This place is incredible…read more Located in Hendersonville, near Chimney Rock, the mountain views from the Inn are gorgeous, there is a swimming hole with a waterfall just down the hill, and there are tons of humming birds to watch all day. The Inn itself has a rustic vibe with wood everything, quilted blankets on beds, and rocking chairs on the porch. The basement is super fun with foosball, ping pong, pool table and a bowling lane. The hosts are super friendly and accommodating. This place is great, I would love to go back and would recommend this place to everyone I know!

However, the biggest issue is that the property does not currently reflect the photos shown online. When we arrived around 1pm, there was no one available to check us in and no answer when we called. We ended up leaving and returning a couple of hours later after finally hearing back. While waiting on the porch, we noticed several items left out--loose baseboard trim, a broom, a bag of cement, and a detached flexible downspout in the walkway--which immediately gave the impression that the property wasn't being actively maintained. The outdoor areas continued that theme. The side yard and fire pit area looked like they hadn't been used or maintained in some time, with weeds growing through the pebble ground, empty or dead plant pots, and older or broken furniture visible around the property. Inside, there are some pieces that reflect the historic character of the home, but the overall decor felt inconsistent. Some furnishings fit the period, while others felt more like standard, dated pieces that didn't contribute to the charm the property is marketed on. For the price, we expected a more polished and cohesive experience--especially when compared to nearby properties like The Black Walnut Bed & Breakfast, which appeared noticeably well maintained. Overall, we left feeling that the listing photos--many of which appear to be from prior ownership--don't accurately represent the current condition. With attention to upkeep and updated photos, this could be a much stronger experience.

We stayed in one of the cabins that overlooks the rapids, it was absolutely beautiful. The room that we stayed in had a completely remodeled bathroom which had a beautiful shower with river stones as the base for the shower. Everything was conveniently located to shopping restaurants and Chimney Rock State Park. We definitely will be back, the only thing that we did not like was the fact that it was extremely noisy having the parking lot directly in front of your room and a main road less than 30 feet away from your cabin. We took advantage of a boat tour on Lake lure, we had hoped to rent a boat on our own but please understand that you will need to book these boats two weeks in advance. However, there are so many wonderful things to see, unfortunately we did have some rain but that was OK. Again our stay was pleasant, we did not give five stars only because of the noise that we had from being so close to the road and the cabin facing the parking area for customers. We did have fresh coffee every morning which was really nice for coffee drinkers! Thank you so much for the hospitality and we hope to see you soon. The only thing that we wish was that it was "dog friendly"!! Highly recommended.

It was pretty awesome that we could hear the river running all night. The kids got some good pictures in the morning. The room was semi updated but we had everything that we needed. The rooms are on the small side but it's a trade off the the view. Cable TV in both rooms. Mini fridge and sink. Microwave. Breakfast was simple but ample. Waffle maker, oatmeal, danishes, cereal. They had coffee so I was good. All of my kids found something to eat. The only reason I am not rating 5 stars is because the bathtub did not drain well so we took showers standing in a pool of water and when we first checked in there was a big ole house roach in the bed. I'm not talking about the big black cockroaches that you might expect near the woods, I mean a house roach that rolls with 1000 other roaches. Definitely a turn off.

Funny thing, we were the only ones staying the night (luckily we only booked one night), to find that out upon arrival. No WiFi access (too cheap to expense that) the advertised pub was not an option, nor was the restaurant! Then in the morning the BREAKFAST, hense part of a BED & BREAKFAST experience, was a granola bar, dry cereal, a few grapes, cinnamon rolls wrapped in plastic wrap, juice "if" you wanted it and milk "if" you had cold dry cereal. Sadly the 2 ladies that work their are way too nice!! Shame on this owner! I have reached out via text several times in which I was told I would get a call back after Carl was out of a meeting...no call. Today I left a voice message...no return call. So, unfortunately lesson learned that those intended to lie and rip you off are out there even hidden under a very impressive PHONY website.

The outdoor area was very inviting with lots of places to relax from two porch decks to a fire pit. The historic neighborhood of Montford is idyllic and only a pleasant 20 minute walk from downtown Asheville. Finally, the food. Joshua is a star chef and his three-course breakfasts were the collective highlight of our visit to Western North Carolina. By the third day, we couldn't wait to see what foodie paradise awaited us for each course. You can't go wrong with Applewood.

One of the co-owners, Josh, is an artist and magnificent pianist who was kind enough to play for us while we were there. He is also the chef who prepares 3-course gourmet breakfasts everyday which are creative as well as delicious. The majority of the produce they use is from their organic gardens in the back. Cash, the other co-owner, is the genius behind their landscaping gardens. If you like porches, this is your place - there are at least 4 of them & one has a porch swing. This inn is filled with gorgeous antiques and attention to detail. You are very close to downtown yet are located on a nice quiet street so you get the best of both worlds. We stayed in a cottage years ago but this time stayed in a corner room in the main inn. Wonderful setting, amazing breakfast, and an entirely great team supporting the guests. We didn't have dinner here but that's only because of a pre-existing res elsewhere. The new owners have maintained the place amazing well, from the new terrace extension to the restaurant (heated!), to the paths, Tesla wall batteries in case of emergencies, coffee service. And smiles all around. Could not recommend higher
