and milk "if" you had cold dry cereal. Sadly the 2 ladies that work their are way too nice!! Shame on this owner! I have reached out via text several times in which I was told I would get a call back after Carl was out of a meeting...no call. Today I left a voice message...no return call. So, unfortunately lesson learned that those intended to lie and rip you off are out there even hidden under a very impressive PHONY website.

The new owners have maintained the place amazing well, from the new terrace extension to the restaurant (heated!), to the paths, Tesla wall batteries in case of emergencies, coffee service. The mattress was hard and uncomfortable but I did sleep good! This suite has lots of stairs to get to it so that was a challenge with luggage but we made it. The furnishings are old, in style with the house, but comfortable. There were fans in the rooms which was nice. We arrived late at night and got the last private parking spot, which is also a walk to the house but doable. Breakfast is served 8:30a-9:30s and we went down about 9a. There were no seats available, the hostess came and apologized and told us the breakfast menu for the day. Bacon was on it and I LOVE some bacon. Finally got seated, breakfast arrived, no bacon, they were out of bacon! Dissatisfaction! After breakfast talked with inn hostess and told her we didn't need our room cleaned but could use some clean towels and trash taken out. She said ok, she would do it and then hang a rope across the steps to let the housekeeper know we didn't need service. Then we left for the day. Got back late, clean towels, trash not emptied. Next day, left the rope down, left for the day, got back late, no clean towels, trash still not emptied. Oh, and we went down to breakfast by 8:30 to make sure we got seats and food! I'm There is a small fridge in the dining area with ice in baggies and you can store something small but that's it. They do have coffee/tea and small snacks t/o the day and night. This place is clean but not exceptionally clean, the outside grounds were nice but not exceptionally nice. Which I feel is the theme for this place, everything is nice and comfortable but not exceptional. Back to the breakfast, they make your breakfast and serve you, there are no options, you get what they are serving. The food was good. Would I stay here again? Not sure but glad I did stay here at least once.,

The bathroom did leave some things to be desired. There was not a good place to put your toiletries. We also had to climb into a very deep bathtub to get to the shower... If you are clumsy, like me, you may walk away with a couple of bruises. The house itself was very pretty, and was decorated in a manner appropriate for the property. I would've liked to seen some warm blanket to sit out on the patio with, board games, or puzzles to pass the time. There was only one sofa, and it was not in a cozy little nook where you would want to hang out. The food was fine. The menu is heavy on carbs and sweet breakfast treats. They were executed well enough. But there was not any particular breakfast that knocked my socks off. Again it was fine. The location was very convenient to downtown Asheville. It would be a two minute drive or a 10 minute walk to downtown Asheville. This bed-and-breakfast did not appear to be owned and operated by the hosts, rather an absentee corporation or business. I think that made the difference. Everything was fine, but it didn't have that touch of home that you expect when you stay at a bed and breakfast. For example, when we wanted to use the television, and needed some assistance, when we called the number that was left, the call was blocked. On a whim , we texted Fortunately, they responded right away. But ultimately, after 6 PM you are on your own in terms of staffing. Overall, I can recommend Beaufort House, but I think next time I will try something different.

We got the Pride & Joy Couples Package, which included the breakfast buffet for two (normally $16.50 per person, and Bonvoy Elite members do not get free breakfast), a bottle of champagne upon request, two cocktails at Paloma, valet parking (normally $28/night), and 2 p.m. late checkout. I now see a Romance Getaway package that looks similar but without the valet parking and late checkout. I recommend taking a screenshot of exactly what your package includes when you book. That way you can ask to have your bottle of champagne delivered and make sure you receive the vouchers for the free breakfasts and drinks. The valet parking was very convenient. I received a text that allowed me to request our car before we went downstairs. The breakfast buffet was really nice, European style (cold cuts with cheese), fresh fruit and berries, Chobani yogurt, pastries, eggs, spinach quiche, breakfast meats, and two made-to-order options for eggs or a waffle with strawberries and blueberries. You pour your own coffee, which is also available free even if you aren't eating at the restaurant. There is also a Nespresso Vertuo with the large pods and a milk frother. Service varied depending on who was working. Since you get your own coffee and food, there isn't much table service, and if you use the breakfast vouchers, you simply hand over the voucher and don't need to sign a receipt. Bring some cash if you want to leave a tip. On each floor is a Hydration Station with glass carafes you can fill with filtered water. At the AC Asheville, you had to ask Guest Services for a carafe, which I never did, so it was a nice convenience to have the carafes already there. Our room was a good size, with a couch and floor-to-ceiling windows. We had a good view overlooking the bar and restaurant square below. Important note: the sheer blinds really are sheer. Even when they are pulled across the windows, you can see into the room, so close the room-darkening curtains for privacy. There is also no nightlight, so you may want to bring your own for late-night bathroom trips. There is a coffee maker with a pullout tray and rectangular coffee packets. I thought the coffee tasted good, although perhaps it didn't have the full caffeine power I am used to. There was also a mini-fridge with two small bottles of water and glasses to use for the filtered water, plus electrical outlets and USB-A ports by the bed. There was a nice, little gym. We really enjoyed the hotel for its quiet rooms, convenient location, and easy access to downtown Greenville and Falls Park. The Pride & Joy package also made our stay a particularly good value, especially with the breakfast, drinks and valet parking included.

We initially assumed it had been provided for additional comfort. However, after returning from dinner, we found the room at 78 degrees, even though we had set the unit to 68. When we contacted the front desk, we learned that the room's air-conditioning system was not working. The woman at the front desk was very kind and understanding, and our frustration is not directed toward her. Rather, we are extremely disappointed that the hotel assigned us a room without functioning air conditioning and did not disclose this before we checked in. Had we been informed, we would not have accepted the room--particularly on a hot summer day in the South. We understand that mechanical problems occur, and we have no objection to paying a fair price for a quality hotel room. What is unacceptable is placing guests in a room with a known problem without notifying them beforehand. Providing a portable unit without explanation made the situation feel concealed rather than honestly addressed. As a Bonvoy member, I expected greater transparency and better treatment. If you are planning to stay at the Greenville property, make sure everything in your room--especially the air conditioning--is working properly before you settle in. This was not cool at all, literally or figuratively.

We did have a little trouble doing simultaneous video calls. I would love to come back in the summer. The house is absolutely fantastic and well-appointed. We brought so many supplies with us and didn't need to use any of it. They provide everything you'll need while there.
